I was very pleased with my experience with Catalyst! I rented a studio apartment from them for nearly three years, and never had any problems besides the occasional minor household repair - any service request I put in was usually fulfilled within a couple of days, and usually on the exact date and time I requested. They have great rentals, reasonable rates, and are very student and pet friendly! I was so happy to have found a great place to live so close to the university campus that would also allow pets. You can pay rent and any other fees online, which I found to be very convenient. Management (and Mark in particular) is great to work with and willing to help with anything you need! They were very clear about their move-in and move-out policies, procedures, and expectations, so there were no surprises throughout my tenancy or when it came time for me to leave. I would definitely rent from Catalyst again! Thanks!

To start off, I rented a house from Catalyst last June, and lived there a year, and let me say that this was one of the worst decisions of my life. The property we lived at was gorgeous and convenient, it was across the street from a bus stop, a park, and tennis courts but dealing with Catalyst was not worth the convenience. I have never dealt with a worst company.

They said they would help us move furniture upstairs (since the house has a spiral staircase), and it involved hoisting things up to the balcony and moving them into the rooms upstairs. The two people who were sent to help had zero respect for anything, and scraped and even broke some of the furniture because of their careless attitude. We originally asked if they had a winch that could send our stuff up, and they told us something like that, but in reality it was just two guys.

When we first moved in, they told us that the keys they were giving us did not work with the front door, and they would get it taken care of in the next few days. We called for several weeks, but it was not until _three months_ later that we were able to finally lock our front door. We had to live with either the front door unlocked the entire time, or have someone home. When we asked why it took so long, they rudely responded There are other people in the area with more important problems. It was by far the most unprofessional thing I ve ever heard.

In addition to waiting for three months for the locks to be changed, we also had to wait for them to remove the old washer/dryer from the house (which was a nuisance and made it hard to park), as well as trash from the previous tenants in the side patio area (which included a long piece of tile, with rotting wood that spiders nested into), a lawn mower that didn t work, and a large piece of rotting plywood. They eventually took the old washer and dryer. The trash on the side area was still there as of our move-out date.

The absolutely worst problem I had with Catalyst was how they treated the wasp problem. Upon moving in, I asked one of the maintenance men if wasps were a huge problem, because I was very allergic to them. He told me they weren t so bad, but could take care of the problem while I was there. He went to his truck and started spraying them, while I was next to him, making them mad instead of actually killing them. As fall progressed, more and more wasps started swarming the house, and eventually they started getting into my bedroom. Every morning I would wake up with two of three wasps flying around

It took them six months of me emailing them, putting in work orders, and calling them to finally come down and check it out. I figured out that the wasps were coming in from the holes in the chimney in my room, but they didn t listen to me. Their response was to set off a bug bomb in my house, when I wasn t home, and never told me about it. I walked into my room one day after school and was blasted with a face full of poison that caused me extreme nausea and a headache the rest of the day. When we called to complain about it, they evidently left a voice mail, but the voicemail just said that they were going to finally hire a professional exterminator, again with no date or time.

Catalyst did not send us our move-out check list until the day before we moved out. We had cleaned the house as best as we could, but had no idea we had to hire _professional carpet cleaners_, and clean specific areas. Despite the fact the said they would take care of us, and they could get a great deal to clean the carpets, their idea of a deal was $158, to clean three bedrooms (one of the bedrooms was tiny), and a living room. In addition, we got slapped with $228 cleaning fee (separate from the carpet cleaning fee), despite the fact we cleaned the house.

Overall, Catalyst claims to care about their tenants, but is really only out for themselves. Please be warned and cautious if you rent with them
