Todd Stewart's Ben Franklin Plumbing Garrett Street location in Lewis Center, OH, License #28673/45086. The management is considerably disorganized with both abrasive personnel and questionable practice. A document of my experience: When I called on 12/7/10 to make an appointment, I ended up calling 3 times because 1) the person who answered the phone, Dyanne (strictly my opinion) was rude and I hoped that if I called back I could speak with someone else, 2) the 2nd time I called back she hung up on me, 3) I just assumed it was a bad connection overall and thought perhaps the bad connection was just on my part ?? I called back.

Being out of state from the property being serviced, I asked 1) if I could arrange payment via credit card transaction and for an email confirmation to have for my records. She stated the credit card service was unavailable because it was being "audited" and that she could send an email with the invoice. I asked for a confirmation of the appointment which she said she could do, but after waiting, I ended up calling back to ask for the confirmation email. When I did, Dyanne stated that she didn't send one because I verbally received the confirmation from her. When she sent me an email, it was from DYANNE STEWART [drgnldy66@msn.com], her personal account and contained the following:

"YOUR APPOINTMENT IS SCHEDULED FOR DEC. 8, 2010 BETWEEN 12-2.
IF YOU HAVE ANY FUTHER QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL ME 614-291-3131

THANK YOU
Dyanne Stewart"

When I asked if there was a company-sponsored confirmation, she stated she sent the confirmation from her personal account because it was too much of a "hassle" to log into the company email system (she had to wait on the owner to do this) and it would be a day or so before he was in the office. I let it go. The service appointment for my place was for a leak in the hot water shower stem and it went from $242 quote to a $444 quote because per the plumber, they don't make my shower stems anymore and he had to pick them up from a special supplier and that he had to replace all of the stems as a set. As an out of state property owner, I wasn't on site, and therefore took his word for it. I agreed and the service was rendered. This was on 12/8/10. Between 12/8/10 - 12/15/10 I didn't receive an invoice via email nor mail from the franchise.

On 12/15/10, I received a call from a woman (cell no:740-297-8499) who worked for the franchise. She was abrasive and indicated in a voice mail I had not paid my invoice. NOTE: I still had not received an invoice from the location. On 12/17/10 I received a voice message from Todd Stewart who again stated he has a problem with me in that I had not paid my invoice. When I called him back, I informed him of the experience and told him that as of 12/17/10, I had received 2 abrasive phone calls and no invoice from his location. He emailed me from his personal email [mailto:todd_stewart14@yahoo.com], the invoice. I told him I would remit payment. With the holidays, the invoice was not a priority and I was on travel. When I came back on 12/30, there were voice mails from Dyanne on 12/29 and 12/30 regarding the invoice. I called back and explained that I still have it in mind to send a check for the invoice and asked again if I could submit a debit/credit card payment which would have made it quick and simple and done over the phone. She once again stated the credit card machine was being "audited" which again didn??t make sense to me (having worked in project management for Keybank, I??ve never known a machine to be audited. Transactions would be validated for accuracy if there was an issue with amounts, but not audited). By the way their communication arrangements were made, I would say they didnot want to pay the merchant service fees for credit/debit transactions. I started relaying my concerns about the franchise with her and whether it was being run out of a valid location, which she became defensive about and she stated "they've" been around since 1928 and she said that I can voice my concerns to Corporate. I told her I would send a check which I still had planned to do (and I had) and that I would contact Corporate with my concerns. I hung up and about 5 minutes later, received a call from Todd Stewart who was complaining to Dyanne as I picked up the phone. When he was finally approachable on the phone, he was confrontational and stated, "I hear you have issues with my franchise". I told him that I would prefer to let Corporate know about them. From there, he said, "well here is what I??m going to do. I'm going to put a lien against your property.". At that moment, I said 'sir' and he hung up on me.

I understand that the location may have issues with out of state property owners. However, in 2 weeks, I had 5 calls and a mechanics lien threat. This experience was truly unfavorable and I've had nothing but buyer??s remorse.
