After taking my car to just brakes for their $89 brake job, I got an estimate for $700. I wanted a second opinion, and they told me I would have to tow it stating the brakes were too bad. I towed it to Hopewell and they fixed my brakes for $150, and gave me a warranty. They are the only people that will touch my car from now on.

I called these based on the excelent reviews when I my car died at my friends house while in town visiting them. They brought me back to my friends house and by the time I got back, they were already calling me with the problem. I gave them the go ahead and my car was ready before lunch. The bill was less than what they quoted, and I got a three year warranty on my alternator. They even called me the next day to check on me and make sure I got to Savannah alright! These guys really care, and my friends said they are going to start using them too. I wish we had a shop like that in Savannah.

No Stars- if it were an option.\nTook My Auto in for repair. I had already had the engine light error codes pulled. I explained to the Receptionist what had been done to the auto just before bringing it into Hopewell Auto. I received a call a few hours later that it needed about an hour of Diagnostics. I didn't think this was necessary, but finally agreed. I was later called with an estimate of $1049.00. When I asked what would be done for the estimated amount, I was told that everything I had already done before was needed again. Even that my fuel filter was real dirty. It was changed last month!\nI was also told that my engine was dirty and needed a complete system cleaning., This was also done 3 weeks prior. \nOther problems that I asked to be checked were not even addressed in the estimate of over $1,000.\nNeedless to say, I declined the estimate and the repair.\nSo, I payed The $ 80 diagnostic fee. I had to return that night to drive the auto home. As I was driving the auto it was making noises and smoking badly. It sounded much worse than when I drove it to their shop. The mechanic had removed and lost a hose. The large hose that connects the throttle to the air filter was just laying on top of the engine. oil was spewing from the valve cover onto the manifold causing it to smoke. I had to pull over twice on the way home to reconnect the parts these ""Mechanics"" left disconnected and lost. When I called back the next morning to tell them what had happened, they said I needed to drive it back in! I barely made it home....I told them I would not do anymore damage to my engine than they had already caused. The manager was supposed to call me about two weeks ago. No call or message was ever received I do not Recommend this Business to anyone.

The window on the driver's side of my 1999 Beetle had stopped rolling up and down, and I had a guy come look at it when I had my car in Nashville over the summer. He estimated the price to be $230 for the repair. I am a college student, so I had to take some time to save up the amount of money to fix it. I brought my car back to Athens for fall semester and took it to Hopewell once I had saved up the money. The guy at Hopewell estimated that the price would be $430, and the guy in Nashville must not have not have realized that an entire other part was necessary for repair. Against my better judgment, I allowed Hopewell to go through with fixing my car, under one condition. I brought the car in on a Tuesday, and I was going out of town that weekend, so I needed my car back by Friday. I made it very clear that I needed the car by Friday morning, and I was assured repeatedly over the phone that the repairs would be done on time. Low and behold, Friday rolls around and I have received no phone call about my car. I called Hopewell, and after about an hour of phone tag with these people, he finally returns my call to tell me that the simply forgot to order the part I needed. Outraged, I went to Hopewell to pick up my car with no repairs done. When I went to check out, I assumed my bill would be very minimal because I had also had some anti-freeze put in the car and that should have been my only expense. The guy took my card and told me "that will be $986.54." I was about to explode on the guy for all of the repeated stupidity, before his boss walked up and informed him that they had not gone through with any of the repairs. I left with no charge and a coupon for a free oil change, but I took the receipt for the would-be repairs that were planned for my window. On the receipt, there was and extra $499.99 part that was ordered that they neglected to tell me about in the original estimate of $430. I have now taken my car to the VW dealership to have them fix the window, and they only charged me $275. I have never felt so taken advantage of by an auto repair shop in my life. It seems that they took one look at me, seeing that I am a 20 year old girl who known nothing about cars and tried to get as much money out of me that they could. I would never recommend these people to anyone. They are disorganized, foolish crooks and I hope that someone reads this and is kept from being ripped off so hugely like they tried to do to me.

My son called me last week saying his A/C had stopped working. He recently moved to the Athens area and is a student at UGA. I had hoped he would find an honest and reliable auto shop in Athens before he needed one, but he needed one NOW. I looked online and found many good references for Hopewell Tire and Auto. I emailed Luke and within a very short time he answered my email. My son took his vehicle in and within a couple of hours they had his air conditioner working again. David said the waiting room was comfortable and he did a bit of studying while waiting, he said there were drinks for the customers, everything was neat and clean and the people there were very nice. He found an honest and reliable tire and auto shop in Athens. It?s Hopewell Tire and Auto. I would recommend them to anyone needing repair, service or tires.

I have been going to Hopewell's since I was a (broke) student. They have always been honest and up front with my old car. They talked to my parents when major suff was needed so they felt good with Hopewell's too. I have been using them even when I bought a new car. I can not imagine going any where else but Luke's shop! Georgia the lab is nice too!

This is the best place I have been to. They take care of you, and being a college student, don't rip you off. My dorm roomate told me about them when I was a freshman, and I am a senior now. I hope to find another shop as good as this when I move from Athens! They have wi-fi in the waiting room too, and It's actually clean!

Pros: The experience of taking your car in

Cons: out of sugar for the hot tea?

Hopewell was always quick with whatever car work I needed done on my '87 Volvo when I lived on the west side of town. Prices were fair, and I never felt as though they suggested repairs I didn't need. I just wish I can find an equally trustworthy now that I've moved... it may even be worth it to drive to the other side of town for my auto repairs.

I have two sons that attend the University of Georgia and have cars at school. My husband and I had wondered what their options were if they ever had car problems. We worried that, being naive kids, local businesses might take advantage of them. As luck would have it, on a trip over to Athens, my husband and I had some car trouble. I asked a stranger in town for a recommendation and was directed to Hopewell Tire & Automotive. Our car limped into the shop. It was a blistering hot day and the car was loaded to the max with stuff for our boys who were moving into apartments. The folks at Hopewell opened their arms and made us feel like a miserable day was going to be alright. As we sat in the waiting room, we chatted with other customers. Most of them were long time customers and couldn't praise Hopewell enough. One lady drove 30 miles, from another city, to have here car serviced on a regular basis. She knew the owner and said he was the most honest man you would ever want to meet. We were almost glad, after all, that our car had broken down, since we ended up having a great location for our sons' emergency car repairs.
