Let me start out by saying that Paul is wonderful. He is down to earth, easy to talk to, and extremely helpful.

When we had a bathroom pipe suddenly spring a leak, we had to turn our water off to stop the leak. Paul was extremely prompt in his service (which was great, since we had no running water!), helpful with his advice, and reasonable with his rates. We were thrilled to find a great plumber that we felt comfortable with and could call anytime we had an issue.

Recently, we had an issue with our toilet, and Paul gave us extensive advice over the phone rather than charging us for a service call. We really feel he is an honest and competent tradesman, and we would recommend him without reservation.

How do you choose a plumber? I asked friends for referrals (and got names of people NOT to call). With trepidation, I sliced and diced the reviews, zip codes served, insiderpages, Angie's List, Google, Yelp and vendor websites. Dizzying! I finally settled on Paul Jursik's AthenaCare.

I have a 1920s bungalow with some "interesting" remodeling short-cuts done by the previous owner. I have had a number of repair people in my home (repair/replacement of furnace, A/C, roof, flood damage, and major appliances) through the years Most have been okay. Some have been quite subpar. But, I've never needed a plumber. So, when I discovered a leak under the kitchen sink two days before the arrival of a house guest who'd be staying for a week, I wasn't sure who to call.

All the online sources I checked for AthenaCare were very positive. The deciding factors for me were the recommendation of our local hardware store (their owners are my go-to people) and the Ahtenacare website: It's straightforward, gives useful information (billing practices, case history, services provided, contact information) without hype or flashing animation or 'come-on specials'. I left a voice message after hours requesting a call back the next day. Paul called the same evening and worked me in the next day.

He was prompt, courteous, and thorough in his estimate but didn't waste time chatting (something I value). He gave a written ball-park estimate (with the understanding that it could take more or less time depending on what he found when he took things apart (a completely expected senario). He did the necessary repairs THE SAME DAY!, alerted me to potential problems with a face-lift planned for the kitchen. He was in and out in one day and on-budget.

In short, Athenacare provided the BEST EXPERIENCE I've ever had with a repair person in my home. Kudos to Paul. I know who I'll be calling the next time I have a plumbing issue.

AthenaCare has done a great job every time I've called. From simply offering informed and impartial advice to arriving the same day to handle an emergency, I know I can rely on efficiency, expertise and a good clean up afterward. It's really easy to do business with Paul and he doesn't charge an arm and a leg!
