During the renovation of my home I contracted Performance Electric to install new bathroom light fixtures, along with various other minor repairs. The fixtures appeared to be secure and installed properly, however, when I was cleaning the light fixtures I noticed that one of the threaded bolts that secure the fixture to the wall was loose. Upon further inspection I found that the anchor bolt had been inserted into the hole, without being anchored to the plate that is bolted to the cup where the wiring exits from the wall. \nI also found that there was only one small screw that was holding the plate to the cup, which was the original cup that came with the old fixture. The wiring had not been inserted through the center hole, and there was no threaded insert that the wiring usually is routed through to the fixture, and the ground wire from the new fixture had been wrapped around the ground wire that exited the wall wlithout the benefit of a connector, which shields the ends.\nI contacted the Home Depot electrical dept. and was advised by one of their salesmen that an entire new lighting cup and attachment is the norm with any new electrical device that is installed in the house.\nI contacted Performance Electric and Tom answered the phone. He said that he would not be able to look at the wiring until Monday,(this being Saturday) and after I told him what the electrical salesman said about the need to install new fixture devices, Tom stated ""they aren't electricians, that's why they work there for $8.00 an hour.""\nFinding this to be unacceptable in lieu of the fact that the connection of my existing wiring may be a fire hazard I choose not to ever utilize Performance Electric's services and I will advise anyone who asks not to hire them.
