I had a very similar situation to one of the previous writers. Very similar. We had our pipes backing up into our shower and toilette and had someone to come out to snake our pipes. Two weeks later the same thing happened, so of course (covered by their warranty) we had them come back. They suggested they use a camera to see what was going on in our pipes. The next day, we had a man come out with a camera and found that there was cast iron piping between plastic that needed to be replaced. Funny thing is, the man the day before (still Open Rooter) said it would be something that my husband and I should be able to fix. There was eight feet of piping that needed to be replaced. Their quote: $4,250. For a job that my husband and I could fix? I told him that was a sh*^load of money, and had to talk to my husband. He came back from his van with the receipt for the camera bill and said that he spoke to his boss who said they would be able to do the job for $3,250. So, if you complain to them, you will save yourself a grand. Pretty fishy. Thanks but no thanks.

I had a water line in my house break this last tuesday at 11:00 at night. I had called numerous plumbers, all but one said the soonest they could be out was friday. I called Open Rooter at 11:30, the dispatcher said he would have someone call right away. About 5 minutes later, a supervisor called and said he could have some one here in 45 minutes to an hour. Not only were they able to come over right away, the gentleman that called me back walked me through turning my water off so my house wouldnt flood any more.
I would reccomend these plumbers before any one else. They really seem to care about their customers and are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Called Open Rooter out to root a slow and backing up drain. First guy came out on time. Rooted for about 15 minutes. He showed me a root ball with a worm in it saying that we should get a camera down there to check it out.

Camera guy came out. Told me I had 3 inch cast iron pipe leading into 4 inch clay. Showed me all the nastiness in the 4 inch pipe and claimed that it could never be properly cleaned with the 3 inch pipe coming first in line. Remedy they suggested was to dig out 35 foot of good cast iron, replace it with PVC all for $4,500.

Naturally, called in a second opinion. Olson Plumbing and Heating. They looked for any evidence that the cast iron line was 3 inch, but couldn't find any. He felt confident the line was 4 inch all the way along. I also checked my basement to see what size of pipe leaves the house, it measured 4 inches. The only evidence offered that the pipe might be 3 inch was a claim that 4 inch cast iron wasn't installed at the time of the construction of my home.

I called open rooter on a Sunday night and they sent someone out the next morning between 7-8am. They said they would give me their rate of $99.00. The plumber got out here about 5 minutes prior to 8am. He followed me downstairs and told me to remove the water heater to get to the pipe it would cost me another $149.00 so I decided against that.

He ended up removing the toilet and trying to snake the pipe out that way. He spent about 20 minutes doing that before he told me that he needed to send another guy out here to view the problem with the camera.

The guy with the camera came out later that day and told me that they would have to dig up the pipe out of my front yard which would cost me around $4,000.00 which I don't have. So, we sent him on his way with a check for $299.00 not the previous stated cost of $99.00 like I was promised.

I ended up having the city pay for the plumbing problem and they sent out Jr Whitney Plumbing who took care of the problem within an hour and all they did was snake it.

Open Rooter did nothing to solve the money, took all the money I had in my savings and then try to take me for more money. To top it all off they waited over a month to cash the check. Thanks for nothing Open Rooter
