Some reviews come from a family or individuals out of obligation or request. This review is written out of pure respect and passion for the interactions we have had with Eric James and Dog Mastery. Being 10 year clients we started out with our dog Gunner who is the most ideal home and family protection dog anyone could ever ask for. During his training Eric always kept in mind our 4 children and the openness of our ranch to their many young friends, as well as our large friend and extended family base. Gunner is perfect around children and in ten years has never jumped on or even considered aggression to little ones. On the street our in defense of home or property he has been trained to perfection. Aloof to strangers and constantly vigilante if senses the slightest danger it will set him into a mode that will literally stop a gang fight. In 2008 as we exited a boat dock in Northern California two groups of men were rushing towards us from each side in the beginning staged of a bats and knives gang fight. My wife and I had all 4 of our children at the time ages 4, 6, 12, & 16. Gunner formed an offensive circle around us on his lead, that pushed the fight away from us and his aggressive barking and attempts to attack got all of the fighting mens attention. This safety barrier allowed us to get to our car and safely remove ourselves from this scary situation. On many occasions this well trained dog has shown his training and intelligence to the benefit and safety of our family.
Seeing that our Gunner is aging we decided to get him a mate. Eric James and Dog Mastery coordinated our timing with his T litter. We purchased Stella who unfortunately died by ingesting poison at 6 months old. When selecting her from the litter we were torn between her and her sister. We eventually selected Stella as she was the largest female but always liked the drive and personality of her sister, the runt. Stellas death was extended over a week and a half and no expense was spared in an effort to save her. In the end our family suffered the loss of our new loved one. My wife Lisa taking this the hardest of all, she was truly devastated. One night Eric James asked us to meet him in his home town of Orinda. Upon meeting him he presented us with Seven, the runt sister of Stella who had already completed puppy training. Eric was holding this special dog back to be sold as a fully trained adult. As a family we were stunned by the gift and the true kindness and generosity of our trainer seeing our family suffer and trying to help ease our pain. As Gunner was, Seven is now in training at Dog Mastery. She is all that we thought she would be as a puppy, with great drive, intelligence and natural tendency to protect. As my wifes dog she has been involved in all the training work and has found it to become an extremely enjoyable hobby. I might add that I would not like to be the bad guy between her and her dog. We cannot say enough about Eric James, the Dog Mastery staff and quality of animals that come from them. We have recommended many of our friends and family and will be Dog Mastery clients until Mr. James hangs up the leash.
Sincerely,
Joshua & Lisa Thompson

When my husband brought home a 3 week old German Shepherd, I wasn't thrilled, to say the least. Not only was I not ready for a new dog, but I definitely had never considered a German Shepherd. He assured me he would take charge and do the work it would take to care for Fred, including training. After a referral to DogMastery, he contacted Eric James. From the first meeting at our home, I could see this was no joke. This was going to be top notch training and that's what it's been. At 7 months old, our German Shepherd is amazing! Not only is he obedient but he is wonderful with our four kids, ranging from 19 to 2 years old. With every training session he continues to exceed our expectations. Thank you Eric and staff. What could've been a negative experience has turned out to be a great choice for our family, due to your awesome training program. We look forward to watching Fred continue to grow under your guidance.

When my husband and I decided to purchase a new puppy, we visited several kennel/training facilities in the area and spoke with many breeders throughout the country. We ultimately choose Marc Eric James and DogMastery and couldn't be happier with our decision. Our little girl goes everywhere with our family and people are amazed at how well behaved she is during my kids baseball games. She's currently enrolled in DogMastery's Home and Family protection program and is the star of the class! If you want a great dog or need training, we highly recommend DogMastery!

DogMastery has provided our K9 family with three beautiful, healthy and loyal German Shepherds. Our male dogs acquired thru DogMastery have shown excellent drives in all three needs for sport work and are loving companions that can be completely trusted in the general public. We take our dogs everywhere with us, and expect a stable temperament from our K9s , DogMastery has not disappointed us! Our female dog is now getting certified for therapy work, and is completing her American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen certification. We are proud to show off our dogs and get so many compliments about there coats and conformation.

DogMastery has made acquiring and owning a true German Shepherd simple and affordable for our family!
Training has also never been simpler for us, DogMastery meets our busy schedule and has no problem traveling to meet us and even come to our home. The prep work and foundation taught to the dogs before they were even sold to us was obvious in their behavior. Our veterinarian was astounded by the health from all three of our dogs. Our dogs are extremely tolerant when being examined by our vet and we are complimented on their obedience in the veterinary office.
There is nothing worse and more embarrassing then a poorly behaved patient!!!
A holistic, raw, hormone free diet was fed, and recommended to be continued by DogMastery. If you are looking for a sole company to turn to for a complete K9 package I wouldnt recommend anyone other than DogMastery !

We invested in our first protection dog with MEJ and what an exceptional animal! He is truly an Allstar with a loving nature and at the same time when called upon for protection work, he performs like an Allstar. I feel completely safe with him at my side at all times and on our daily power hikes in the woods. We highly reccommend Marc Eric and Dogmastery!

My family and I have been dealing with Eric James for years. Eric is a top notch dog trainer who truly has a passion for what he does. His job isn't done once the training of your dog is complete. He takes the time to do follow up with you and stays in touch with you on a regular basis. I have met many trainers before and Eric is the Dog Master. He has a way with dogs that is beyond anyone else's potential. He took a stubborn dog of ours and made her into the most obedient and best protection dog we have ever owned. Eric is easy to deal with because of his dedication. He not only answers questions when you have them but can diagnose a problem you are having over the phone and set up a training session to quickly remedy the issues you are having within a couple classes. I highly recommend Dog Mastery to anyone who is looking for a trainer. His techniques work and it shows. This is coming from someone who has experienced it first hand. He adapts to any type of training you want for your dog. If you want handler protection out in a public place he can do that. If you want protection for you and your family at your home then he does that as well. He makes the sessions fun and practical. If you don't believe me then give him a call.

My husband and I decided to send our two older dogs (10 and 11 years old) to DogMastery for the obedience program. At first we were skeptical about sending them away for such a long period of time due to their age. But WOW! When we got them back, they were different dogs! All the bad habits that they have done for years were gone! Now our household is more enjoyable and I believe our dogs are happier too!
I would highly recommend obedience training for ALL dogs, and DogMastery is definitely the route to go!

I was looking for a German Shepherd dog and looked throughout the country. I finally decided on Dogmastery and Marc Eric James based on reviews of his abilities and the results of his training that I read on line and conversations I had with him. Although I was in Minnesota MEJ ensured that my new family member was well suited and well trained for me and my family needs. I was not able to visit with Marc Eric and Tara prior to her coming home so I was a bit nervous when I picked her up from the airport. Immediately Tara impressed me with her abilities. She was exactly as advertised! Tara was simply the best dog I have ever owned. Unfortunately Tara passed earlier this year. The compassion that was displayed by MEJ and his team when we informed him was comforting and truly a first class act. As my family and I contemplate another dog there is only one person we want training our new family member Marc Eric James and Dogmastery.

The knowledge, assistance and wealth of information I received from Marc Eric and the DogMastery staff was exceptional. I was looking for a dog capable of performing many tasks due to my families hectic schedule and my yearly long seasons. I travel a minimum of once a week for seven months out of the year and my wife wanted a live alarm in the home. My family needed a dog that was manageable, great in the general public and exceptional with my kids. I had heard about Marc aka EJ from many people and once we spoke, I understood why people speak so highly of his abilities. Sultan is a magnificently trained dog that keeps my family safe while I'm away during the season. Thanks MEJ and DogMastery!

We got our puppy from Marc when she was two months old. We were extremely pleased that she was crate trained and potty trained, so that she slept in her crate at night, and easy to retrain for where she went potty. She's of good temperment, smart, and very affectionate. Now we've been relying on Marc for further training. I highly recommend Marc for his puppies and training.

Dog Mastery does it all! Schutzhund Training, Security Training, General Obedience, etc... I have a Shepherd, Doberman and Pitbull. Both the Shepherd and Doberman were hand-picked for me by Dog Mastery to suit my family and business needs. Not only has the staff at Dog Mastery helped get them into shape for their respective tasks (Schutzund for the Shepherd, Security for the Doberman, Obedience for the Pitbull), but they also helped me to build adequate living facilities for my pets and taught me to feed them the proper foods for maximum health. Marc has an exceptional understanding of pets' needs, drives and personality styles and he tailors their training regimens to suit. I tried a couple of trainers and even tried training my pitbull myself, only to get dubious results. I found out about Dog Mastery from a friend, gave them a call, and have since been nothing but impressed with the unlocking of the great potential inside in each of my pets. They are a cut above any other trainer/training system I have encountered. Having well-trained, obedient pets will give you peace of mind whether at home, away or out walking the dogs. I am happy that I made the investment in making sure my furry friends are as well!

I have a 3 year old rescue Chocolate Lab named, Rocco. Its my understanding that Rocco had some very basic home training during the early stages of his life. So even though home life with the family was mostly quiet and pleasant, he was completely out of control when he came in contact with other dogs or house guests. Having an active family with a busy social life, greetings (of which there are many) in general were dreaded.

Thankfully, Marc James came into our lives. After researching trainers in the area and seeing some of his dogs in action, I knew right away that I was going to work with Marc. We sent Rocco to his 4 week board & training program. When he came back, we could not believe the changes that had taken place. Gone was the unruly and super aggressive behavior. In its place was a loving, much more sociable member of our family.

Most importantly, Marc has worked with my entire family on how we can be better owners ourselves. I cannot express enough just how happy we all are. There is no doubt in my mind that for any and every dog that we get, we will use Marc and Dog Mastery Inc.

There are people who can train dogs and cant communicate, and then there are people who can communicate but cant train dogs. Marc Eric excels in both arenas. I've been fortunate to watch him train several dogs and handlers over the past 6 months, while assisting me from BH to Schutzhund 3. Rookie handlers are introduced to different theories and taught how to be successful and communicate effectively with there pet at the dogs pace, not the owner. Experienced competitors receive input on how to improve their technique, methods, and communication with their dog. I've found training with DogMastery is always insightful and I always come away with a new approach on what I can do to improve my handling and dogs performance. Marc's approach is to give the handler the skill set and knowledge to improve your performance as a team. As a helper, he is exceptional! I've worked with many trainers and clubs and very few have the ability to read a dog and address any area in which your pet might be deficient. He is one of only a handful of trainers in the world who I would classify as a world level trainer and helper. Most importantly, I trust him completely with the safety of my dog. I recommend him without reservation to anyone interested in purchasing a german shepherd or training there dog in protection or obedience sports!

I was very fortunate to purchase my first German shepherd from Eric James who lived to be 14 years old. He was a magnificent dog out of his kennel, vom Mutigen Zwinger, that performed every single task we could imagine. We purchased Draq as a puppy and then sent him back to DogMastery to complete his training. My wife and I have never seen or owned a German Shepherd that behaved so well in the general public, but in a split second would give his life. He was a joy until the day he passed. We just put a deposit on a puppy out his U-litter. Without question, we highly recommend Mr. James and DogMastery!

Marc Eric trained our active "little" girl to perfection. We utilized his, 6 week, board and train program. We have an Airedale that is full of personality, energy and enjoys getting into mischief. Upon her return from DogMastery, Marc taught us how to handle, read and interact with our girl on an entirely different level. We now have a very well behaved, fully trained family member that is a joy to have around. Thank you DogMastery!!

Cannon is a well behaved dog in public. He is outgoing and confident with tons of energy. I know that he will excel in any discipline that is bestowed upon him, be it a family, protection schutzhund, or sport dog.
Furthermore, I have been training with Eric for 10 months. With detailed instructions and encouragement from Eric I have obtained my Schuzthund 2 title with my female Bella vom Marischal within 3 months. Bella is the dam of Cain vom Marischal (Cannon).

I would like to give props to Eric James for the expert attention he has given my dog Cuba. I appreciate how he handles my dog and the progress he's made in Schutzhund traning. He has a firm but gentle way of training. He stresses being fair and corrects in a positive manner and connects personally with the dog. I also appreciate, just about every session I've had with Eric, he explains what happened that day and tells me what I need to work on for the next session. He is informative and personable. I TRUST HIM WITH MY DOG. He always trains according to the temperament of each individual dog. I have moved to Atlanta and I really miss his relationship with me and my dog. He is amazing.

I was referred to DogMastery by my neighbor after an attempted burglary recently. My family had been contemplating purchasing a dog for several months and the invasion of our privacy was the final straw. My husband and I spoke with several breeders, trainers and behavioral specialists throughout the country and bay area. We ultimately choose Marc Eric based on his knowledge of the breed and impeccable training resume. His reference document consisted of 50 satisfied clients that had either purchased fully trained German shepherds or entered his formal protection programs. Although our property is gated, I definitely feel more comfortable walking the grounds with my newest family member by my side. We highly recommend his services.

I first met Eric James in 1991 while he was studying under his uncle at Pro Train in Oakland, California. There was probably about 10 young men who had aspirations of becoming dog trainers. Some were very talented in obedience, others in behavior and a few in protection. Probably half the group went on to become professional trainers in specialized fields. The only individual talented in all facets was Eric James. Which is clearly evident today when you look closely at his resume. I've read the many reviews below and each one tells a story about his training passion and dedication to the breed.

DogMastery has trained several dogs for my family, friends and teammates since we first met 19 years ago. I could recount many amazing training sessions and discussions that I've had with Mr. James. But simply put, I wouldn't utilize any other trainer, to keep my family safe, while I'm away during the season!

I've owned several working dogs in my lifetime and have been very fortunate to work with some of the best trainers in the world. When my husband and I moved to the bay area from Belgium, we wanted to locate an experienced individual to work our GSD. We spoke with several trainers, in addition to visiting two or three clubs that supposedly trained at a very high level. I was very surprised to see the lack of consistency and overall understanding of developing drives and work ethic for any level of sport.

We located Marc Eric purely by coincidence. A GSD breeder, who's associated with the Knoche family, had him listed as a trainer he'd worked with previously. After calling home and speaking with several competitors here in the states, I was surprised to hear how highly regarded this gentlemen was in the sport. Outside your usual sport gossip, the one consistent comment that always surfaced; probably one of the most talented working dog trainers in the world. After three weeks of searching, we finally located Marc Eric "DogMastery" and set up an appointment. He wasn't really interested in the pedigree, titles or accomplishments of our boy, just his age. What a relief, if you have "working dogs" you understand that statement. It's very rare to locate a trainer who doesn't just work the animal, a certain way, based on his lineage. We arrived early to observe him work four dogs before our appointment. First let me tell you, three out of the four dogs were alternative breeds.(2 Hovawarts, Doberman and GSD) I had never seen a Hovawart in Germany that didn't do more than just run the blinds and take half hearted prey bites. While watching Marc Eric work these dogs and channel their drives appropriately based on their disposition was very impressive. I later learned they had obtained there Schutzhund 2, 3 and FH titles under respectable judges and his tutelage, pretty amazing.

My boy Zeke is a very large, athletic male that is very clear in the work, however, enjoys dominating and intimidating the helper. We started out on the tie out and from there went to the blinds and open field. Marc Eric worked my boy effortlessly while keeping his drives very balanced. It was almost like a sparring session, Marc Eric would take him to a point and allow Zeke to dictate the next move. It's very rare to locate a trainer that has the ability to change drives mid stream to benefit the animal, while never missing a beat. The biggest compliment a seasoned handler can give a trainer during a session is that of utter silence. This means the trainer is working the animal in a manner that is very clear to the owner. Our only responsibility is to voice the obedience commands while handling our dog appropriately. Marc Eric is an individual whom my husband and I consider a world class trainer. A gentlemen who has the ability, intellect and patience to train a variety of breeds, while also having the talent to work dogs on the World and National level. You can add us to list of working folk that consider Marc Eric a rare gem!!

I hope this review helps anyone who is looking for a dog trainer. I first want to say that I have had several dogs in my lifetime and I never felt the need to get them trained. I was under impression that as dogs stay with you they will eventually learn to behave the way you would want them too. I think one thing we all need to understand is that dogs are very intelligent. They find a way to outsmart the owner. I have a Cane Corso which is a dominant breed. I got him when he was 1 year old. It took him a week to figure out ways to fool me in every way. It got to the point that I thought I was gonna have to give him back. Instead I felt that let me try to get him trained and hopefully I am able to keep him. To keep the story short I interviewed several dog trainers and one day ran into Marc Eric Jones (Dog Mastery). He was working with his German Sheperds. It was amazing the way they were responding off leash out in the public. He didnt have to scream. Short quite commands and the dogs would behave and not move an inch unless he asked them too. The main thing that got me was my dog which is 100lbs out there looking at the sheperds but they were not distracted at all where my dog is going crazy wanting to go play with them. All I want to say is that after 4 months into the training program I have a completely different dog. A complete change. Marc is an amazing dog trainer. Money well worth it. If anyone needs to speak to me more on my experience feel free to call me @ 510.928.1234 or email: 411bapu@gmail.com

I first met Eric James about a year and half ago before I approach him about dog training I watch him train several dogs of different breeds and ask several dog trainers in the local area about him all spoke HIGHLY of him. I was amaze at his style of training and the way he demanded the dogs attention with little or no correction. He showed me how to use a simple game of fetch and a playground course to build confidence in a puppy who was a little shy at the time after just two weeks you the playground routine the puppy begin to complete the course on his on. When you train with DogMastery "ERIC" not only trains your dog, but teaches you as well on how to become a great handler for your dog. His referral service is superior just as his training if you are looking for a GSD he is definitely the man to talk to, but has an overall knowledge of all working dog breeds and will tell you which breed is best for your family. I have also referred people to Eric an all have told me that they where very pleased with his service. The Name Says It All DOGMASTERY "ERIC" is definitely a master at his craft an I would recommend him to anyone who wants their dog train properly or looking for a dog of any kind.

I was introduced to Marc Eric James aka E.J. in 1993. He was an educated and exuberant young man who I immediately noticed had a special gift. I had been in the industry of sentry, protection and law enforcement dogs in the 70's and 80's and watched many "trainers" come and go. For many years, if you mentioned the term protection dog trainer in California and Eric's name wasn't the topic of discussion, you'd be surprised. I've been one of the fortunate few to chronicle his development and watch him sustain through many adverse situations over the years. An individual that during one period, 1997-2005, helped more people obtain working dog titles than any trainer, in this area, had ever imagined. I can recall when he was heading multiple training clubs or groups in Vallejo, Davis and Humboldt county while still raising his two daughters. Many people forget the era of helpers working for free or $10 per dog. E.J. single handedly changed the overall landscape of what club helpers or protection trainers could charge in the area. The thought of paying an individual, a substantial fee, to assist solely with the protection phase of schutzhund was pretty much a novelty or non-existent in many parts of this country. No facility or individual had a clientele like E.J. If you were an athlete, entertainer or affluent individual that needed a fully trained protection dog, his name was the only name for many years. So many people, including my nephew, benefited from Mr. James it's un-fathomable. This man, at one time, was one of maybe 5 individuals in the world that could be classified as a World and National level trainer and helper. While being chosen as a helper for several National events, he was responsible for at least a half dozen people who participated in the WUSV championships. People who consider themselves working dog enthusiasts will recall the many dog/handler teams that under his tutelage obtained working titles. Most people would say, what's so special about that? Well it was the people most clubs, trainers and outsiders believed never would obtain a working title, let alone with a pronounced score. (without paying off a european judge with trips, fancy dinners and promises of more vacations to the U.S.)

Many people have wondered and made outlandish presumptions on his current absence from the sport. That's a question only Mr. James can answer. One thing that's non-debatable is where his place in dog training history will ultimately lie; most wouldn't argue the dog training Hall of Fame, if one is ever created.

Marc Eric has made me a lifetime believer in his uncanning ability to communicate with any four legged dog. He trained a pitbull of mine who was out of another great dog he was training, angel. Bandit was one of northern California's best fully trained pitbulls in its history. Eric was the cause of me having a high driven superb as an athlete type of family protection dog like that . My dog was confident and extremely capable. He was most obiedient and I always had total control of him. Not only did Eric train my dog, but he trained me as well in which me and my dog was an unstopable team.If you live in norhtern california and you own a dog, no matter what type it is and you decide that you need a trainer, then it would be almost a grave mistake if Eric didn't train your dog. Go ahead and ask for his long list of clientel, the list goes on and on. As a matter of fact I'm looking for him as we speak because I have another prospect.

My family has resided in the Lamorinda community for over 20 years. My neighbor, who has also utilized DogMastery's services, informed my wife of the fictitious reviews on insider pages. I'm appalled that these reviews are allowed to remain posted. The practices described in those reviews, such as "irresponsible breeder", are tall tales and couldn't be further from the truth!

I was first introduced to Marc Eric through the principal of my daughters elementary school. Although our property is gated and equipped with cameras, I grew up with large breed dogs and understood the advantages of having one in the family. My wife jogs daily with a group around the Rim trail, usually before sunrise. Our Bullmastiff, Rusty, who had just turned 7 was never built to jog or walk 3 miles a day. Well, unless it was to remove food off the picnic table. I initially hired Marc Eric to address some behavioral issues with Rusty. His ability to assess the reasoning behind Rusty's actions, in such a short period of time, was amazing. When communicating with the family, he has the uncanny ability to explain each issue in laymen terms. If you've ever had any experience working with dog trainers, you have a better appreciation of what I'm voicing.

While working with Rusty, we were introduced to several German shepherds that were currently in training. My family always looked forward to an educated discussion on the genetic and overall disposition of the breed. My wife and I would always comment, to one another, the pure affinity he has for the German shepherd dog. After several family meetings, we decided our next pet would be a GSD. Although we didn't request references, since both my neighbor and I had utilized his training services, Marc Eric wanted us to speak with several additional clients. He explained these individuals had either purchased puppies or fully trained German shepherds from his personal breedings. The reference list consisted of 25 families! My wife called several of the ladies, who owned dogs over the age of 8, to discuss there pet current health. Each lady raved about not having any hip, spinal or temperament issues with there dogs. The next day we had the opportunity to meet Jara and Olivia (Lucy) from his J and O litters. Marc Eric was very clear, in earlier discussions, our only option was a female. They were magnificent, however, already owned by other families. Well, we didn't realize Puma was waiting patiently in the truck. Needless to say, when she jumped off the tailgate, it was like all eyes on me people! A very confident and beautiful solid black female with a ton of personality. We were sold!

Puma is excellent with my kids and any children that come to visit. She jogs with my wife 4 days a week and she and Rusty are best buddies.

My wife, neighbor and I believe the stories below are far-fetched. We suggest anyone considering DogMastery contact Marc Eric directly and request a consultation and references.

My family was referred to DogMastery through the owner of Wheel Away Cycle Shop in Cambell. I live in Saratoga and drove home, one evening, to a burglary in progress. My children were in the car and my husband and I were in a literal panic. Do we confront the individuals who are in the process of taking our possessions? We had already called the police and they had yet to arrive. Honestly, I can't recollect what was going through my mind in that short period of time. The following day, we decided, the entire family needed to take a looooong bike ride. Of course, not to any one's surprise, my teen age daughters bike is on a flat. So we're off to see Rick at Wheel Away to have it repaired. Amazingly, like a sign from above comes this German shepherd, Isis, to greet us at the door. A large black and tan female that is obviously well trained because she's roaming free in a very busy cycle shop. My husband and I looked at one another and said "we need a dog"! We talked to Rick and he explained the process he went through to purchase Isis and spoke highly of this man Eric James. I said ok, let's give this man a call. He, fortunately, gave us a heads up that the purchase amount may total the cost of our current vehicle. We weren't swayed, the encounter the evening before was a big wake up call!! We called Eric the following day to set up an appointment. He returned our call immediately and listened to the events that had taken place. His suggestions and approach were very conservative. We had never owned a German shepherd or any pet since the kids had been born. Eric suggested going with a young adult or adolescent. He felt the incident we encountered was random and more than likely wouldn't occur again for quite some time, if ever, once a dogs presence was noticed on the property. We met Eric one busy morning at Peet's in Los Gatos and were introduced to, Lupe and Lesse, the two dogs he felt were ideal for our family. A beautiful pair of solid black males that were strikingly gorgeous, confident, outgoing dogs. We were in utter amazement that these two 13 month old dogs had no issues with people, small dogs or the general activity taking place around them. Since both my husband and I lean towards the pessimistic side, we told Eric we'd like to think about it and we'd give him a call. He advised us to take our time because having a pet was like introducing another child into the household. Honestly, I was already sold, once the toddler approached Lupe and he rolled over on his back and licked the two year old in the face. Needless to say, we purchased Lesse and another family from Los Gatos bought Lupe. I wanted Lupe, however, with 3 boys and a husband already in the house we needed more females. I've procrastinated on posting reviews for Eric because his business has been so successful, I felt there was no need. I'm dismayed by the individuals who've posted comments below for personal or business advantages. There is no possible way these persons have ever met, trained or purchased a dog from Eric James. Lesse is doing great and my daughter attempted to sneak her off to college freshman year. She will be a junior this year and we're contemplating getting a puppy out of Ignite, Isis's sister, and granting my daughter her request. I think we'll go with a male this time!!

I have been a part of the working dog world for some years now and during that time I have seen the full range of trainers and dog people, from the worst most unscrupulous "trainers" who are only in it for the money, all the way to some of the top trainers and breeders in the industry who truly care about their craft. Marc Eric is among the TOP people on that list. He is extremely knowledgeable and spends the time and effort to mold some of the best German Shepherds I have seen in the area. There are people who just have dogs and then there are people who take on the responsibility of having the best dogs. There is no way that one has top competition dogs as well as produces quality litters the way Marc Eric does by practicing sub par husbandry and training techniques as some other reviewers have described. It is impossible to skimp or cut corners and be as successful with dogs as Mr. James has. You either have to be fully accountable and responsible as a trainer and breeder you don't play the game successfully, period. The people at the bottom of the training and breeding list that I have come across don't last long and Marc Eric has been a successful part of the dog world for close to twenty years.

My experience with DogMastery and Marc Eric was a very positive and rewarding process. After searching on the internet and through several publications; the Robb Report, Dupont Registry and DogFancy. I was surprised, however, not shocked at the cost of a fully trained protection dog. After several months of research and attending a few schutzhund clubs, I realized the amount of time and work that is put into preparing a dog for a new family. Upon my return home from a business trip, I decided to utilize a referral from a client. It was a fairly "high profile" client so I was thinking there is no way I can afford his dogs. It was a pleasant surprise to find out my intuition was incorrect. Both my husband and I are executives at corporations that require we spend quite a bit of time at the office. I reside in a community that is considered by most peoples standards as very safe. However, my comfort level when coming home at night was less than confident. When you hear constant rumbling in the bushes, even if it's only deer and raccoons, it's very unsettling. I needed dogs that had the ability to be indoor/outdoor pets and be handled by more than just myself and husband. After visiting Marc Eric at his home, I immediately saw the difference between all the facilities we had gone to visit. His company didn't have 5 or 10 dogs to bring out for display. Initially, he requested I forward an outline detailing what I'd like in a pet. I explained our occupations and that during our spare time we hike and jog religiously. DogMastery introduced my husband and I to Flash and Gia from his F and G litters. I fell in love immediately and assumed we'd load them up and be on our way. I was mistaking, after three weeks of meeting at my property, neutral sites and feeding both at his home, they were finally ready to become part of our lives. The transition from a well behaved greeting to kisses and outwardly affection towards both my husband and I was an amazing experience. Marc Eric has been responsible for maintaining our pets, throughout the week, for several years. You will not find a more reputable trainer of protection dogs in this country.

My family has been using DogMastery for nearly 15 years. During this time, I've NEVER experienced any of the issues the "individuals" below are describing! We have purchased two fully trained German shepherds and most recently a puppy out of his S litter, that's now 8 months old. The first dog we purchased was out of his A-litter, that's still with us at the age of 14. I have three boys that are 4, 8 and 15 years of age. DogMastery made sure every dog or puppy we purchased had the temperament to handle our busy household. After Anek, we initially wanted a puppy out of his C-litter. He felt those puppies dispositions wouldn't be an ideal fit for my family at that particular time. My wife was 5 months pregnant and having a newborn baby and puppy, under one roof, wasn't really an ideal situation from his perspective. So we skipped the puppy route and purchased our second fully trained dog Kyla out of his K-litter. My job requires I travel almost 6 months out of the year and neither myself or family would feel safe without Anek, Kyla and Sosa protecting our home.

I have been very pleased with DogMastery. I hired Marc Eric James to train my dog ten years ago and since then I have purchased two more dogs from him. One for my family and one for my Mom who lives out of state. Mr James flew to my mom with her dog and made sure that he was fully acclimated to her home. He trained her how to handle her companion and it has been life changing for her. She feels safe and loves her dog like a child. She calls Mr. James on occasion to ask him advice and he is always pleased to help her out. I was referred to him by someone who knows that I like to hire only the best -- and that is what I got with DogMastery. Excellent service, excellent training, excellent dogs.

Marc Eric is a fantastic dog trainer and a great person. He has been training dogs in this area for over twenty years. He trained my dog two years ago and I am very pleased. The 15 references he gave me before I hired him all raved about him. He continues to come back and help me when I feel I need a re-fresher and I learn something new every time he works with us. A few of my friends in the community (3 to be exact) have purchased dogs from Marc Eric and they are as pleased as I am. If you are looking for a dog that will protect you and your family you would be wise to call DogMastery.

Dogmastery is amazing! Marc trained my doberman, Gigi and changed my life. Gigi had what people would call "anger management problems." I was hesitant about putting gigi through the obiedience program but was assured that my dog would see a different man in the mirror by the time the program was done. After the first two weeks, I already saw improvement in my Gigi. Normally when we would play ball she would not let the ball go and would start to growl at me. But with Marc's excellent training, that no longer occurred. Marc's program can be a bit pricey but the expense is definetly worth it. Marc is amazing!

The experience I have had so far with my pup Daisy (almost 7 months) is wonderful! She is a beautiful, smart, adorable German Sheperd. And from the very first moment I saw her, it was literally "love at first site!" We have another German Sheperd that is 3 years old and his name is Duke. They are inseperable! We wouldnt have it any other way, she was meant to be in our family and just fits perfectly! She definatly met our expectations and we can't wait to breed our dogs and have such beautiful, loving offsprings. Our dogs are currently just family dogs, we hope to get them in a dog competion sometime soon, but we live hectic lifestyles so that hasnt been an option for us yet. And of course in are eyes Daisy would definatly take first place! Working with DogMastery was a great experience and Eric made it an easy process to go through, I would definatly recommend them! They make dreams come true. Thank You for everything!

I have a high energy dog that did me in, but Eric took her and made her into a Champion schutzhunde dog. She is now under control and no one could have done it but Eric. He used repetition and kindness to make her a dog to be proud of and I could not be happier. I am sure she is happier too!

We have had two fantastic German Shepard pups from Eric at Dog Mastery. We specified family dogs and were given ideal picks that fit our family well - with fantastic temperaments. Both dogs were beginning puppy trained and took well to further training from us (one is still quite young but he is coming along well). We've seen adult dogs trained by Eric and they are wonderful to watch.
