Very hip, trendy, Euro cafe bar!

Most of the seats were these lush comfy hip armchairs. Not only trendy to look at, but actually comfy. Since it was busy & we wanted dinner, we ended up sitting at a table instead. But if I come back for coffee sometime by myself, I will sit in one of those cool chairs.

The food was really good, although my friend had a salad which neither of us liked. I do recommend the Macaroni and cheese!

The location is great, near the market, near SAM, near a cute little chocolate shop, and in the same building as the Four Seasons Hotel. I have driven/walked by here frequently and yet never noticed Fonte. What a great little gem!

I also like that you can get wine or coffee or both. Not everyone drinks, so this works for everyone. Have coffee, have a drink, have dinner, or have dessert. You get to choose what you want...

Pros: location, food, drinks, seating, service

Cons: I didn't notice any

This place is located smack in the middle of downtown seattle on 1st across from SAM. They have a great happy hour two times a day, where wine is half off and there are lots of appetizers in the 3$ range. This place does look a little fancy, but there are people hanging out using their computers. Seems like a nice place to spend a relaxing day or meet up with friends. Lots of menu variety. Much enjoyed the olive appetizer and the chickpea soup. Did not care for the carrott salad, too sweet. Mac N cheese looked good. Bathrooms were a little confusing, but apparently its just me, girls wear skirts or so I am told. Glad I got to check it out.

Pros: happy hour prices, location, decor

Comfortable seating, free wi-fi, and excellent coffee. Though sounding like a carbon copy of one of Seattle??s plethora of coffee shops, Fonte manages to be one of the most chic coffee destinations of all. With an on-site pastry person, their baked goods are fresh and well above-average, as are their other breakfast fare offerings which include inspired omelets, egg sandwiches, and a French toast of the day. In particular, the strawberry scone, a potentially blah item, is *life changing*. Don??t forget that Happy Hour, lunch and dinner menus are accompanied by reasonably priced wines, and their ??gourmet food to go? is nothing to scoff at.

Pros: Strawberry scones, friendly staff, chic establishment

Cons: Hard to get to unless you live/work downtown

The atmosphere is very modern, laid back, but yet still upscale. They have beautiful lighting, in the evening there are candles everywhere. During the day they have pretty table centerpieces (a plate and bowl with a flower bud in it). The servers will come to your table, so you can just come in and sit down. I find this rare in Seattle for a cafe.

The happy hour (5-7pm, sometimes til 9pm) is one of the best. Some great drinks are $3 and they have a long list of food for $3 including a chocolate brownie with bacon and pecan toffee, autumn BLT on gruyere gougere, and boquerones (Spanish anchovies). Excellent cafe/wine bar for a meeting, studying, date night, or a drink alone. And it's completely unpretentious. I'm sold.

Pros: Awesome happy hour, polite and easy going servers

Cons: Location, I wish it were in a less congested area

Fonte Coffee shop and wine bar has the best deal in seattle for happy hour. The $3 selection of food is great! Try the roasted vegetable bruschetta, amazing! The service is great but they need more seating and later hours.

I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was talking about when they wrote that Fonte had a sign that said they closed at 7 p.m., because Fonte is open until 9 p.m. on the weekdays, and 10 p.m. on the weekends.

Interior is very nice -- reminds me of a cafe in, say, Prague (very Euro in feel). Modern, clean, kind of an artsy vibe with a poured concrete floor, exposed pipes, a high black painted ceiling, electronic music on the soundtrack.

The coffee is smooth in flavor, the baked goods are made on the premises, they serve food, beer and wine (by the glass and by the bottle), and there are plenty of power outlets under the tables so that you can plug in your laptop and stay for hours.

I plan on becoming a regular.

This review is for the Fonte Coffee which is located at 1321 1st Avenue. Last night my husband and I went in for a cup of coffee, but the employee said they were closing. We said "the sign says you close at 7:00 pm" it was only 6:25 pm. The employee responded saying "it's been dead all day so we're closing." I guess I just expect that a nicer coffee shop, and one in the Four Seasons building, to be more professional and stick to their posted hours instead of closing whenever they feel like it. So instead we went to Cafe Ladro, less than a block away, which is open every day until 11pm and I think they mean it.
