My son is currently enrolled in the inaugural Kindergarten class at Oak Grove Preschool and Kindergarten. We are so pleased with the program, his wonderful kindergarten teachers, classroom, and director and feel so blessed that this was available for us to sign up to after his graduation from Oak Grove Preschool. We did not want to give this school up! It is 5 days a week from 9-1 so he is able to benefit from the extra hour that the public school classrooms do not have.

The class size is only 12-14, which is about half of what public kindergarten classrooms are currently at, with one main teacher and an assistant. He is receiving one on one time with his teacher several times during the week. I am so pleased with the attention he is receiving during that one on one time and he is also able to work in 4-5 child groups as well. I know that this would not be the case if he were in public school.

The classroom is focused, loving, challenging, and is teaching my son how to make good choices on his own, do things independently, treat others with respect, and to have fun!! Every day all the children are having recess and lunch together and fostering the feel of a little family. He is excited to go to school and I know he is receiving a top notch education that doesn't exclude the love and knowledge of God (reading groups, computer time, music class, chapel, math, science, social studies, writing, etc). He is reading at a 1st/2nd grade level and his teachers are finding ways to challenge him and improve his skills and I feel like he is being catered to at the level he needs.

I am always receiving pictures from the classroom on things the children are doing, papers and notes keeping parents informed, and I love that the parents are welcomed to come volunteer in and out of the classroom. Being involved and kept in the loop is something I feel is a necessity to a child's education and Oak Grove Kindergarten is amazing with this!

If you are looking for a private kindergarten for your son or daughter, I recommend Oak Grove Kindergarten. It is the best choice I have made for my family and love seeing him and his love for learning grow each day.

I just cant say enough positive things about Oak Grove Preschool and its exceptional staff of dedicated teaching professionals! My 5-year old daughter and 4-year old son have enjoyed their time at Oak Grove Preschool over the last two years immensely. They can't stop talking about the fun activities, the cool things they have learned, and the friends they have made at this truly awesome school. As an active duty Navy family, I was truly blessed to be able to participate in most every event my kids have been involved in at the preschool over the past two years. The entire experience has been overwhelmingly positive and an answer to our prayers! I have interacted with 4 different sets of teachers at the preschool and I have never felt better about a learning environment than the ones these teachers have created at this brilliant school! Although we do not attend the church at Oak Grove, the teachers, staff, and fellow parents of the preschool feel like our second family and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We highly recommend Oak Grove Preschool to all of our friends and acquaintances with preschool age children!

My granddaughter has been attending Oak Grove Preschool since she was 2 1/2 years old. OG Preschool has been such a wonderful experience for her, her parents and the grandparents that we decided to enroll her this Fall (2013) in the school's first Kindergarten class rather than use the public school system. Each year she has received instruction in academic and social skills in this superior preschool, while enjoying the benefits of a loving and professional staff (individual teachers, assistants, the Director Maryann, and Miss Jane, the music teacher). The children are encouraged to enjoy preschool while learning and developing relationships. The Christmas and graduation programs are outstanding along with other activities for the family during the school year. It says a lot about a school when some of these children have been together since 2 1/2. When a child asks to call their teacher and classroom assistant over the summer to talk, then you know they are thrilled about OG Preschool and its staff. A priceless bond has been nurtured. Thank you for investing so much in my granddaughter.

My son started going this year, he was there for two weeks and they saw my son had two tiny warts on his hand (one on his finger and one on his thumb). Mary Ann called me up and told me she had concerns. When I went to pick up my son after preschool, I talked to her about it. She told me he needed to go to the dr. to get a note to say that warts are not contagious. I said they are warts I really need a note for common warts. She said other parents had concerns? I later asked her why were other parents looking at my son's hands? She told me when a parent came back in to say good bye to their child they saw my son's warts. I showed her the warts, to let her see that other parents would had to be extremely close to my son to see them. Then she said "well you know the teachers are parents!!!" So I took my son to the dr. got a note, The dr. did say that they are contagious but in his note he wrote that it would be really dumb on her part to keep a child from education. My doc even called the health department and they said you can't keep a child out of school for warts. Unlike Mary ann, she said she talked to someone from the state department and they said you can. I wasnt their when my husband gave her the note so I called her as soon as i found out that she said my son could no longer attend oak grove. I called her and i was not happy so i did have attitude. She told me my son could not attend because warts are an infectious disease. Funny thing is my husband went down there to talk to them, the other director was there this time, and of course they had mary ann's back not knowing this woman lies and has know idea what she is talking about. My husband chatted with them, and getting no where. My husband left and as soon as he got home, he got a phone call from the other director saying that my son is allowed to come back to the pre school. I am assuming the other director did her research and actually spoke to someone f the health department (unlike mary ann). Of course we said we would rather part ties. Why would I let my child go back to this school!!!!! As long as mary ann is a director at this school I would not reccomend Oak Grove Preschool.

Placing our 2 year old twins in a preschool program was a bit scary for me, especially in a new community. Maryann and her staff couldn't have made us feel more welcome and safe. The girls are in their second year at the school and asked to go five days a week. We love it! The programming is fun and will prepare the girls for Kindergarten. The entire preschool staff takes an active interest in getting to know you and your child. There are many fun events throughout the year like Trunk or Treat, the Harvest Festival, Consignment Sale and Breakfast with Santa. The attached Church is an added benefit and very welcoming, we are not even Methodist and everyone always made us feel welcome. I can't say enough good things about this school!

As a parent with a degree in Early Childhood Education, I carefully considered several programs while searching for the "right" place for my child. I definitely found it in Oak Grove Preschool! The director and teachers are warm and caring and it is easy to see that they feel called to work with young children. Safety was one of my big concerns and I have no fears about my child's safety while he is at school. The school itself is extremely secure and the safe sanctuary policy which requires 2 teachers in every class regardless of class size, puts my mind at ease. This also means a low student:teacher ratio and the school keeps the class sizes small.
The program is developmentally appropriate and my son is leaning while having fun in a nurturing setting. He comes home every day with new facts he has learned and I get a report from his teacher about the day's activities which facilitates a strong home-school connection. He throughly enjoys school days and my younger son can't wait to start next year!

Every parent knows the fears related to sending their little one off to daycare or school for the very first time. Even though I had visited Oak Grove Preschool and was very pleased with everything I had seen, I still had those age old fears. One month later, I am happy to report that my painfully shy 2 year old is as happy as a lark. Her teachers have created a loving and warm environment that allows her to be herself and gain those necessary social skills. Not only do I hear a daily report from my child, but I get an up-to-date monthly calendar of all the events and curriculum ideas planned for my child. They even offer a lunch bunch if you need an extra child-free hour. There are also dance classes that are offered right after school! Jane, the head of the children's programming at Oak Grove UMC and Maryann the preschool director have fostered such a wonderful and loving learning environment. The children experience chapel and music classes on top of their own classroom's daily routines and curriculum. My interactions with all of the adults and teachers involved with this program have been nothing less than positive. There are not enough words to express my happiness at finding this particular program!
