B&M Iron Works didn't return as promised to make adjustments.

It really knocked me for a loop to read B&M Iron Works' answer to a question on another website where they were the "featured merchant". The question was: "What mistakes do you see your competition make over and over again? Their answer was: "They don't try to keep the clients happy, and when things seem to go wrong, they hide from the clients instead of walking hand-in-hand with the clients." This statement was so audacious and so ironic because B&M Iron Works never made promised fixes, after being paid, by both me and my neighbor!

Immediately after having quite a lot of ironwork done by them on my home, I pointed out 3 defects in workmanship that they promised they would come back to do. I left several messages for them over a period of months, and each time, there was a different excuse as to why they couldn't come to fix what they said they would. After referring them to 2 of my neighbors for thousands of dollars worth of more work, I saw them directly across the street one day, performing new (paid) work, and Brau looked me right in the face and tried to hide, but he couldn't hide his truck! So, I called again, and no one picked up, so I left a voicemail stating that if they could come out for new work, why not fix the work they did for me the same day? I never received a return phone call from them since then, and it's been almost 3 years. Of note, my neighbor had the same problem after they messed up her PVC fence by putting all the posts that need cement one after another in the front of the house, instead of every other post like it was supposed to be. They promised her to come back to re-do it, but they made excuses (just like they did to me) for so long that my neighbor couldn't wait anymore had to re-do it at her own expense. Of course, this is definite "no recommendation" review! However, if you feel compelled to use their services, make sure they accept credit cards for the full payment so you have leverage to stop payment if they don't fix what they say they will in the first few weeks. However, this is not a cure-all, because the guarantee is 6 months for labor and one-year for parts. So good luck to you if they made a door frame too short so that wasps can come in your home from the top of the door with a big gap in it, or the entire bottom of the doorframe doesn't even touch the bottom step, leaving a huge gap that even a cat can walk through (so what good is a screen door if you have 3 and 4 inch gaps all over it? I will never again pay for anything in cash if the business doesn't take credit cards, which they told me they didn't (but I bet they would if they thought you wouldn't hire them otherwise). Have a blessed day!
