I guess I'm not in love with this place as in wow I can't wait to go there, but it seems be a good option for lunches at work bec the cafe we have in our building is modelled after the kitcen at Rikers Island so I look for other options for hot lunch.

I've only sampled 2 dishes so far and I do have to drag it back to work and I guess it does cool down a bit taking away some enjoyment of a hot lunch and I don't feel like putting it on plate to microwave it. Be nice if they had way to keep it hotter while they wait for me to get there. I mean the soup was hot, but the chicken so so, but did have warmer noodles underneath. I was pleasantly surprised by the noodles soaked in the teriyaki sauce under the marinated chicken. The chicken was good quality cut into bite size ready to eat pieces, which nice for eating at your desk at work.

The gyoza was deep fried and I don't know if there was a steamed option, I tend opt for healthier cooking methods, but it tasted fine and had dipping sauce. The sushi was ok, it was just california roll so I really couldn't say how their raw fish sushi is. Their ginger seemed very fresh, was ginger root colored and not pink, not sure if that why it seemed extra fresh and extra pungent..

The salad had traditional Japanese dressing, which I like and seems usually taste the same no matter where I get it. As usual, salad was mostly iceberg lettuce which lacks nutritonal value, but I do like taking a break from real salads just to eat crispy lettuce with yummy dressing. Plus I was pleasantly surprised by the cooked veggies of broccoli, carrots and chinese corn so that helped make up for the mostly nutrionally void salad. It came with choice of brown or white rice, but with the noodles I didn't really even need the rice.

All I can say is, I've tried some other Chinese take outs for lunch around where I work and the food from those places made me want to vomit so I'm just relieved that this food is very edible. The bento lunch box seemed bigger than other Japanese places, price seemed avg, but I think I paid even $1 more to get one from a much closer place to my work that gave me less food that wasn't half as good as this.

The other dish I tried once was pad thai vegetarian and it was good enough for me to take chance on the Japanese chicken. When I don't know a place, I will often start out with something vegetarian and if they can't make tofu taste ok, then I never come back for chicken. That's just me. I wouldn't mind if they offered a cheaper version of the bento lunch box where you could choose to skip the sushi or the soup or something to make it more affordable for a work day lunch. But with the portion being larger than other places, I was able to save some for later. Maybe soon I will try one of the Chinese chicken lunch specials.

Great tasty food at good prices! I really like to recommend Lover Rolls if you love tuna! I also like Sunshine rolls, miso black cod, etc... I can't wait to go back to try other unique selections of their signature rolls...
