I have recently moved to Malden, Ma from Seattle after working as an executive at Microsoft. Since, moving back to Malden my "home-town", I realized that almost all the after-school programs in Malden was sub-standard and the summer camps in Malden consisted of children playing in a field all day. At first my youngest son participated in a kids summer camp at the local Malden YMCA, but quickly I found most of their staff left children unattended for a substantial portion of the day. When I went to the YMCA I saw high school kids on their phone texting and calling their peers on their cellular phones. This was a horrendous experience that made me lose all faith in Malden and their educational resources. I immediately pulled my children from the program at the Malden YMCA. As I walked to my car I noticed the sign for the Excelsior Learning Center. As I entered the learning center I was eagerly greeted by the receptionist. I was astonished to see an entire group of children raising their hands and genuinely enthusiastic and engaged. When I asked the receptionist what the children in this camp were learning, she stated, that this particular camp was their Rocket Science for Kids. I became more curious as I have a Master in Theoretical Physics from MIT. She explained that the children were learning about rocket propulsion, trajectory analysis, effects of gravity, and other physics-related-concepts. I was surprised about how engaged these children were about a subject most children would find dull. The receptionist explained that the excitement comes from children being able to apply the lessons that they learn in the classroom and from a quality instructor. I was compelled to inquire further, since I have heard the word quality instructor and quality education thrown around quite a bit. I asked the receptionist what the teacher's qualifications were and she stated casually that he had 20 years of experience as a former employee of NASA, and was a tenured professor at MIT. I immediately decided to register my children to their camp. My children are now learning and more importantly excited about learning each day they attend camp. I sincerely implore any parent who wants an exceptional education for their child to attend an Excelsior Learning Center program. After my children attended a few Excelsior summer camps they come home each day begging to go back. I was also surprised that they even have after-school program that utilize the use of Apple's Ipad as part of an innovative mobile learning initiative. I doubt you can find any other learning center with such a forward thinking educational philosophy, especially in Malden, Ma of all places. If I were to rate Excelsior Learning Center on a scale from 1-10 I would rate them 10 to the 10th power.

Excelsior Learning Center is simply amazing! I am a former teacher, currently a special education and autism education consultant that has worked with numerous top private schools. My experience with sending my children and my client's children to Excelsior Learning Center's kids summer camp, and after-school program is simply a joy. My children come back excited about learning science, math, chess, and many other subjects. Imagine a place where children are excited about learning. My daughter comes back home everyday asking me: "Mom when can I go back". I can not say enough about the difference the Excelsior Learning Center has made in my daughter's life. Although my daughter is a gifted student I have heard from many parents with children with special needs that the Excelsior Learning Center is the best thing that has ever happened to their children. Go visit yourself. I promise you won't regret it. http://www.excelsiorlearningcenter.com
