After bragging about the type of work his son, nephew and he could do, I allowed Warren to go out to look at the work that needed to be completed. He wrote up a proposal. He and I signed the proposal-$1000 up front, $1000 after two weeks and $1000 when completed. After working one week (nephew showed up one day), he emailed me and wanted to quit due to him not having complete access to the house. I asked mys sister to give him a key and convinced him to continue the work. Later he said he needed more money. I sent a money order made out to WC Constructions which he could not cash. He sent it back to me over night and paid for me to send another money order in his name back ($36). He wanted to quit again when I told him the insurance company would be coming out in two-three weeks to take photos of the house for insurance purposes only. Again, I convinced him to stay. My sister, who lives in the house, called him to ensure he knew the insurance rep was coming. He quit. I have a partially finished bathroom (plumming only) in the basement, nephews have been sleeping on the floor for 1.5 months because he never put the carpet down, and only 1/3 of the work was completed when he said he needed access to the house to be done in three weeks. Honestly, I don't think he is qualified to do the work because he assured me he was not the type to come back and ask for more money after he started the job. He professes to be a Christian and a family man, but refuses to complete the job he started. As a female, I have been ripped off too many times by so-called handyman's who take the money and run.
