I am re-posting my original yelp review from Monday September 15th because Dr. Rod had it removed (probably not the first time).

Everything is my post is factual and readers have the right to know. I feel strongly that the fact Dr. Rod only allows five star reviews which is quite telling of his character. We'll see how long it take for this to get removed again but here goes...

I am so sorry to report my experience was completely odd, confusing, and uncomfortable. After months of researching Pacific Lipo, reading some pretty great reviews, watching videos, seeing the pictures, and sharing my excitement with friends, I am left feeling completely let down. I feel conflicted even writing this review. I have only ever written positive reviews, but hopefully it will save someone else a lot of time and disappointment.

The consultation started and I was told by Rod how flat my stomach could be and that I was a great candidate for arm lipo. It was all pretty normal until I asked a question about recovery time, the numbing process, and going back to work. This is where everything changed. Rod said he believed I would be more comfortable with another doctor. I was really confused so I asked him to clarify if he was suggesting I go with someone else (because I asked about pain and the procedure??) and he confirmed yes. He ended to conversation abruptly and ended up opening the door and holding it open for me to exit before I had a chance to button the top of my jeans! I guess don't inquire about pain or process if you are at all interested in Pacific Lipo. I felt rushed out but was still wrapping my head around what just happened. On the way out Jasmine the receptionist reviewed my chart and again told me I could not receive treatment from Pacific Lipo. The whole process was about 10 minutes from his arrival to leaving the office. I would have liked to make that decision my own and maybe have been asked what my tolerance for pain is, but honestly I would not trust my body to anyone who has poor bedside manner or who is uncomfortable with an inquisitive patient. Again, I am truly sorry to not have good news to report! The whole thing was awkward, uncomfortable, and rushed.

Business Response:

9/20/2014 We politely refused service to this person earlier this week. Despite my explanation to her as to why I would not perform her procedure, she became very upset with me - which still appears to be the case several days later. This is Meli C's 3rd attempt under 2 different Yelp profiles to write a negative review about our office this week. Yelp filtered her original review under the name "Melissa", she updated it, and then it was completely removed for violating Yelp's content guidelines. Now she has created a new profile under Meli C. My original response is below for those who are interested in hearing both sides. And finally, she has referred to me as "Dr Rod" in her review but I'm a certified Physician Assistant (PA), not a doctor. Please see my credentials listed in our Yelp business profile, on our website, and on my uniforms : ) Photos of my work, along with several videos of me performing procedures can be viewed on our website at pacificlipo.com. Original response below: "I'm sorry to hear that Melissa did not receive me well but I recall our interaction a bit differently. Melissa seemed somewhat uncomfortable with me as soon as we started to discuss her main area of concern but that's pretty common on a 1st meeting. She lifted the bottom half of her shirt, unfastened the top button to her jeans, and showed me the area that she wanted sculpted. After a discussion on how I would approach the re-shaping of that area (where incisions would be made, what tools are used for the numbing, how long the procedure would take, the post-operative garment style, recovery, etc), she made it clear that she was very concerned about pain - which is perfectly normal. We get those questions all of the time. She said that she watched videos of me performing the procedure on others. She then asked "so the procedure is not painful...right?" She said that she does not do well with pain. I explained to her that some patients have described the numbing phase of the procedure as painful. However, nearly every patient is still able to carry on a conversation during this phase and find the sculpting process quite comfortable and massage-like (as shown in the videos on our website). Melissa still seemed very concerned and had a look of distrust on her face. I then began to explain why our form of anesthesia (local) may not be right for her. I recommended that she go on more consultations with other offices that offer IV sedation or general anesthesia. Those methods of anesthesia, although more expensive and carry more risks, tend to keep patients from feeling anything at all. She seemed to understand my concern but still looked surprised and a little disappointed. She asked if I was unwilling to do her procedure. I did my best to make it clear that she's a good candidate for lipo but I unfortunately do not offer the heavier forms of anesthesia that she may require. She then asked a couple of questions about a different body part that she was interested in. I briefly explained that area to her as well. After saying our goodbyes, it looked like she was fully dressed and walking out of the room with me so I stopped to hold open the door for her (as I do for all clients). She seemed somewhat offended by this and reminded me that she still had an unfastened button under her shirt. I apologized as I had forgotten about that and was unable to see the top button of her jeans through her shirt. I said goodbye again and closed the door so that she would have the privacy that she needed to fasten the button. It seems that Melissa has taken my recommendation to seek out other options personally. I certainly meant no offense. These moments can sometimes be perceived as awkward and uncomfortable for both parties. I was simply trying to be as honest and informative as I could be, even though I knew within the first few moments of meeting her that our office may not be the best fit for her." -Rod, PA-Certified Read less

OK. everyone... here is how my procedure went yesterday :) It kind of long but you will know what to expect if you have your procedure done by Pacific Lipo :)
I am THE FREE LIPO CONTEST WINNER for September. When I arrived, I was surprised with flowers and a balloon bouquet. I was escorted to a nice room and my vital signs were taken. They made sure I was very comfortable and even gave me cold water to drink. I changed into my robe, my little slippers and blue surgery hat. Next, Rod Davis came in and asked me if I had any questions before we began the procedure. He had a very calming demeanor and I felt comfortable instantly. He asked me what my areas of concern were and told me that I did have a lot of loose skin on my belly from having 3 kids. He promised he would do his very best but not to expect the skin to completely tighten. I really liked his honesty. Next I was marked with a marker and escorted to the operating room. The surgical bed was heated and felt nice. Letty, the medical assistant, gave me stress ball to squeeze on if needed for extra comfort :) Rod Davis came in the room and gave me the local injections before making his tiny incisions. I am not kidding everyone, I did not feel that part. He was super caring and gentle. After the incisions were made, Rod explained that he would inject the tumescent fluid to make me numb. That part was a bit pokey but not nearly as bad as I expected. Once I was all numb and comfortable, he explained he would suction the fat out and if I felt any discomfort, to let him know right away so he could give me more yummy lidocaine :) I did feel some pinching a few times so I was given more medicine. Rod really cared about my comfort and he even talked to me the entire time. The suctioning felt like a massage and I was even ticklish in a few spots :) I had my entire abdomen and loves handles done and the entire procedure took just a few hours. I remember actually falling asleep at one point :) When I was all done, I was wrapped up tight and a compression garment was put on . The garment is very tight but I am sure that is a good thing. I was brought into another room and given a snack and apple juice. They made sure I was OK to drive home and even offered to let me stay as long as I needed to. These people were wonderful because it was past the time for them to leave for the day and all they cared about was my comfort and safety. I live 2.5 hours away and was able to drive myself home. It is now the next day and so far, Rod has called me twice to check on me.....very thoughtful. I am very sore and draining a lot of fluid. I was given pain medicine, antibiotics and a little care bag with post-op instructions as well. I am so very pleased with my liposuction experience. If you are thinking about having liposuction done and live near San Diego, CA, I would recommend Pacific Lipo :) Did I mention that Rod Davis is a perfectionist??? He went over the same areas several times to be sure everything was even. I lost 4 Liters of belly fat yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!

This week I had the lipo procedure done at Pacific Lipo on my inner thighs and I am SO EXCITED! My inner thighs have always bothered me because they rub together. It has only been 2 days and the rubbing is GONE! I've been working out really hard lately and even ran my first half marathon a couple months ago. Now I feel much more confident doing these activities knowing that the bulge on my inner thighs is gone. I am so grateful for the team at Pacific Lipo that helped me and ready to get my first swim suit!

--> Now It has been one month since my procedure with Pacific Lipo and I love my new legs. I just love them. There is no rubbing between my thighs. I look at my legs now and I feel good, I really do. I feel good. I put on some jeans yesterday and there was NO bulk any more. They were skinny jeans and I felt sexy.

Thank you to Rod... there are no words for how grateful I am. =)

More about Pacific Lipo

At Pacific Liposculpture, we understand that many of us, no matter how much we diet and work out, are still unable to change our shape. In the past, many have turned to traditional liposuction or extremely invasive procedures like an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) in order to reshape different problem areas. Now there's a better, safer, scar-free way at Pacific Liposculpture.

Wait, you're the expert.
