I wish I loved this place but I don't. I love the concept -- unpretentious and affordable classes. Donation based yoga that is BART/public transportation accessible is wonderful! The classes are very crowded, over heated, noisy etc. Within minutes of starting, you are sweating profusely, to the point that half through the class, even with a towel, your mat is so slipper you can no longer hold a pose. The class goes quickly. These aspects do not bother me that much. What is irksome, especially if you are a beginner, is the lack of precise instruction on how your body should be in each position. Without it, you can hurt yourself. Sure, you can watch others but who knows if they are doing the position correctly. I went six times before I switched to Berkeley Yoga where you can purchase 8 classes for $100 (with 1 instructor) or 12 classes for $154 (with any instructor). These classes end up being around $12.50/ class. The classes are 90 minutes (YTTP classes are 60 minute) and the times I've been there have been fewer than 5 students per class so you get lots of attention! Attending this studio made me realize that I was doing some of the positions incorrectly at YTTP.
