Wonderful Middle Eastern food -- one of the best in the LA area. Better to go here for lunch -- its quiet and you'll get better service. If you don't like crowds, avoid Fri and Sat evenings -- That's when they have their live entertainment shows. (amazing belly dancers, btw.)
It's fun to order family style and share. Excellent lulu kebab, cheese boureg, etc..
If you've never had Armenian coffee, (and you like espresso), try it here.

People often ask me what my favorite restaurant is, or my favorite meal, and that's always hard to answer. To me, eating is all about the energy - who you're dining with, how the staff treats you, the strangers in the restaurant, and how you feel during and after consuming the food.

My experience at Carousel hit all the marks - the energy was great, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the food was outstanding. While I won't call this my favorite restaurant, this was definitely one of the best meals I've had in L.A., and I've been raving about it ever since I left.

Coincidentally, that very day the owner (Mike) of the restaurant was working on the vegan menu, so he brought us out a ton of food to try. While the lentils were my favorite, everything was very fresh and flavorful. The falafel was the best I've ever had - crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The Mousaaka (eggplant) was also fantastic. It was extremely authentic Middle Eastern food.

My feast included:
Hammos
Tabbuleh
Mutabbal (Baba Rannuj)
Sarma (grape leaves)
Lentil soup
Falafel
Mousaaka (eggplant)
Kebbeh Aadas (red lentils)

Carousel has been a place Ive enjoyed for years. with friends, family, special events, anytime you go it hits the spot. Try a little Sambooka with the mezza platters then move onto some cravings for kabob and more kabob! Dont think it's over... come 10pm the show begins.. Belly dancing and Salsa dancing shows then live music by some of the most well known Arabic and Armenian singers! It will make you feel like youve left Los Angeles and traveled to far lands.. but mostly it will make you smile, feel satisfied and so happy!

I have not been to this restaurant in 10 years since I moved out of state. I am coming down in December and this is my first stop! I remember how wonderful it was and I crave their food. The Fatayers (Cheese Boregs) are to die for. Love their kabobs especially their Lula. Love taking the pita bread, spreading their absolutely addicting Garlic sauce on it, putting rice on and then the meat from the Kabob and make a sort of Gyro out of it.. I can't wait..I am so drooling right now.

We went here with a group of friends and had a really good time. As we are not all middle easterns, we all enjoyed the food. We did the full menu and price was great. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and Service. I really enjoy the food here and you could taste that it is fresh made to order. This place has delicious middle eastern food and they do have great variety. Great Muhammara just perfect with pita bread, Fatayer (cheese boreg) yummmmyyy and Soujuk (sausage) was so good. Highly recommended you must try it.

One of my two favorite things on the menu are the lamb chops and lentil soup. I seems like everytime I go to Carousel for dinner they are out of those two items. They should be taken off the menu if they only sometimes have them.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I brought my family in on Sat. this past weekend for the set dinner and show. My son had a school pesentation to do for his school on other cultures. It was our first time and most likely our last. The food and service was not bad, although the place was so over crowded! You could not get up and move from your table, and it was so hot my wife and I could not even enjoy our dinner . We left before the belly dancers began. We were very disapointed for the money we spent. No parking, overcrowded , and extremely hot.

My family has been getting food from Carousel for years (for birthdays, anniversaries, etc..), and we have even dined in on occasion. The atmosphere is quite nice, with Lebanese artifacts all about the interior, nicely lit (not too bright nor dark), and seating is adequate. The food is remarkably good, and it sticks to its Mediterranean roots. The dishes are original in ingredients used and presentation. My only complaint about Carousel? the price and quantity of food. Over the years, it has gotten more and more expensive, and you receive less food than you would have received a couple of years ago.

I went to Carousel for the first time Friday night for a birthday dinner with a few friends. As a vegan it can be a challenge to find a restaurant that everyone can enjoy. When I saw that they had muhammara on their menu I was sold. We were all impressed with the decor and attentive service when we arrived and our table was soon groaning with fabulous appetizers, including creamy hammos and tabbuleh. The muhammara was by far our favorite, though. It was perfectly rich yet spreadable and full of layered flavors with a bit of a spicy kick. I could have just eaten the appetizers and have been satisfied, but out came the light and crispy falafel with sesame seeds and a special vegan mousakka just for me. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their succulent meat kebabs, especially the juicy chicken. Our waiter was excellent and timed our dinner out perfectly so we could get up and dance with the band. And the belly dancers that followed were amazing! A very sensual experience. To top of our wonderful evening, my birthday cake was brought out with a huge sparkler in it and our left-overs expertly boxed up and made into little "meals" for us to enjoy the next day. One of the best birthday dinners ever. I will definitely be back.

I'm coming at this place evry week to have a dinner since 2007 and this is really good.
The service is friendly, fast and polite, the food is excellent and the price is honest.

Just thanks a lot and please don't change anything.

I order takeout from Carousel pretty often, and each time they make me feel awkward about it... like I'm not ordering the whole menu, so I'm not so important. This last time, I decided I would never give them my business again. I placed my order, and when I went to pick it up they said they couldn't take my card b/c my bill was under $20. So, shouldn't someone have told me this before I got there... and then would have to go to the atm and pick up my cold food??? They've lost a loyal customer. Totally lame.
On the other hand, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Hollywood location. They have none of the attitude, and bend over backwards to accommodate their clientele!

I ordered the Filet Kabob, which is described as grilled filet mignon served with rice, mutabal, and some other sides. It was gristly and tough, and inedible.

The food and atmosphere are great here. Lebanese food is a healthy alternative to the daily diet of most Americans. It is also a very social food since the "Mezza" consists of an endless set of appetizers from various ingredients. Eat your heart out then order the Barbeque meet and chicken. Ask for ARAK, an Ouzo-like Lebanese liquor and it is perfect with "kebbe Nayye".

What a place! I love the smell, the look and the overall feel of this place. On the weekends they have live music, dancing and belly-dancers. The downfall to the weekend is the crowds and the pre-set menu.
If you don't go during show nights, it is a calm, interesting and nice place to just sit and dine.
Service is great, very attentive. Food is fabulous. I suggest getting one of the 3 feast option dinners to sample many of their exquisite menu items including several mezzas (appetizers), 3 kebabs, sausage meats and salads. It's a can't miss!

Here's a tip for ordering---you can create a dazzling meal out of Carousel's appetizer list alone! it's a great way to sample their different dishes and it's especially fun if you have a small crowd. Just pass around the dishes and you'll get to try a bit of everything! Service was prompt and friendly---we went on a Thursday so weekends might be a bit tougher to get a table etc.

Although the food is great, you will wait for hours before they sit you so RSVP before you go and if they tell you to just come in, make them RSVP you anyway. On a Friday or Saturday night, it's more difficult to get a table than to solve a third world country's economic problems.

Carousel serves Lebanese food with other Middle Eastern selections. Not Armenian food. This is often confused because Armenians fled to other countries during the Armenian genocide. Many immigrated to the Middle East and lived there for generations. However, the food still belongs to the native Middle Eastern culture. Carousel is b far one of the best Lebanese restaurants I've ever been to. A must for Middle East food fans!!!!

The food is so good with good sized portions. Definitely try this place out...the ambience is a little kitschy, but the food alone is worth it. This place is definitely on my personal top 10 list of favorites.

This is a fun restaurant, although be sure you know that it's not open on Monday nights. It serves Cuban or Armenian food. The kabob (lamb, chicken, beef, etc.) is excellent. The appetizers are very yummy and authentic as well. I recommend the stuffed olive leaves and beef kabob. The food is definitely worth the money and is well-priced. I usually have enough to take home leftovers. On Saturday nights, Carousel has some kind of entertainment, so just be sure to call for reservations or information in advance.

We had a group of four early on a Sat. night, so I called first and was told to just come on in. We were then told that we had to be finished by 8pm, which fortunately wasn't a problem for us. We all ordered combinations and we were amazed at the amount and the variety. We all liked nearly everything, except for the 6 year old who was very picky, but liked what he was willing to try. The space is a tad ballroom like because of the floorshow, but you can try to get a booth or sit outdoors. Service was okay, but then we were near a main artery and could reach out and grab someone when necessary. We will be back, and perhaps stay for the show.

This was definitely a vacation of a few hours. Our vist to this palatial bash dining room was a totally excellent and complete culinary experience. You owe it to yourself to get addicted (I did). My next visit will be on a Friday night; I heard they become a very classy, yet happening and hip Supper Club on the weekends after 9pm.

The take-out menu is a bit different than the sit-down menu, which doesn't include my favorite dish, the chicken kabab sandwich. It's more like a gyro than a sandwich w/ an insane garlic sauce I can't get enough of. I've only eaten at the restaurant once and the service was admittedly less than adequate, but the take-out service is very dependable and the menu is even better anyway in my opinion. It's good diet food too, minus the garlic sauce unfortunately.
