Our only 3 year old television went out and intially we just wanted to buy a new television, since calling the manufacturer was far from helpful. But after doing a search online for television repair, we decided to bring it in to Dean TV. They diagnosed it and said it needed a replacement motherboard. It took a week for the part and repair, and they tested it in the store before I left. The price was reasonable and they also applied the diagnosis fee towards the repair cost. Lo and behold a few months later, we received a notice from the manufacturer involving a class action suit in which they would cover the cost of repairs for faulty sets. We had long discarded the invoice and receipt from Dean TV, but they were great and helped us get a copy from their records so we could apply for our credit from the manufacturer. If you're looking for a straighforward television repair for a decent price, I would highly recommend Dean TV.

Drove all the way from Bastrop because the local TV repair service which is just a few miles from home wanted a hefty price just to diagnose my problem.

Dean TV said they would call me that same day to let me know what was wrong and and the cost of repair. I stayed in Austin less than an hour when I got their call, not only saying how much it cost but that I could pick it up if I am still in Austin within another hour, Very fair cost and my HDTV works better than ever. Excellent service glad I found them.

If I could give less stars I would. I brought a semi busted (white dots on screen, still fully functioning) 65"" TV to Dean, who charged me $29 for his tech to take the back off. They told me what it would cost something like $600+, I stopped listening after he started rattling off tech fee's. Retrieved the TV from Dean and now the thing is 100% busted, it will not turn on. Dean is not giving me my money back. Since I know little about TV's, I would assume Dean gutted my unit for the useable parts and replaced with crap ones. Dean didn't care so I will no longer bring business to him and I wish him terrible luck. Thank you Con artist Dean!

I started having intermittent issues with my 24"" Acer LCD monitor of 3.5 years (6 months out of manufacturer warranty of course). Somtimes it would come on then turn off again while using the DVI port. I took it into Deans for a free estimate, and they called the next day saying they could repair it. At first I decided to just take it home and not worry about repairs - after all it was an intermittent issue (but I knew it would only get worse) - and after speaking with Ron at the front counter, who was very friendly, I was confident leaving it with him to do the repairs. I also spoke with the owner, Dean, when I went to pick it up. He seems to be a customer-service oriented gentleman, and assured me they would take care of it if there were any problems with the service. When I picked it up, they had it connected to show me that it was functioning properly. I love this monitor and would have hated to get rid of it. Deans saved me a new monitor purchase, and they warrantied their repairs for 60 days. Warranty is always good! I also spoke with Ron about maybe bringing in my 40"" Samsung LCD TV in the future (it's starting to make noise). I have a feeling it's the cooling fans, so I will try to shoot some compressed air in there and see if that helps. If not, I'll bring it to Deans (or have them come to my home) once it starts getting REALLY annoying.

When our two month old Emerson 32""LCD went dead, we went through a 3 day runaround ending with an authorization number and a phone number to Dean's TV in San Marcos. When Emerson asked if they were close, I told them no but that was all they offered. When I called Dean's he got the authorization number and told me to ""bring it in but call first to make sure someone is there"". When I told him I was in McDade he repeated the ""call first"" instructions. Called Emerson again, they gave us HD TV in Austin, who said ""bring it in between 9 and 6"". Being 40 miles closer and not needing an appointment, seems like it would have been the first option. Dean's may be great but I'm not going to go to someplace to leave my equipment where they are out making calls.

I searched for a reputable TV Repair service when my 3 year old 47 Vizio went kapoot.

I drove 40 miles to Deans TV Repair because of all the positive reviews I saw here. I had a very good experience and was relieved to get my TV fixed at a very reasonable price. Well worth the drive to know that I was not going to get ripped off and waste a trip.

Ijust wanted to confirm that Deans is the place to take your electronics for repair.

I found out that they would have come to my area (Hamilton Pool outside of Dripping Springs) but I saved a few dollars taking my TV in.

Highly recommended.

Our 72"" Mitsubishi DLP television stopped working after only one and a half years, and I called Dean TV Repair to see about getting it repaired. I can't say enough about how polite and professional the repairman was. He kept us informed by telephone about the arrival of the part to the shop, he even came to our home on Thanksgiving day, because he knew we had people who would be at our home for the holiday! \r
The problem was that the lamp cartridge had burned out, and after replacing it, our TV is back in service. I would recommend Dean TV Repair to anyone needing service on their television set.\r

Called these guys about a 21"" Viewsonic monitor I had that was not working properly. Guy was very friendly and nice. Told me it would be $19 to look at it, The problem I had was the monitor light stays on like you are getting a signal, but no picture. If you turn it on and off the screen comes on for a second and then goes off again so it is not the screen itself. But Dean's told me that no matter what was wrong with it I would end up paying $150. I have a huge problem with that as number one, how do you quote a price without even looking art it and number two you can buy a new one with what they want to charge you to fix the old one.

We contacted Dean's when our 50"" went out and they came to our house as scheduled. When it couldn't be repaired at home they took the TV to the shop and returned it as promised. We did call them back when the same issue came up and they came out the same day, fixed it, and didn't charge for the follow-up. I was very impressed with their level of service and would use them again in a heartbeat not to mention recommend them to anyone.

Pros: Great Work and Customer Service for the Price

.

I went to Deans after reading the reviews. I dropped my 27 inch TV off on Friday and picked it up Saturday. It works great. \r
\r
My TV just stopped turning on. When I dropped it off they told me they would call me the next day (Saturday) with an estimate. They called me at 9:30 am, told me the problem and the cost of repairs. When I asked when I could pick it up they said today (Saturday). I had my TV back and was watching it by 2:30 pm the same day. The staff was very nice and I was very impressed with the service and price. I highly recommend Deans. Be careful parking. Not many spaces and you back out on a very busy Lamar street.

My almost new Samsung LCD went on the fritz. Past warranty, of course. I could not find any help with Samsung and my internet searches left me without any viable solutions. Basically, I learned that a repair would cost at least $1000. I was seriously resigned to perhaps having to replace it. A $1000 LCD would be nice but not as nice as the $2000 one that broke. Anyhow, I found Dean's online, called and spoke directly to Dean. I opted to take my TV in. He helped me carry it in, gave me assurances that he could fix it but that there could be a delay on getting the part.. While I was there the UPS guy came in and it was obvious that Dean and he had developed a great rapport. Dean gave me a discount and a price and said he'd call later that day. He called in a few hours and said it was done. I went in to pick it up, he did an in-store test and then helped me load it again.\r
Dean's is the best. Given how these flat screens go down and how lousy the warranties are, Im keeping Dean's phone number handy!

I called Dean because of RAVE reviews, and I was pleased with his analysis of my tv's issues; his prompt reply via phone; his estimated quote was the price that I paid, and he had the TV ready within less than 24 hours after I took it to his shop. He worked on the motherboard of my Toshiba plasma, just as he said he would, and honestly, it came back even better than before I had the black rectangle issue (intermittently, a 2 inch by 11 inch rectangle would appear vertically, just right of the center of the screen...he fixed it!\r
\r
I would recommend Dean to anyone and everyone.

I called them to see if they had heard of the problem with my TV (Mitsubishi DLP). The guy that picked up the phone was hard to understand and seemed more interested in getting me to bring him the TV then trying to trouble shoot over the phone. I don't want to pay for a diag fee if it's going to cost a ton to fix.

I read all the other reviews and chose to call these guys. Maybe I had the misfortune of someone new picking up the phone. I don't know but I won't be calling them back.

After reading so many positive reviews I decided to trust Dean TV with my repair job, and I was not disappointed.\r
\r
Prompt scheduling led to next day repair with the most professional technician sent to my home. Trusting them with a $4500.00 television only led to bigger surprises with such a fair (shhh, to cheap) repair bill.\r
\r
Thank you again and feel confident that you have earned one more loyal customer.

I have a Mitsubishi 60""LCD that would not power up. I explained to Dean what the TV was and was not doing. He explained to me it could be a number of things that would cause the TV to not function. I scheduled an appointment for him to come out and troubleshoot the problem. After we hung up, it wasn't 10 minutes later, Dean called me back. He had downloaded the manual and research the problems. He had me perform some troubleshooting technics on the TV. Within minutes my TV turned on! I think most other technicians would have taken advantage of the situation by coming out to bill for service and parts. Dean did not charge me for his expertise. He demonstrated honesty and a concern for his customers. I will tell all my friends about this experience. Thanks Dean!!

Dean came out to reapir our Sony Video Scope 2 Tuner PIP. Given this is Christmas time we wanted to save a little money and not be forced to buy a new TV. Dean helped us - instead of costing $800 for a new 52"" TV, it cost us $350 to repair our current 52"". And the best part is he cleaned the unit and it is now working like a brand new TV straight off the showroom floor. (It only took him 30 minutes to do all of this) We are very impressed with Dean and highly recommend him to all our friends and family.

Dean came out and repaired my 55"" Mitsubishi projection HDTV on 08-10-2009. As soon as he saw the TV's picture, he knew exactly what the problem was. I was expecting the worst, and it turned out to be a board. I went from thinking this was an $800 repair to a gun, to a $300 board replacement. He was finished in 45 minutes, and I had a brand new picture. The TV had not look that good since I bought it in 2001.

Last week, almost exactly 1 month after the board was replaced, the TV went back to the bad picture. I called Dean to report the warranty claim. He was very re-assuring and said that he would have someone out asap. His service tech came out, recognized the board damage, and replaced it under warranty. They made no attempt to try to blame it on something else so they could charge me. It was a bad board and they took care of it.

I have my great picture again and I feel assured that if something goes wrong, I have support.

I am very happy and impressed with the professionalism and service that I received from Dean's TV Repair. I will always recommend them to anyone that needs a TV repaired.

Thanks Dean!!!

I first went thru the service department where I purchased my 60"" Sony TV and the earliest they could send someone out to check the TV was 12 days from the day I called which was Monday Sept. 7, 2009. They also wanted a service charge of $150. I called Dean TV repair on Tuesday at 9:30 and they had someone at my home before 11:00 and the service charge was only $50. By 11:30 my TV was repaired. After it was fixed he offered to remove the back of my TV and cleaned it for me without any additional charge. He also took the time to explain how I can get the lamp to last longer.

I have a Toshiba 43H70 - a model I bought in 2000. I called Dean and - based on my description and limited online research - he instantly knew what the problem was (he said he had owned the exact same model at one time) and said it would be an easy fix. I called on a Thursday and he came over on Saturday. Fix-it price was $295 and he and his assistant diagnosed and fixed the set in about 40 minutes. The real bonus was when I asked him how much it would cost to clean the TV. He said $20. As an added bonus, after the cleaning, he entered the service menu and made convergence adjustments. As a result, the set looks better than it EVER has. The money was well worth it. Very highly recommended.

Dean was courteous and provided quick and efficient service. I have a 65in. Mitsubishi HDTV that wouldn't turn on. Dean was able to assess the problem over the phone and came prepared with parts to fix the problem. His quote for repair was fair and he was able to repair the problem the same day of his initial visit. Dean guarantees his work for 90days and offered a 10% discount off the total quote for being a 1st time customer. He was in and out of my home in 45min with my tv working as good as new! Thank you Dean...and my kids thank you a million times over!

I advertised my TV for sale becuase I did not want to deal wih repairs especially after getting expensive quotes. Dean himself replied to my sales add stating he could fix it for a reasonable price, his quote was 50% lower than all others - this was a no brainer for me, I scheduled to have him repair my TV. He got to my house on time and completed the job quickly and efficiently. Good quality and affordable service is hard to find, he is a keeper. GREAT JOB! I highly recommend Dean TV and Electronic services.

I called and spoke with Dinh on a Saturday and was able to have him come out to my house on Monday. The fact that other places I had called did not respond or told me that I would have to bring my TV in was my initial deciding factor. Everyone else wanted me to bring in my TV and quoted me anywhere from $85-$200 just to find out what the problem was. Dean TV Repair only charges $50 to diagnose the problem. Within 20 minutes of Dinh arriving he had already figured out the problem and removed the faulty part and told me what the problem was. The only thing I had to do was wait for the part he ordered to arrive. He arrived at my house on Wednesday installed the part all within less than 30 minutes. Not only was the service quick it ended up costing me less than going somewhere else. I highly recommend Dean TV Repair and if another issue should arrive I will certainly be calling him again.

Dean saved me $700.\r

I purchased a 50"" RCA DLP Scenium tv about two years ago and didn't start using it until March '07. The picture went out around July '08. Estimates all over said it would almost be easier to just buy a new television. I had received a couple of misdiagnoses from RCA and a couple of local repair services and after spending $100 to attempt to fix the set I saw Dean's ad.\r
\r
He came out to my home, examined the tv and gave me an immediate diagnosis for $50. He gave me an estimate on the cost of repair at $325 and took the set back to his shop to repair it. He advised me up front that it could take up to a week to repair it depending on how long he had to wait for the part. Exactly one week later I had an email from Dean saying my tv was fixed!\r
\r
He brought the set back out and it works as wonderfully as I remembered it did before it went kaput. Dean was very professional, and saved me about $700 on the repair. I plan on using him as long as he is in business and telling everyone I can.\r
\r
The only reason I docked a star was due to a mixup with my power cord, but it was resolved to my satisfaction.

Our Sony Trinitron went out on Christmas Eve. On the 26th I found Dean's TV Repair in City Search. I called him after reading the excellent reviews - specifically the one from just days before with the same TV and exact same problem. After we called him, our TV was fixed within a couple of hours. Dean is prompt and extremely knowledgeable. He told us exactly what it would cost before he did the work and he did a great job. We will recommend Dean to anyone who has a TV repair need. Thank you, Dean,\r

Pros: Prompt, Knowledgeable

Dean TV is awesome. My wife&I's 35"" Sony Trinitron went out suddenly, and we don't have a lot of money. So we just started hoping to find a really really good deal on a new TV or repair shop. Every shop wanted to charge an arm&a leg, and wanted me to take a 150 lb. plus TV to them. I found Dean TV on craigslist; twelve hours later they were here. They diagnosed the problem in about 2 minutes, and have been working for about 10 minutes so far, and they appear to be moving quick&careful. Even though you have to be home for the repairs, it is waaaay worth it. Professional, courteous, quick, cheap, and even a warranty!!! \r
\r
There is not a better person to go to for TV repairs in the Austin area,... trust me. I'm poor and therefore had to search hard core for someone to be able to help us out, and Dean TV was the best choice. We saved somewhere between $75 tp $100. Which, in reality, we couldn't have afforded. So if it wasn't for Dean TV, we wouldn't have a working TV at all.\r
\r
They just finished, and the whole process took under a half hour. Dean has obviously been working with TVs for quite a while now, I believe he said 10 years+, and it shows.\r
\r
This is who you need to call for TV repairs!!! I promise it. You can just look here around citysearch, and compare the reviews of other TV repair shops to Dean TV's reviews, and see for yourself. I did, and am so unbelievably happy with the results.\r
\r
Thanks, Dean, my wife and I are very happy to be able to watch a movie or two together this holiday season.\r

What more need be said -- oh, yes - cost is reasonable.\r
Large screen (48 inch) Mitsubishi died. Others wanted it brought in to their shop - to be left there for days - what am I a moving man, what no loaner? \r
Use again? Yes!\r
Recommend? Duh!

When our 6 year old, 53"" Sony rear-projection HD TV died I visited two repair shops in Austin, both of whom suggested that we discard the TV and buy one of their new models. The best-known of the two shops quoted $350 to pick up our 280 lb. set, provide a estimate, and dispose of it if not economical to repair. \r
\r
We were about to recycle the TV when I found an ad for Dean TV in Pflugerville. Dean quoted a very reasonable charge to visit our home and provide an estimate. He came out the day we called, repaired the set in about an hour while I watched, soldered in brand new Sony parts, and gave us the old parts to keep or throw out. The TV is now working like new, there's a 45-day warranty on the repair, and the cost was almost exactly the same as the estimate and disposal fee (but no repair) at the other shop. Note that Dean needed our exact TV model number before he came out, presumably to have the right parts on hand.
