Jazzy, Classy, and impressive environment.....

I had an all white party on the 14th of Aug, 2010 here at the Jazz Bistro where everything went very well....the staff was wonderful .... I plan my party before the event..set with the manager and asked to being out the platter out at 10:30 p.m. for the 1st set of guest and then another one out at 11:30 p.m. for the 2nd set of guest and each time it was out and on the table ready for the guest..the platter was nicely set up and the plates that was provided was very elegant...I asked to have the cake at 12:00 a.m. and that to was out and ready as well...All of my friends was very please and so was I..I would recommend this place to all....by the way I am an event planner...and this place I will recommend to all my client that is planning an event..great job Jazz Bistro I am impressed..

Saturday night was my second visit to the Jazz Bistro. The first visit wasn't all that great either so I'll start by describing that visit first. I pass up the Jazz Bistro when I come home from work. Because my boyfriend and I love jazz music, we decided to visit one Friday night. The decor is not impressive but not a major turn off either. What surprised me, and not pleasantly, was the drab menu. There is not much of a selection at all and what is offered is basic. When it was time to order, I only ordered an appetizer and my boyfriend ordered a hamburger. The waiter took our order but shortly returned to inform us they did not offer hamburgers anymore. What? Your menu is already limited and one of the few items you do have, you don't serve anymore? Didn't you know that when you took our order? All that said, we did not kick up a fuss. The waiter ranted and raved about the Philly Cheesesteak, so thats what my boyfriend decided on. It took a long, long while before our food arrived. We were annoyed a bit, but we were desperately trying to give this place a fair shot. Besides, we did enjoy listening to the live music while we waited. When our food FINALLY arrived, my appetizer was not warm and the Philly Cheesesteak was not as great as described. My boyfriend and I still managed to have a nice time, mostly because of the live music. We wanted to stay longer, but after waiting for about 40 minutes for the band to return from their "short" break, we decided to leave.

Saturday night we decided to go to the Jazz Bistro again. *Sigh* Our experience was spoiled from the beginning. When we arrived, we waited in the front for an unusually long time for someone to greet us. When our waiter finally did come, he seemed less than enthused to have us. His greeting was very dry. As a matter of fact, he didn't say much to us at all. I was put off by this, but we still allowed him to seat us. He took us to a table that was fine, but we wanted to sit closer to the band, and there were ample tables available. When we asked to be seated closer to the band, he seemed to have an attitude about it and simply gestured for us to follow him to another table. When we were seated, he left the table without asking what we wanted to drink. About 5 minutes later, he returned with two glasses of water and took off again. No questions about if we wanted anything other than water to drink, or if we were ready to ordered. Nothing. The waiter decided to drop by our table again with a wine menu. I say "drop by" because thats exactly what he did. He "dropped" the wine menu on or table, without explaination, and guess what? He took off again. I asked my boyfriend, "does this guy talk?' By this time I was very disgusted. The waiter came to our table again and just stood by our table! He took more time to look at the band than ask us if we were finally ready to order! My boyfriend caught the waiter's attention and told him we were ready to order. Very rudly, the waiter replied (not verbatim), "okay, what do you want?" I couldn't believe the service we were receiving! My boyfriend ordered and I told the waiter that I only wanted a Sprite. When he left, I told my boyfriend that I was not comfortable. My boyfriend offered to request another waiter, but I just wanted to get the h*!# out of there! We got up from our tables and on the way out, we saw our waiter, with our order still in his hand, talking and being very gracious to a group of ladies.

I will NEVER, EVER again visit this place. If you are contemplating visiting this place, DON'T! There are far too many better places to eat and listen to live music. Do not waste your money or your precious time at this place.

*The only reason why I gave this place one star is because I couldn't post this review without doing so. Believe me, this place does not deserve ANY stars, at all.

Pros: Jazz performance

Cons: where do I begin?

.

Saturday, April 10 we went to Jazz Bistro Missouri City to have a birthday/dinner party for my 82 year old mother and some friends and family. I previously went in to arrange for the food and reserve the space. I paid the owner $75 for the space and she showed us where we would be sitting. When we got there on Saturday, there was another birthday party set up where she told me we??d be sitting and then she told us we??d be on the other side. I had to ask them to put the tables together for us and it went downhill from there. Even though we called and pre-ordered our food, nothing was ready, so we decided to order appetizers. About 20 minutes later two of my guests received their pasta orders and then they brought out 2 of the tilapia dinners. We told them we had ordered appetizers because they said the food wasn??t ready, but they said they had to bring it out anyway. They then proceeded to bring out some appetizers. So now, some of the people have their entrees and some have appetizers (???) Unfortunately, my mother still hadn??t been served. About 20 minutes later, we asked when the ribs would be coming out and they told us it would take awhile for the ribs. (even though we called and pre-ordered). Some of us ordered grilled chicken which had still not arrived. This was well into an hour and one-half after getting there. Finally, the chicken and ribs arrived. Unfortunately, the chicken was burnt and not cooked through and the ribs were tough and burnt. None of us finished our chicken or ribs. We also ordered desserts. Again, some of us received the desserts and when we asked about the others, we were told they have to cook another pan (????) It never came. But the real kicker to this evening was when the bill came. One example ?? the pastas were $10.95 on the menu, but my guests were charged $15.95 ?? the wings were $7.95, but they were charged $9.95. When we asked why the prices were different than on the menu, the waiter replied they charge higher for a birthday dinner!!! I called the owner over and asked about this and first stated she told me it would be higher. I reminded her that she told me it would $15.95 for the buffet, that she never told me the menu prices would be higher. Then she tried to say that she included drinks, but I told her not everyone had drinks, so that doesn??t work. After stumbling through some more lies, she finally said ok, she would charge the menu price. I went back and told my guests they would only have to pay for what the ordered and the price on the menu. When she brought the bill back, (one for the whole table), she had errors on the bill. Disgusted, I asked my guests if we could just split the bill and they all agreed, even the ones who did not order as much. They were disgusted with the whole experience also. I hope they get better, because they won??t be in business long with this kind of service. Also, my mom was so disappointed with her birthday dinner. She felt bad and embarrassed in front of her friends. No one should have that happen to them on their birthday.
