I had an appointment with Dr. Daniel Arrison of Chesapeake Urology Associates in Bel Air, MD. It was a terrible experience. I had been suffering extreme pain in what I perceive to be my urethra and left abdomen around the bladder, as both were sensitive to pressure and hurt when I had to urinate. No tests by my general care doctor nor emergency room visits turned anything abnormal. I was referred to Dr. Arrison for a urology appointment and possible cystoscopy.

I arrived at my appointment and explained my problem to him. Even before even examining me, he blamed my problems with urination on anxiety due to seeing an anxiety medication in my medical record. He persisted with this pre-diagnosis even after I explained to him that I have been dealing with anxiety for years but have only had problems with urination for a few weeks. During the examination, he did not feel it was important that I felt pain when he pressed on my bladder and pelvis, and he seemed to disregard my complaint about a sharp, cutting feeling during urination that doesn't go away except with powerful painkillers. Additionally, he made me feel incredibly unwelcome in his exam room and assumed an air of arrogance when I said I would like a cystoscopy, as my general care practitioner had recommended. I left the office in tears, still in immense pain and with issues unresolved.

Suffice it to say, I certainly am never returning to Dr. Arrison and would similarly discourage others from doing so.
