I just completed a move with Moving Central and had an EXCELLENT experience!!

Obviously I was skeptical after reading the other reviews online, but after receiving quotes of more than double that of Moving Central and a very persistent sales representative Zula, I decided to give them a chance (with a sizable insurance policy).

I must have submitted a request for a quote before reading the reviews. Once I read the reviews I of course decided I was not going to even work with this company, but Zula was persistent. Eventually, she got me on the phone so I decided I had nothing to lose by getting a quote and letting her know why I was not responsive. She acknowledge the bad reviews, but assured me that I would have a positive experience with her leading the way. As I mentioned, I at that point had received quotes from other companies at more than double the quote Zula gave me. With the cost of relocating from Chicago to NJ mounting, it was hard to not consider it.

Obviously I decided on going with Moving Central and I am 110% satisfied with the service I received from my team of movers. Starting with Zula my amazing sales/customer service rep to Miguel and his team of packers and movers in Chicago to Melissa my dispatch contact to Mo (Mohammed) and Valdimir who delivered my goods. Everything I was told or quoted each step of the way was met to 100% satisfaction. In fact, my final quote was less that what was originally estimated due to working closely with Zula to asses my total weight, we over estimated at her recommendation and that worked in my favor. All of the movers were extremely pleasant and willing to do whatever needed to make the experience as painless as possible.

I understand that others had bad experiences with Moving Central, maybe they've hired new employees but my team was OUTSTANDING!

I highly recommend working with Moving Central ask for Zula to get started!!

These guys rock! I've hired them 3 times, and I will continue to hire them. The sales Rep Sam is super friendly over the phone. The movers are very professional, friendly, and fast. I don't think my furniture has gotten a single scratch from these moves, unlike another company I previously used. Even my large picture frames, which I hadn't wrapped up in any way to try to protect them, made the whole trip without any glass breaking. Very good service!

Stay away from this moving company! They are irresponsible and unprofessional. That was what happened to us:

1. On the pick-up day, the worker tried to charge us $600 more than the binding estimate that was electronically agreed between us and the sales person of this moving company -- The pick-up worker re-estimated our household weight to be 5800 pounds rather than 5000 pounds from the original agreement. This didn't make sense, since everything to be moved was on the detailed moving list and all our furniture is light-weighted, let alone that we decided to take several pieces of luggage and furniture with ourselves and it would only decrease the total weight. So I asked the worker to pinpoint which piece of our furniture or luggage he thought weighs more than the average weight in their company's standard. He said something like "I can't tell which one weighs more. It's just a general feeling". Totally nonsense. I told him I wouldn't sign the paperwork unless he keeps the original 5000-pound weight, and I suggested him to talk to the sales person that gave me the original binding estimate. In the end, the guy contacted the sales person (took him almost an hour to find the sales person on the phone) and agreed to keep the original weight. This whole arguing process was not only disappointing but also delayed the packing/pickup by nearly two hours.

2. Since we ordered the "Full Service", the pickup workers were supposed to pack/protect everything professionally. But they did a bad job. For example, they only wrapped the mattresses and box springs by a few layers of plastic wrap, which got torn open easily during the transportation. As a result, our mattresses and box springs got black oil stain in several places where the plastic wrap were torn. Also they applied the same plastic wrapping to one of our computer desks that results scratches on the desk surface and one corner got damaged. These damages could be avoided if they wrapped the furniture in blankets instead of the cheap thin plastic wrap.

3. On the delivery day, the workers were not from Moving central. Instead they're a third party delivering company. And the communication between Moving Central and this third-party company turned out to be terrible. As I mentioned above, we paid for "Full Service", which means the delivery workers were responsible to reassemble our furniture that were taken apart on the pickup day (This was literally written on the contact). But oddly, the delivering workers refused to reassemble any furniture, saying they were only told to put boxes/furniture into our rooms and nothing else. In the end, we had to call Moving Central several times to straighten this out. We ended up talking to different persons from Moving Central, and waiting for Moving Central to talk to the delivery workers back and forth. Sadly, the Moving Central didn't sound to be sorry for creating this trouble for us. Instead, at certain point, Moving Central even argued that they were only responsible for reassembling one single computer desk for us, since that's the only furniture being taken apart by their pickup workers while indicating all other furniture were disassembled by us. What a joke. We didn't touch anything on the pickup day, as we paid for the full service. Finally, Moving Central backed off, and asked us to give them a list of furniture that need to be reassembled, and the delivery workers would do the reassembling. Finally the delivery workers had to borrow our tools in order to put furniture together since they didn't carry any. That was fine for us. But disappointingly they were very inefficient in reassembling, complaining that they were not the persons who took the furniture apart and hence didn't know how to assemble certain parts. After all this exhausting process, we decided to let the workers go, as it's already late evening and it would take them too long to assemble all of our furniture. (We ended up reassembling the rest of the furniture ourselves the next day).

4. Moving Central claimed they're licensed and authorized by American & Storage Association (AMSA) on their homepage http://www.mymovingcentral.com/. That is a lie. I couldn't find their company name from AMSA website. I asked them why, and was told that this was out of date information and they will remove this misleading info from their website. But now one month has passed, and they haven't removed it yet.

5. Don't be mislead by other reviews. Read the yelp review http://www.yelp.com/biz/moving-central-chicago-2
including >100 filtered reviews on yelp. You will know what kind of company it is.

It??s funny how much of a difference a moving company can make. A little surprising how different movers are so different, too. I mean how many different ways can you pack stuff up and load it onto a truck? Apparently there are several.

Of all of the moving companies I??ve used in the past, Moving Central has been in the top 5 of professional, fast, and responsible moving companies so I thought it would only be fair to give them a positive review and share my experience.

Though long overdue, Moving Central really did a fantastic job moving me. It was definitely comforting to know my things were being handled with care and to actually be at a level of comfort that allowed me to be involved in the process as far as special instructions went.

I thought I was losing my mind trying to keep everything organized and in order while prepping to move. I knew pretty far in advance that I didn??t want to have to worry about the actual moving process, so I scheduled with Moving Central once I had done a little research.

I almost came on and left a really horrible review for them because I misplaced one of the boxes and thought it got stolen or went missing. I called them with all intentions of being a complete angry lunatic over the phone and was pleasantly surprised at how well they handled my situation and got me to calm down and regroup. She even stayed on the phone with me while I checked every room and closet in the house, which went above and beyond. I found the box! I'm leaving 5 stars!

Horrible! Moved from Chicago to California was quoted off my inventory list at $1800. After everything was loaded they then told me the cost was $3500! I had 8 extra boxes that were not on my inventory list. Apparently ANYTHING additional completely voids the original GUARANTEED quote and they then give you another new quote. You have to try to track down a staff member that wont avoid your call to find out why the quote doubled. Once you get someone that will return your call two weeks later they basically tell you tough luck, we have your things and if you want them you have to pay. Much different from when you originally call for a quote. DO NOT USE!!!

So mgm needed a new pit boss so they called yours truly I will miss michigan city as I have lived there my whole life. But blue chip just cant stack up to the vegas strip. I had my house moved out here last month by this chicago moving company, Moving central. They did a fanominal job. The only beef I have is that it took like ten days to get here. I had my new place ready 3 days after they picked me up on november 11th and they took until the 20th. For a guy that works 12 hours a day I need exact times not approximates. Id use them again in a heart beat but I will be better prepared for the wait next time.

However all my thing's were still at my parents house and all 130lbs of me could not lift my furniture so I hired movers. I called around and got 2 great prices but moving central's bbb rating sold me on them. I had a minimum load under 1400 lbs they said so I paid less then 1000 for the whole deal and I didn't have a dime more than that so its a good thing I paid what they promised. Either way My furniture arrived wed the 1st and I start my new life as a resident monday so wish me luck!

I had to move to Atlanta for business. Granted its starting to get cold in New york where I live and love. But long distance move s always sucks the air fare, hotels, cable company and on and on. At least the moving service was on point. My quote was $1250.00 on the dot and that is all I paid. They gave me a time line when my furniture might be delivered they made it on day 6 "yesterday 11/29" 2 days after my paint was done so perfect timing. I will be calling them as soon as this club is running the way it should and I can go back to Manhattan.

I have to start this one from the top. I grew up in Ohio in the sticks in a town of 100. I hated it. I set out to the city "Columbus" looking for the job that my 4 year degree was meant for. I wanted to work in high end clothes and besides the boutiques kept open by ball players wives there's no market. So I looked and found a job at GQ in Phoenix, Arizona awesome right? Wrong they wanted me out there in a week! So I looked around and priced 5 Chicago based moving companies and at least 2 from Ohio. At the end Moving central won they came in about $300.00 less than the franchise companies and packed all my things in boxes shrink wrap etc so I didn't have to touch a box. Oh and I stored my things with them for a week at no charge while I decided on my new condo to. The jobs great and they were a big part of my relocation thank you all.

I have moved from Moscow to the U.S. and back a few times and these Moving central guys are perfect at this job. I was picked up last week 11/20 and delivered yesterday 11/28. Going from the frigged Twin lakes wisconsin to Miami was the best decision I have made in years. These men showed up to my home in WI packed my things and loaded the truck in no time.Everything is fine then I find out they have to do other international moves on the way I was mad about it but I understand to make a profit they have to.I will call again in the future if and when I need help.

They picked me up on October 31st and had me set up in my new place in Houston in 4 days they gave me a window of like ten days but told me to be ready. So I left California the day they picked me up I stayed in a hotel for long weekend and they showed up and set me up in my new town home in no time.
