I am a 58 yr. old female who tried catfish twice in my adult years and did not like it. I did not like it, because I felt grains of sand or something in my mouth. In March 2012, I attended a Gold Medal Tribute Luncheon with many dignitaries. I decided to try the catfish, because it looked good. To my amazement -- the catfish was good! I did not feel grains of whatever in my mouth! The wings were smoked and tender. Also, the owner recognized there were people who needed to be served, and therefore had her staff serve them first. I felt that was very thoughtful. I was quite comfortable in the dinning room where we ate. The location is good, because it is not on the main street where the other restaurants are, therefore not as much traffic. I told the owner that I would be back with my husband. On a scale of 1-10, I rate Michon's an 8.

So....my husband and I went after seeing Michon's on Kitchen Nightmares 1/13/2011...

The Look - I give it a 3 out of 5 nice inside....surprising that it is across from a cemetery ( if that matters to you.) Great potential for family gatherings. Music was great! It made you want to sit back, chill and chat, The seats were not the most comfortable. I was told that there would be a live band and brunch on Sunday.
The bathroom -----YIKES!!!!! Go BEFORE YOU GET THERE>>>>YIKES YIKES YIKES!

The Service - I give it a 2 out of 5 ...they took a long time to stop and see if we wanted a drink or anything.

The Food - I give it a 4 out of 5 When the food came it was hot and juicy....so that microwaving thing they showed on Kitchen Nightmares was not in effect last night. I liked the homemade Honey BBQ sauce....the wings melted off the bone WITHOUT any sauce...and get this the black eyed peas had incredible seasoning... sweet potato souffle...nice and just the right sweet potato molasses flavor....cornbread sweet and very warm, I even bought home some turkey ribs for my mom and chicken wings for my mom in law...(we live in Marietta) I tasted my hubby mac and cheese....eh...it was o.k.....I can say they might want to work on the tea and lemonade though...a little bland.

Would I go back.....that is a firm yes. I would go check out rather the brunch on Sunday and the jazz is worth the journey. I hope they continue on the food path, its worth it. I really hope they step up the food service and please FIX THE BATHROOM.....!!!

My family and I visi/ted the restaurant tonight, 8/25/2011 and it was a horrible experience. Everything we ordered was out of stock, or unavailable, and the waiter was rather sarcastic. To make it worse, we ended up tipping him double, as he did not tell us that our tip was already included in our total. My macaroni was watery, as though it had been frozen and thawed, as the cheese looked like previously frozen cheese. It was a very horrible experience, as it was also very hot, and the wings that were purchased for my son were hot, and he is only 3 years old! Needless to say, he did not touch his food, and we will never return.

Me and a group of friends were in Atlanta last Sunday for a layover. We decided to go out to eat dinner, Michon's looked very promising. Obviously we should have read the reviews first. We were seated right away and had our drink orders taken. We arrived around 6:30 and didn't get our food until after 8pm. Three of us ordered brisket only to be told 20 minutes later that they would have to make some more brisket and it would take several hours. (actually, a brisket would take at least 6 hours to properly smoke). Our server suggested we order something else. The server rarely came to our table and around 7:40 I asked to speak to a manager saying that we did not have our food. The manager never showed. Then the server came by and told us our food was coming up.
Half an hour later, no food. One of us went to the host stand and again asked to speak to a manager. Still, no manager came. The host started to say that we were a large group (6 people) and it takes longer. She failed to recognize however that the party of 8 people that sat after us was already done eating as was every table that had been sat within the first hour of us arriving.
Then, the server brought us out some smoked wings to appease us. The wings, I admit, were delicious. Around 8:20, our food finally arrived. It was mediocre at best. The Sweet Potato Souffle was seasoned way too heavily with nutmeg. The pork I had to order instead of my brisket was a pile of fat. We had asked for a side of tartar sauce when our food was dropped off that I finally had to stand up and ask a bartender to get for us after 10 minutes of waiting. It was disgusting as was the fried catfish it was meant to be dressing.
Worst of all, when we received our bill (the server had realized that there was no way he was worth the automatic 18% gratuity and took it off) we were appalled to see there was an Entertainment Fee of $2 per entree. ""What entertainment?"" we asked our server. We spent the past two hours watching a car race and America's Funniest Home Videos while listening to an awful Jazz Muzak station. There was no live entertainment. The server said ""I'll have her take that off, too."" Is ""her"" the mysterious manager we never saw or spoke to?
All in all, a waste of our time and money. An awful way to introduce us to Atlanta and an awful way for us to show our husbands a great Father's Day. The manager and the staff should be ashamed of themselves.

This new location is soooo nice and the southern cooking is like eating at your moms house. This is my new favorite restaurant and I can't wait to go back.
