It was a great location for both stadium and Bourbon Street. We were close enough to walk to everything, but yet away enough for quiet nights. I will definately stay there again on my next trip to New Orleans!

The location is just right for the Mardi Gras crowd, the store within the hotel is reasonable and the breakfast is good.

I am a salesman that travels at least 90% of the year, Upon my stay in New Orleans. I found a gem of a hotel named the O'Keefe Plaza Hotel. Upon talking to the staff and management I learned that the hotel was once a Sleep Inn Hotel. I have stayed in Sleep Inns before and have never got the great treatment that i received at this hotel. The General Manager Jay Vadhar was very friendly and assisted me personally with some requests that i had for parking arrangements for my trailer that contained all my products for work. He arranged security to look after my trailer over night, and didn't charge me anything additional. This type of personal treatment goes way beyond what any other hotel manager has done for me in over 18 years of sales. I will definetly stay at the O'Keefe Plaza again.

Stayed at the Okeefe Plaza Hotel during Jazz Fest and was pleasantly surprised. I had booked my room late, and didn't have many hotel options; luckily, I found this hotel! Both the lobby and the room were clean, none of the funky odors people have complained about (even in a smoking room, it didn't reek of ashtray). Service was great during check in/out and the one time I had to get my keys reprogrammed. The walk to the Quarter was a quick one and a safe one at night. Parking was a little expensive ($35/night since it was a special event), but I was informed of the parking fees when I made my reservation. Never checked out the free breakfast; it ended at 9am, and I was never up that early.

My husband and I traveled to NOLA for the super bowl parties on Bourbob st. Our choice of the O" keefe proved to be the perfect location. We were a three block walk to Bourbon St. Our room was comfortable and clean. The staff was very helpful, helping with directions and recommendations on restaurants. We will gladly stay at the O'Keefe on any return visit!

After reading the reviews, I was worried about staying here. I shouldn't have been. There were no bedbugs, the towels and bedding were clean, and the room was quite spacious compared to other New Orleans hotels. I go to NOLA frequently and, while I stay in the plush hotels occasionally, I'm never in my room much so I usually look for location and value. This had both. Although it's in the CBD and not the quarter, I was going for the game and it was very convenient to the Dome (and it still wasn't a long walk to Canal St.!)
....! It had a fridge & microwave (rare in NOLA hotels!) and a decent bed. I'd stay again...

the room smelled and looked clean; an iron, ironing board, and hairdryer were automatically available in the room; and the pillow was the best one I have ever laid my head on. The hallways were silent throughout our stay so we slept well. The shower looked recently remodeled, and was hot and powerful. And even if the front desk staff wasn't outgoing, they were prompt and reliable

The hotel was very near all activities and within walking distance to restaurants, streetcar, French Quarter and many more. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in giving directions and recommendations as to where to eat and how to get to certain locations. The rooms were nice and clean. The free parking was a major plus. There was free breakfast and plenty to go around. For the price, I highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed in O'Keefe Plaza Hotel from 03/16/11 to 03/19/11. This hotel is not overly expensive (though it's not cheap either), so one shouldn't expect outstanding service there. I certainly did not. However, below are the four main unexpected problems that I encountered while staying there.

(1) For the price I paid, my room was rather untidy, with dirty sheets, hardly working shower, and missing TV remote control. I let the front desk personnel know about this issue and was told that the problems would be solved, but nothing changed till the day I checked out.

(2) The room door key never worked, and the hotel staff expects guests to go to their rooms and confirm that they key is not working (yet again), and then go all the way back to the front desk for a new key ... every time. They don't even apologize; just issue a new key without saying a word.

(3) The hotel advertises that free Internet is provided in hotel's room. However, according to hotel's own staff, Internet simply did not work on the upper floors, as it never did on my lower first floor. So I had no Internet for three days, which was rather inconvenient.

Here is O'Keefe's Plaza Hotel's ad on Expedia from today (03/20/11), in which they claim their rooms include complimentary Internet: "Rooms: O Keefe Plaza Hotel's 129 air-conditioned guestrooms provide complimentary wireless Internet access and local calls." This ad, however, provides a rather untrue representation of hotel's services.

(4) Most of all, however, I was shocked when after staying in the hotel for just one day, I discovered that the cleaning crew literally cleaned my room by stealing my external computer hard drive with lots of personal and work-related data and a kit of expensive cosmetics. For the two days that I was still staying in the hotel, I tried to get a hold of the hotel's manager Mr. Vadhar and resolve this problem amicably, but he never made himself available for speaking with me. The front desk personnel also did not seem to be surprised or care about theft in the hotel, and I did not get an answer or an apology from anyone. Finally, on my departure day, I realized that no one was going to even talk to me my stolen property, and I had to file a police report.

If staying in a rather expensive for a dirty place like this, with no internet, hardly any hot water, and rude staff does not make you NOT want to stay there, at least do yourself a favor and do the following:
(1) leave anything even remotely valuable to you at home,
(2) pack the most unattractive old clothes,
(3) don't bring your computer (you won't be using internet anyways),
(4) don't forget to bring your own pillowcases, as the ones the hotel provides are dirty and stink, and
(5) try to not unpack while staying at the hotel so it's harder to steal from you.
