I've always been a "do-it-myself" type of person, especially when it comes to working out since trying an unfamiliar workout among a group of people makes me self-conscious about whether I'm fit and coordinated enough to do the moves.

Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp, however, is great. This is a group class that I enjoy doing and don't feel insecure during. I've done the weekend morning classes on the bridge. The instructors are encouraging, provide directions on proper form, and push you to keep going. The class works legs, arms, and core, but emphasis is on legs with many reps and sets of various squats and lunges with and without resistance bands. Overall, you get a full-body workout that involves cardio and strength exercises, using resistance bands, your own body weight, and interval exercises at stopping points as you run across the bridge and back.

The bridge isn't crowded with tourists until closer to 10 a.m., so dodging tourists and having space for the exercises isn't much of a problem during the 9 a.m. class. The more annoying aspect is when they take photos of those of us working out. What, they don't have exercise where they come from? But during the boot camp, I'm too focused on making it through another set of jump squats to notice the tourists much.

I have taken the class in Central Park a couple of times now and I'm confident in saying this class is terrific! I consider myself in good shape and it's hard to find a class that is challenging enough. This class definitely is and it's fun too.

It's a great combination of cardio and strength training. The group runs to different areas of the park where we then do different strength training exercises. There's a variety of athletic levels but you can tell that everyone is getting a great workout. The teachers are great - they push you but are very encouraging. If you're looking for a great workout in a beautiful setting, I would definitely recommend giving this a try!

I went from hardly being able to run for a solid minute to running the length of the Brooklyn Bridge non-stop. I can also now do 100 jumping jacks at 6:30am without fainting--this would have been beyond uncharacteristic pre-Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp.

Ariane is encouraging and welcoming. If you have 5lbs or 50lbs to loose Ariane is your girl! Take her class--you won't be sorry and if you stick with it, you'll end up being in the best shape of your life!

The instructors are true professionals and they know how to motivate you and get you in the best shape possible no matter what level of fitness you are in. I tried BBB at the end of last summer and I wished I had heard about it earlier. I had such a great time! The class was fun, encouraging, the views amazing and at the end I had the feeling I could take on the world. I am what some people call a "gym rat" and as such I was skeptical about the intensity (since I have been disapointed by many other 'new workouts') I was pleasantly surprised! The class was tough but manageable for different fittness because Ariane encourages pushing to your own limit. I think every Newyorker (and visitor) ought to try at least one class!

Furthermore, not only did I gain knowledge of new exercises and how to implement the workouts at home, but also learned the importance of nutrition (yes we are all aware that eating right and clean is important, yet Ariane's breakdown of clean eating in a no-nonesense way made me actually want to follow through for a change!!)
I absolutely plan on taking more classes to lose those final 10 lbs and 5 more inches off my waist ( my personal goal) and I'm actually looking forward to pushing myself to my limit to get the most of each butt-kicking hour spent with Ariane!! Its a great workout if you're an athlete or a beginner like me. Its no joke... Its hard but worth it!! I feel sooo much better having completed 2 month sessions. Still have to keep going to get to my ultimate goal but this is the place to start.

I have taken part in her outdoor Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp classes for awhile now. Ariane finds ways to keep the classes fresh with different exercises that target specific muscles. She has a way of pushing you well beyond what you would do on your own, but the charm is that her energy is always positive and encouraging, rather than merely tough. It doesn't bother me to be one of the only guys in the class. Everyone is equal there and working to look their best. More guys are coming now though. One thing I've taken to heart is that Ariane claims that at least 70% of losing weight and replacing it with muscle is related to your nutrition, and she provides materials to help you meet that end of the equation, which is essential as you get older and your metabolism slows.

I have taken part in her outdoor Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp classes for awhile now. Ariane finds ways to keep the classes fresh with different exercises that target specific muscles. Mind you, i was never a fitness junkie nor an advanced exercise fanatic! I was a regular chubby Mediterranean girl trying to adopt a healthier life style and trying to lose weight! But Ariane got me hooked to boot camp!

I first signed up for the outdoor classes at Central Park, on a lovely Saturday morning. You start with a ??light? warm up that includes among others, jumping jacks and pushups. Then you start running towards the Bethesda fountain through the mall and stop along the way to do drills like lunges, squats and resistance training using the resistance bands she provides.

The next Saturday morning I tried the Brooklyn Bridge workout, which I think is a bit harder, since the Brooklyn Bridge is apparently on an incline (who knew??). You start by a ??light? warm up and then you run on the bridge stopping at every tower for the usual drills, together with the tourists that love taking pictures of our moaning and groaning! I am loving the outdoor classes! They are fun, energizing and definitely a nice addition to the usual indoor gym routine that most of us are used to. Ariane and the rest of her crew do a great job motivating you and making sure, you push as hard as you can!

I have also taken the Slim and Strong classes that are offered. These are a month long indoor program that includes high intensity cardio and resistance training with free weights and resistance bands and a nutrition work shop. These are great especially if you are trying to lose weight - I lost 10lbs and 2% fat the first time I took it and continue losing more every month. Ariane, who also has a degree in nutrition, develops a personal plan for you to help you understand what foods help you burn fat, keep you full for longer and help your weight loss or other fitness goals! You also get before and after pictures, weight, fat and body measurements. It is really interesting to see how your body changes in just four weeks!

Since I started doing the boot camp classes, I have seen an immense change in my body. My endurance has increased, my muscles are more defined, I lost weight and most importantly developed a never ending passion for fitness and nutrition! I recommend it to anyone who wants to adopt a healthier lifestyle or just wants an exciting addition to their work out routine!

Ariane is a fantastic trainer and is really inspiring. She reminds you how much of your endurance is mental - and that you are stronger than you think you are. She encourages you to go beyond your comfort zone and makes you push yourself. I have been exercising on and off for years, and I feel like these classes have allowed me to tap into strength I didn't know that I had!

It is also really easy to sign up for classes online - no gym membership required!

One more thing....it is the NICEST group of people to work out with. Everyone is smiling while they struggle, cracking jokes and has fun together. There is no competitive attitude going on, which is a real bonus.

Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp is a unique and superb exercise program. Run by Ariane Hundt, a vivacious, inspiring, 30-something fitness buff, she leads by example. The hour-long workout on the Bridge is a rigorous combination of aerobic and resistance work that is impossibly difficult at first but with regular attendance, magically becomes easier and eventually is actually doable.

Her indoor Slim & Strong classes are similarly incredible fun and very intense (she advises bringing a towel to class - for that puddle that inevitably forms during the workout!). Additionally, there are added features - before and after photos, regular measurement of weight, body fat and waist, hip, thigh, etc. circumferences and Nutrition classes. She really gets to know her clients and their issues and in a lighthearted, fun way, she commands adherence and GETS RESULTS. And, so uncommon in the fitness world, she REALLY cares about her clients and their progress.

While her focus is on nutrition and resistance/aerobic exercise, she deeply understands the mind-body connection and how we stress-crazed New Yorkers sabotage our health with sedentary lifestyles and mindless eating.

Her classes motivate change and reinforce positive health, nutrition and fitness behavior until these changes become habitual. I can't recommend her highly enough!
