The first few visits, it was the best sushi restaurant I've ever been to. The eel and all the special rolls were SO amazing. It was delicious, mouth watering good! The staff was great too. Very polite and respectful.
It was when we went during the weekend, that we had a problem. It was jammed packed (very small restaurant), the service was horrible, and they had a very limited menu. We didn't know that the menu was different during the weekend, so we asked about it and got a rude response. How were we to know that they had a different menu and didn't change it completely? They also only server water and wine during the weekend. Don't try asking for a soda unless you want a bunch of attitude.

I highly recommend going for dinner during the week when it's not crowded so you can experience the wonderful food and service. It is totally worth going during the week. It's still the best sushi I've ever had in Durham.

PROS: Best sushi in the Triangle. Wonderful service (during the WEEKDAY only)
CONS: Small restaurant so it gets very crowded. The decor and atmosphere is bad; very outdated. Also, bad service during the weekend. Don't go during the weekend when it's crowded!

I would have given this place 5 stars for the AMAZING sushi had it not been for the other issues...

I am by no means a food snob nor a sushi snob, but I know good sushi and in this case horrible sushi when I've had it. I've lived in SoCal and Seattle for the last 20yrs. so I can differentiate between the two. Horrible, horrible sushi

I work out in RTP and used to make the trip to Yamazushi at least once a week for lunch. They offer a wonderful lunch menu with several bento box lunches. The maki sushi is good, with the Hurricane Roll a must try. This Yama specialty

I just had dinner here for the first time, and was blown away by the food. I eat sushi frequently and have gotten used to traveling to Raleigh for it, but I won't be anymore. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, the wine and sushi rolls

I have been eating at Yamazushi for a few years now. I have eaten at most of the sushi restaurants on this list. Although I do not frequently dine-in (mostly take-out). I must say they have the best sushi & shrimp tempura in Durham! Try
