I would not bring a taxidermied animals to this vet - he is cruel and charges so much money then makes you feel like you are a bad person because you don't have a million dollars for his service- He needs to be out of business

My Dog was sick for 2 months and went to 3 other vets in Dutchess County before I brought him in to see Dr.Mintzer. Our postman recommended Mid Hudson Hospital to us. I faxed the other vet's lab tests to the office for Dr. Mintzer to review. When I got there the receptionists already seemed to know all about Bosco's illness and were very sympathetic about the loose poop I had been cleaning for the past 2 months. The technician quickly brought us into the exam room where she got Bosco ready for an exam. Dr. Mintzer came in and questioned me thouroughly about Bosco's life, how much he was insisde, how much outside, what kind of food he ate, whether he ate junk from the yard and lots of other questions. He already knew all about Bosco from the other vets reports. Then he gave Bosco one of the most thourough exams I've seen a vet give. He did a blood count and found a type of blood cell that he said might indicate parasites. He then told me to bring in a poop sample every day for the next week for him to examine. Some worms he told me don't make eggs every day and are easy to miss if you only look at one poop sample. On the third day he told me he found something called whip worms. He gave me some pills to give her and put her on a different heartworm pill which he said would prevent whip worms. Three days later she stopped having diarrhea for the first time in 2 months. Bosco hasn't had diarrhea for 5 months now. I'm so happy! I highly recommend this really nice office to anyone who wants their pet treated well and cared for like family.

I've been bringing my pets here for 10 years. The receptionists know all my pets by name and get me in right away. I've had two occasions where Mitzy was very sick and they even got me an appointment during their normal lunch hours. Dr. Mintzer is so gentle with both my dogs and cats... he really cares about their health. He tells me the truth about them even when I don't want to hear it.. Like that Mitzy is really overweight and needs a diet now!
Many of my friends come here and feel the same way. One of my friends even brings her bird from Kingston because she's so happy about how Crackers gets treated. I highly recommend this hospital.
