I worked at a Shakey's Pizza many years ago, and thought it would be fun and nostalgic to try the Shakey's Pizza which opened last year up on Newport Highway. Things have sure changed a lot over the years! Shakey's pepperoni pizzas used to have thicker slices of pepperoni on them. We were instructed that when making the pizzas we were to completely cover the cheese with pepperoni, with the slices touching all over. After cooking, the pepperoni slices would be curled up into little bowl shapes, but you could still see that there was a lot of meat on there. On my recent visit, I ordered a pepperoni pizza with Extra pepperoni and the meat was so tissue thin that it melted in with the cheese and seemed to disappear. And there was just one scanty layer of this pepperoni making me wonder what I would've been served if I hadn't asked for extra. If you're a pepperoni lover, Shakey's is not the place for you.

Cons: Tissue-thin pepperoni
