We have had many issues with Allied Waste and would not recommend their services. Their customer service is terrible. They sent us to collections with no notice because we didn't return a trash can that was at our house when we moved in.

I have had many trash pick-up services since I go with the lowest cost carrier. Never had I ever had a trash company require that I cancel their service - thus continuing to bill. What I pay for is when I am serviced. This company cannot determine when trash is never picked up when the trash is never put out and continues their service. Every other service company I've used does not pick up if I did not pay for an extension...this is only logical - not to Allied Waste. Beware, if you do not cancel this company you will be charged for several months of service that you never used. Stay away from this company - a money-grabbing company to say the least.

""You have been an excellent long-time customer and we want to keep you"" She stated she would check with her boss and get back to me. No call back, and ANOTHER fee. All said Allied added three additional fees. Calls to resolve the issue have been ignored. We finally gave up after three voicemails to her. We have cancelled Allied and switched to another provider. Our neighborhood does not have an HOA but we do meet monthly and discuss things like the services we all use/ We will be offering a promotional deal by our new provider and intend to see that all the homes in our small neighborhood make the switch away from Allied. Believe the reviews you see here. This company is aggressive in marketing and cheaper than some but falls short in service.

I have read the rest of the reviews and we have never had a problem with this company. Our driver is wonderful. One morning we missed putting the trash out my son ran after the trash man...he came to collect our trash. There have been times he walked the cans up to me as I was coming out for them.
Whenever I have to call customer service I am treated wonderfully.

Contine to break branched off a tree in front of my home. They don't have to hug the curb all the way down the street between stops!At Xmas they have sheddedd strands of lights on the tree. and for the past 6 mo. the have broken several branches. Today I was out there and it still happened. The driver said to me.."" I'm slowly killing your tree"". I said yes you are and I would like it to stop> There is no reason for you to bust all the branches each week. He said he'll be more careful. This company will subjectively decide to bill you extra for having too many bags of trash set out, maybe the driver got up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. If you don't pay the extra, equivalent to about a month's service for an extra 10 seconds of work, they will fine you $35 and interrupt your service. Do they really think people don't have a choice of who to use for trash service? I suggest you avoid this company like the plague.

Allied Waste has been one of the worst companies I have dealt with. When I first signed up the garbage service started right away. But it took them almost 6 weeks to get my recycling service started. And the only reason it finally did start was because I called every week to find out when they were sending me my recycling container. They could never tell me when the recycling bin was going to be delivered. Then one day a little bin was delivered, big enough to place in 4-5 milk containers. For 2 weeks in between pick up they deliver a small bin, so much for encouraging recycling. When I received my next statement, which was my first full quater statement. It was $130. I was shocked! $30 in fuel recovery cost, $15 to deliver a garbage can they told me was required, $15 to deliver a recycling bin that held nothing. Then the cost of trash service and the additional fee for recycling services, which was never explained to me. Who pays $100 every 3 months for garbage p/u? I contacted them and spoke to Sheranda. She was so RUDE! She refused to help me. She insisted the person who set up my service would have told me about all the fees. Well news flash...they didnt. So I called back to cancel my service. And spoke to Maria, she was very pleasant and apologized but still I cancelled. She told me since I cancelled my service before the new quater I had a zero balance due. ZERO BALANCE OWED! And they would be picking up my garbage can. Well they never picked up my garbage can. And have not sent me another statement, notice, or called me since I spoke to Maria in August 2008. It is now mid October and someone from the collections department is calling stating I owe a $48 balance. WHAT?!?! For what? He didn't even know. He is supposed to be calling me tomorrow. We'll see how that turns out. But avoid using Allied Waste Services at all costs!!! Horrible Horrible Horrible. I am going with another company now and am quite happy with my new companies services!

Our family is trying to do the right thing by recycling. This company makes it nearly impossible. They miss pick-up about every other time, which is every two weeks anyway, so by the time they come, a month recycling has been sitting around. There have been times where we waited six weeks.

I have been reasonably satisified with their residential service. Additionally, they have taken large amounts of trash on numerous occasions. Recently, I ordered a 20 yard dumpster from their commercial division. There service agreement said that they would charge an additional charge of $150 if the unit was not emptied or returned within 13 days. During this period my mother-in-law died back in Iowa, and I was unable to spend enough time to fill the dumpster before I returned. On the 13th day, they refused to grant me a time extension, even after I spoke to 3 different people. Not wanting to be charged the $150, I had it picked up only 2/3 full. These people should all be named Richard Cranium!

Allied Waste missed three pick-ups in a row. After the second missed pick-up I called and they did pick-up the trash the following day. But, the next week they missed my pick-up again. When I called customer service to complain, he said they could not pick up my trash because the driver could not get onto my street.

I have tried calling to get this straightened out but only get a recording talking about their hours and how their services are on time. Customer service can't explain why this is happening - which doesn't give us much hope for improvement. While the customer service representatives are friendly and apologetic - if they can't satisfy our complaint with an actual trash pickup, it isn't very helpful.
