Providing good customer service is hard enough when everything goes right. But providing quality service when things go wrong is what separates the amateurs from the professionals.

The guys at Ideal Moving are the pros.

I've moved cross-country, Asia, Europe and back. I've hired deluxe moving companies with "white glove" service that charge tens of thousands of dollars. I've hired day laborers standing on the corner. I've tried doing everything myself to save money.

Ideal Moving, I'm happy to say, rank head and shoulders above the rest, and were well worth the money.

Here's my story of how they turned a bad situation into a GREAT one.

I scheduled an estimate with the company for a Saturday afternoon. I wait for them at the appointed time. No show. I call their office to see if we had mixed up the dates. No answer. Furious, I left a harsh review on Yelp, giving them one star, and start looking for alternatives.
Within a few hours, the CEO of Ideal Moving emails me, vowing to get to the bottom of it.

Add back one star: You need movers who will listen to complaints and take immediate action, not get defensive and argue with you. (I once had someone threaten to sue me for a bad review after they refused to take back merchandise that was broken during shipping.)

Turned out, the man who was scheduled to do my estimate, Carlos, tried to come, but was given an incorrect phone number. When he arrived, he tried to call me to get access through the complex gate, but could not reach me. Failing that, he left. I would have done the same.

True to his word, the CEO followed up and explained what happened in detail. He even made a policy change to how they schedule appointments, based on my feedback. From then on, they would provide customers with the cell number of the person doing the estimate (I had asked for it when I scheduled the appointment but was told to just call the office. Problem here was that the office was closed when I had my appointment, and I couldn't reach anyone.)

Add back another star: They actually changed the way they do business, based on customer feedback. With many companies, the comment box is just a dressed up trashcan.

After getting an estimate, I decided to give Ideal Moving a try. They ended up earning five stars. If you want to know how they did it, read on.

On moving day, my movers, Orlando, Rafael and Josh arrived right on time. Here's what they did right:

* Wrapped every piece of furniture as if it was made of bone china.
* Got IKEA furniture that collapses if you sneeze too hard? No worries. I listened to my movers discuss how to move these pieces as if they were planning a play on third down with 10 yards to go. Impressive.
* No missing hardware. They kept track of all the nuts and bolts for every piece of furniture.
* Ultra polite and professional.
* No worries about having your stuff get "lost." With every single one of my mother's moves, she had things stolen by the laborers. I have never had anything stolen in my many moves, but it is still an ever-present fear in my mind, and I've constantly patrolled my moves to keep an eye on things. My movers instantly dispelled my fears. After 15 minutes of watching these guys work I felt assured enough to sit down and relax for the first time that week.
* Best of all, they were fast, efficient and thorough. As a result, the final bill came in way under the initial estimate.

You are paying movers for the work, but when you get peace of mind, that becomes priceless, particularly when it comes to something as stressful and complicated as moving. I wouldn't wish a move on anyone. But if you need to do one, these guys will make it as painless as it can possibly be

I was referred here by a friend and I sure am glad I was.
Josh Nino & Luis were our crew and these guys are part machine, part magician.
They came in, scoped out the stuff getting shipped, we went thru the paperwork/process and then they got down to business.
Holy crap they are good, we have some oversized stuff in a relatively small condo, they were able to get everything out without a scratch, and moved into our new home with ease.
These guys offered tips to help speed up the process which was really great, they weren't sitting around taking their time milking the clock, they worked hard and it was very appreciated.
Add to the mix that these guys had to move our stuff during a downpour and they would earn 10 stars if I could rate them on that.
Pricewise these guys are money well spent, I will definitely be using them for my next move which hopefully wont be for a little while.
I highly recommend these guys, you wont be disappointed

I absolutely loved working with Ideal Moving & Storage. These guys are great, We have moved 2 times in the last four years, and used other movers in the past who broke items we cared a lot about.
When it came to moving from New York City to FL. this time we did our homework and found a company that delivers what they promise. They came and did our in-home estimate, we agreed on the price and that's exactly what we ended up paying. I have to admit- we had a bit more than was on the sheet, but the movers didn't complain- the price was the price and that was it.
Not only did they bring all the stuff to wrap everything- there wasn't an extra charge for blankets, boxes, etc. They even took our clothing out of the closets and packed & Unpacked it at the new place! How awesome is that.
They work quickly and efficiently, We were probably a big pain in their behinds, since the place we were moving to wasn't ready when it was supposed to be. They were so sweet, and held our delivery for five extra days.
When it came time to unload our truck full of stuff- the delivery guys were incredible! It took less than 4 hours for them to unpack an entire truck, including stairs and a bit of a walk to our front door- not to mention our three levels inside the place as well.
They worked their butts off ! They even helped us move things around after we changed our minds where we wanted them,
I'm sure we were a nightmare customer for them but they made us feel like we were super easy to work with, If you want a professional, reasonable move and have faith your belongings will arrive intact, entrust your move to Ideal Moving & Storage
Thanks you guys.

I would like to thank Ideal Moving for all of the professional help that they provided towards myself as well as my family. At the time of my move from Brooklyn, NY, my family and I were going through financial problems due to my mother being in the hospital. I had to relocate to Atlanta, GA due to this situation on limited money. When Lisa contacted me, they were very willing to work with me and my financial situation. On the day of my move, the workers were terrific! They were very polite and handled all of my items with care, they even went out of their way to help me with a few things around the house that needed to be packed. Overall I would recommend Ideal Moving to anyone that will be moving if they are looking for a company that is not a fraud and is willing to work with you. Thank you again... You Guys are GREAT

Now that my family and I are at least somewhat settled into our new home (there are still many boxes to unpack), I wanted to take a moment to thank Ideal Moving for your help with our move. From start to finish, I felt that you were honest, that your moving crew was professional and courteous.
I also wanted to note what a great job Joseph did directing the guys and handling the day of logistics of the move.
Additionally, he went the extra mile to be sure that we were happy with where everything ended up being located in our new home. It's obvious that Joseph takes his work seriously and wants your customers to be happy, and he sees it as his job to be sure that happens.
For example, after finding a suitable location for a regularly sized bookcase to fit in our uniquely sized basement and after removing the legs on the bookcase to ensure it would fit properly in the space provided ? Joseph turned to me and said how glad he was that we worked it out together ... that he wasn't happy unless he and his crew found a good place for all of our things in our new home. This impressed me.
Joseph and Abby worked both days and did a great job. The rest of the crew was very helpful as well.
Thank you again for all of your help

Ideal Moving & Storage is the worst company you could hire, bottom line. Below is the email that I wrote them after my move-in process went completely awry. It has gone absolutely unanswered. Yet, another reason why EVERYONE should steer clear of this company.

"Dear Ideal Moving & Storage,
Unfortunately, I'm writing to you to express my sincere dissatisfaction with the Ideal Moving & Storage. Never in my life have I been more compelled to send a letter of complaint. I scheduled your service for a move and was assured that the service would arrive within hours between 8am and 10am. At 9am, when a truck and movers had not arrived at my apartment and, more importantly, I had not been communicated with, I called your offices and was told to wait until 10am and surely a truck and the movers would arrive by then. At 10am, the truck and movers did not arrive and I had heard NOTHING. I understand that problems occur and in Manhattan drivers are sometimes faced with traffic or issues that are beyond their control. HOWEVER, at the very least, there should be communication of anything that comes up to customer so they are not left wondering and waiting aimlessly. It was not until I called back SEVERAL times (literally 4 or 5 times) that I was able to speak with someone that could tell me what the problem was, though at that point there was NO solution. I did not receive a WORKABLE solution until 11:15am, when I was told that another team would have to cover my job because the truck that had been allocated to my job had mechanical difficulties. The service was to arrive between 12:30 and 1pm. The service arrived at about 1:10pm. After the movers arrived, they were able to complete my move, BUT not without hurdles. As I had been promised that my move would occur between 8am-10am, both buildings (the one I moved out of and the one I moved into) were unprepared for the move and had to recover the elevators and one of them had even scheduled moves during the afternoon because my move was SUPPOSED to be completed by that time. So, my Ideal Moving & Storage had to share elevators with other services and this caused a significant delays. Overall, my job took 2 hours. Probably 30 minutes of which was wasted as a DIRECT result of the service being LATE. 3-5 HOURS LATE!!!!! With little communication and a complete lack of customer consideration.
I also did not mention that I was supposed to work in the afternoon. Had my move occurred within the allotted time, 8am-10am, the move would have been well over by noon. I was supposed to work at 1pm and had to call out of work as a DIRECT result of this problem. That is an opportunity cost of hundreds of dollars, not to mention my lack of professionalism as I had to explain to my superiors that the service I chose was not adequate.
Your lack of consideration for my move affected me negatively in SEVERAL ways. As I mentioned in the opening of this letter, NEVER have I been more compelled to send a letter of complaint.
For the mistake that the company made, I was offered a mere 3% reduction on my move. That's a mere ~$50 compensation for an entire day of agony. I have never been more dissatisfied with a company or service.
I am well aware that things happen that are beyond a company's control. However, the manner in which this situation was handled was neither professional nor accommodating. As long as I can ever remember, the customer should always come first. In this situation, on more than one occasion, I felt as if my needs came last."
Do yourself a favor and hire another company. Ideal Moving & Storage is the WORST!

Several weeks ago when we first looked into movers, we were apprehensive about moving companies.
The thoughts of entrusting our personal belongings to a complete strangers made us nervous.
To ease our fears, we checked the rating of each mover online as Ideal Moving & Storage had a good rating, offered a good rate and was very helpful when we called with questions so we reserved their services.
We had a crew of four men move our entire three bedroom house from NY to Santa Monica CA.
Needless to say the movers were punctual, considerate and very cautious in handling our furniture.
They had to deliver my baby grand piano to the second level of our home and they planned and executed this task with great professionalism and calm.
They came prepared with a piano board, they knew to take the legs off before moving it and they places it safely in my upper living area with great care.
Everything was in place by the end of the move, with only my boxes waiting for me neatly in the appropriate rooms. I finished unpacking the last of the boxes and everything was perfect.
The movers packed and taped up everything to ensure it stayed in good condition.
The whole process was extremely smooth, I was very impressed and by the way...The price was right too!
I will certainly call them again if I need to move and We have several friends moving in the next few months so we will recommend Ideal Moving & Storage to all my friends and family!
Thanks again for a job well done guys

I have moved twice in the city before, and did not have an enjoyable experience. My friend recommended that I call Ideal Moving, as she has used them twice before and was quite satisfied with their performance. I felt very comfortable in speaking with their representative, as he walked me through the whole process, including whats is expected of both me and the movers.
I spoke to my husand and we agreed to use Ideal Moving . We placed down a $50.00 deposit to secure a truck for 01-09-11. The day before, we get a call from the dispatch department, not only confirming our appointment and verifying the address, but telling us the name of the head mover.
Our truck arrived promptly at 09:00am. We were greeted by the head mover and his two assistants. From the moment they arrived to the time that they placed and set-up my new home, they did not stop working. I was very pleased with the work ethic of these three fine men. They even took the time to walk me through my new home to insure that everything was in its proper place.
I must commend Ideal Moving for a fabulous job that they did. After being burned by moving companies in the past, it was nice to have such a wonderful experience.
I will not hesitate to use Ideal Moving again, and will recommend their serivce to any friend and family that will be moving
Sincerely,
Kathy Berk

If I could give this company zero stars I would. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if all of the positive reviews that were written about this company were written by the people who work there themselves. Lol.
First of all I was quoted $360 and by the time they finished they charged us $2429.12. Are you kidding me??? They charged us $500 for THE TAPE they used. It is as though they used as much packaging materials as possible in order to charge us the maximum amount possible. These people are abusive and rude. The salesman I spoke too, would not give me any information about how to contact the manager and was very rude to me.
They also insisted that we pay this amount CASH before they took our furniture off of the truck. Of course we did NOT have $2500 on us so we got to also be charged for the amount of time it took us to drive to the bank. I was in tears from frustration by the end of the day and I will be writing reviews on every site possible. I may even go to the newspapers.
I feel as though we were taken advantage of because we were 20-something women but what they did to us is illegal. We may even take them to a small claims court. They added information to the signed agreement AFTER I signed it.
Better Business Burea will be hearing from me. Please do not give these people your business.

I see a lot of good reviews about Ideal Moving and Storage. It is definitely by company itself. We had a very bad experience with them. Going by reviews we opted them. Other assumption was price (which is high) but we thought it is relative to service and insurance coverage.
Timeliness : We had to shift within same apartment but to a different unit. Shifting appointment was at 2:00 PM and they didn't turn up till 6:20 PM. There was no response to calls we made.
Bargaining after reaching place: They were 3 of them, though we had requested for just 2 of them (ours was a 1BHK). The key person was very rude and was trying to convince us that we need to pay for all three of them, otherwise it will take atleast 4 hours to complete the shifting. Some how we didn't agree to it and said we will only pay the amount that we got in quote from company. Infact only 2 of them were doing real moving and key person was just bargaining with us till the end. When half of the work was done, he started asking for payment. My husband even paid the money that owed them.
Theft : Once the payment is done, they just didn't even care of complete the work. I was waiting in old unit and my husband was waiting in new unit, and in the mean time they had already left even without informing us. Only 3/4th of shifting was complete for which they took only 1 hour and we paid them for 3 hours work. After reaching to our new unit, I noticed that my office bag was lying open. I had closed that bag and kept in closet because I had all my jewelry in that bag. My wallet was open and all money that I had (~50$) was missing. From my jewelry box 3 finger rings and 2 ear-rings were missing. I personally had kept those jewelry in the box before we started moving. Jewelry were worth ~800$.
Incomplete work: Their quote included all disassembling, packing, unpacking, assembling. They just threw things here and there in our new unit. The new TV stand edges were all chipped off. The TV stand screws were all missing which we didn't get even today. This movement was a complete mess. Till 11 PM, me and hubby had to shift the pending items.
No response for claims: When we called for claims, they were not responding for anything. No response to emails.

1. They estimated the move would cost us around $300 and guaranteed it would cost no more than $500. The total was $2800 at the end.
2. They told us twice that a cashiers check would suffice as cash because they gave a 5% discount when you paid with cash. On the day of the move they told us otherwise and would not honor this.
3. It took them 2 1/2 hours to drive from New York City to Brooklyn and we were paying by the hour. (It DOES NOT take that long.)
4. They told us it would be a 3 person job. Two of the guys were great. The third guy acted like he was taking a stroll on the beach when walking to and from my apartment, all the while carrying the lightest item he could find. (I carried more, and heavier items to the truck than he did.)
5. Without prior notice, he made me pay for packing materials for certain items of furniture and told me he would not move them unless he "packed" them. (This would have been okay if it were factored into the moving price when I told them EXACTLY what items I was moving.)
These people are thieves and I would definitely NOT recommend them to anyone looking to move. Also, maybe I'm wrong, but I highly doubt all the five star ratings below are from actual customers.

I am a glass half-full type of person. I always try to see the best in people and am more likely to give the higher rating and the higher tip.
However, this moving experience was so completely horrific that I would like to give them a 0.
Details:
-Estimate of 3 hours, $380, took 7 hours, cost $2500
-Place was completely packed when they got there, all we needed was some furniture wrapped but they still charged us ~$1500 for packing supplies!
-They showed up without the correct tools so I had to *borrow* them from the neighbor (who commented, they are taking a long time, aren't they!)
-They thought the furniture was too heavy so instead of picking it up they *dragged* it across the new hardwood floor, can someone say sorry about that deposit???
-They left the screws for our babies crib lying all over the floor.
-The movers hardly spoke any English, only the lead spoke fluent English. My suspicion is they were undocumented workers he hired up from the street
At the new location:
-It took 20 minutes (during which time traffic was completely blocked) to park the truck on our straight, flat street. Lovely!
-When assembling the bed, it collapsed. Completely destroyed.
-They damaged a lot of other furniture as well.
-They chipped the wall.
-If the lead hadn't felt guilty, they would've left everything piled in the middle of the living room. My husband eventually told me to tell them to leave because he ws worried they would destroy more stuff.
-They didn't install the washing machine correctly so the first time we washed a load of clothes it FLOODED the utility room
The aftermath:
-I still have not been reimbursed for my costs (the move was over a month ago) despite my detailed emails and requests for claims.
-I have called and emailed many times. The only time they responded was because I threatened to contact an attorney.
If you value your time, your things, your sanity, your marriage, or your money DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!!!

We didn't have a good experience with Ideal Moving & Storage. For starters none of the movers spoke English well enough for us to communicate effectively. We kept getting nods but then they didn't do what we asked. The "lead" mover had an attitude and got angry if you questioned what they were doing. We felt like we had to tiptoe around and be nice so they didn't damage our things. They weren't very careful with our more valuable pieces, even after we emphasized that they be careful. We went through the house at move-in and asked that they be careful with the hardwood floors. But they were more interested in macho displays than being careful. Our floors were gouged in several places because they didn't use anything to protect the floors while unwrapping the furniture, which they did in a fast fury. We would have preferred to preserve our floors rather than saving the time it would have taken to carefully unwrap the furniture. Also, none of them seemed physically well suited to being movers and didn't seem to have a good handle on maneuvering the furniture. They charged a rediculous amount for "supplies" considering they only had to provide tape and elastic wrap. "Supplies" amounted to 60% of the bill! We also later found items that they charged for that should have been free, according to the contract. Overall it was a bad experience. We would never use them again.

I was looking for a company to perform an interstate move for me from Long Island, NY to Tempe, AZ. I wanted a company that would send a crew to put my stuff on the truck in long Island and have the same team travel with it all the way without any ?relaying?, no truck changes or stopovers, and deliver it in Arizona. I wanted a company that would offer packing services if I needed it, and I wanted a company that would treat my belongings as their own. And I wanted all that service at a reasonable cost.
After much internet research and reading of reviews, I chose three companies as ?possibles? and called each of them to get a quote.
Ideal Moving & Storage was the second company to come to my home to give me an estimate. The guy was very professional and personable and had a good sense of humor. It was obvious that he?d been in the moving business for a long time, and it only took him a quick look at my things to give me an estimate of costs for the move. He assured me that Ideal Moving & Storage could provide everything that I was looking for.
We talked about scheduling, and we talked about the costs, then he left and said he would send me a quote by email. I decided to go with Ideal Moving & Storage , based on professionalism and all the assurances that he gave me. In the end, most of those assurances didn?t stand up very well.
I ended up taking delivery from some guy that I never met, and he showed up much later than I expected, turning it into a very long moving day ! And, worst of all, I ended up paying much more than I was quoted - to the tune of $4000.00 So, would I hireIdeal Moving & Storage
again ?? Well, since I don?t live in Long Island anymore, it?s not an issue. However, if I did, would I use them again ? Probably not.
But having said that, I will give everyone atIdeal Moving & Storage credit for being professional, and good at what they do. All my belongings arrived in perfect condition ? nothing got broken or damaged in any way. So, for service and quality, they get good marks.
However, I felt cheated and robbed on the quote, and for that, I would not recommend Ideal Moving & Storage to anyone else.

We used them for our move to Miami in Dec 2010 (I know...my review is a bit late coming).
In my search for a reliable mover company, I received fast and informative responses scheduling our move. They were actually the preferred mover of choice from our high-rise apartment in New-York.

Move day went by surprisingly fast. The men called and showed up on time and started right away.
They wrapped our furniture better than when our couch was actually dropped off to us from the manufacturer!
They even got our move down fast than the quoted estimate, and they didn't charge for supplies (like tape and blankets).

Pros: They were on time, fast, competent and nothing was damaged. All service via phone and email was more than professional.

Cons: couldn't find any

We had James, Mike and Ben for our move.

On day of the move, showed up with way too small truck, and then accused us of having more stuff in our house after giving us a "binding estimate" - even though we had moved a full truck load of our own stuff prior to the move but after they looked at our stuff and gave us the estimate. Told us that it would be extra $2k to get another truck and move the stuff. Well, I shouldn't say he told us, because he actually screamed at us over the phone.

When they showed up, they demanded payment up front in cash, even though they were not entitled to do that by contract, and threatened to leave with our stuff if we didn't produce the cash up front.

Movers were day laborers, who were slow and didn't understand how to properly put our stuff into the truck.

Total scam artists, and to top it off, screamed at us. STAY AWAY FROM IDEAL MOVING & STORGE IN NEW YORK CITY!!!

First I set up an appointment for someone to come to my apartment and give me an estimate for my move. The estimate ended up being about $1500 less than I ended up paying. Then the guy who came to do the estimate started texting my cell phone (which I had to provide on the application I filled out) and asking me out.

On the day of my move, the movers showed up 4 hours late and started loading my belongings into a white truck with no logo anywhere.

They did not finish loading my belongings on the truck until 11pm and then told me I had to accept delivery at my new apartment building at midnight. I explained that I would not be able to have movers come in at midnight, and I had to call some shady supervisor on his cell phone who argued with me, and then finally offered me the option of storing the truck overnight for a fee of $250, and having the movers arrive with my belongings at 9am the next morning. I had no choice but to accept that option.

The next day I waited and waited, and the movers finally showed up with my belongings but a completely different crew at 1pm. When they unpacked my furniture my very expensive dresser was gouged on the top, and my mattress had been folded up and was permanently misshapen.

When I showed the gouge to the head of the crew, he told me that I should call the office and let them know and they would send a carpenter to fix it. I called several times but was never able to get anyone on the phone and did not receive any calls back.

They didn't finish unloading my belongs until 6pm and then I had to sit with the head of the crew for 2 hours while he calculated the amount I owed based on his markings on a scrap of paper. The crew had all gone downstairs, or so I thought, until one of them who was missing several teeth, all of sudden came out of the bathroom where he had apparently been for at least a half hour.

When all was said and done, my dresser was gouged, my mattress was damaged, and two boxes of my clothes disappeared, and it all cost me approximately over $2200.

Ideal Moving & Storage is a shady, unscrupulous rip-off and I hope their website with all of the positive reviews doesn't fool you into using them.

I was moving about 10 miles away and I must have called 5 different moving companies to get quotes, every called made my anxiety level go up, I hate moving! When I called Ideal (which should have been my first call, not my 5th), the lady who answered the phone made me feel SO MUCH BETTER! I had lived in the same apartment for 10 years, so I forgot what a task it would be to move. She gave me some advice that would make it easier, plus they were the lowest price, hey $100 bucks, is $100 bucks! Anyway, when the movers came, they wrapped up my stuff, and fit everything in to one load. When I was carrying boxes, the movers said 'let me help you with that' and carried those boxes too. Everything was moved without a hitch, it only took a few hours, when I was expecting all day. I don't know why I was so worked up about moving, either it really can be that easy, or the Ideal movers made it seem easy. So, I'm going to recommend to all of my friends to use Ideal. I worked for this company for a few months,on my first, and last trip to five different States I was promised to be paid ten cents for each mile, and that this was going to be a four day trip. My partner, and I left on Thursday,June,10. and we returned on Wednesday June,16. It took us six days to complete this nightmare. After paying for tolls, and fueling up both tanks several times, and after runing Two thousand eighty eight miles, when I came back all I had in my pockets was four hundred dollars ($400.00). That was my paid. I went over the reciepts with the suppose to be the boss,he did not want to pay me the rest of the money which he owe me,from two thousand and eighty eight ($2,088.00) Dollars, all I got was those four hundred dollars

While I was on the road, and leaving the State of Ohio,as soon as we enter Indiana I was stopped at a weight station, there I was giving several violations, and a ticket was issue to my license.I Spoke to the office about it,and they told me not to worry, that they would take care of it. I am worry about it,im about to loose my Commercial Drivers license because of this. The ticket is for the amount of two hundred and ninety six ($296.00) dollars, and I do not think these people would take care of that ticket at all.

About the peple in the office, and the suppose to be Boss,I have seen them really getting over on the clients, they would give to the clients an estimate, and when the moving job begins, and once that client signs for those documents, once the client signature is there they blow out the price to a level which is out of proportion,I have seen people actually cry because of what this guy Lior,Leo,David what ever he wants to call himself do to people. This guy is a criminal, and he is getting away with Fraud. This have to stop;this guy is hurting a lot of people, and he does not care about it at all. He is giving the moving business a very bad name, and if he continues its going to be worst.

The people whom work at the office seems to be going along with this scam,I know how they change there names when a client calls, and they know that they have mess up and they do not want to speak to that client. One of the Ladys which I know by Lisa ( I dont know if thats her real name) also goes by the name of: Donna. One of the guy in the Office whom I know by John, also changes his name, and sometimes he becomes: Jeff. The one whom says that he is the Boss, the Owner ,also uses different names,he uses: Lior,Leo,and David. When I first learned about this (about a week and a half ago) I said to myself: Why are these people changing there names? Now I realize why, they are scaming people, and becuase of that they should be investigated, and if there is any criminality on there part, they should be prosecuted for that.

I would be calling the Department of Labor to file a complaint for unpaid wages, and if I could sue them for pain and suffering I would sue them to,because what I have been thru in just a few days,is something outrages. No one should have to go thru this when they are working, and trying to make an honest living. I Hope someone would do something about this issue.Thank you for your time, and concern with this matter.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I'd give them no stars if I could.

First, they were 45 minutes late. Then the whole time the head mover was incredibly rude to me.

They didn't ask me where I wanted any of my furniture in the new place and just started placing it randomly. When I realized and asked them to move pieces, the head guy was (again) horrible.

Worst of all, they damaged all my furniture. In particular, they didn't properly secure the drawers of my grandmother's antique dresser, and when the head mover took it off the dolly, all the drawers fell out. My heirloom dresser is ruined--scratches all over it--and he scuffed up my brand new floor to boot. On top of that, when I asked him, in tears, what happened, he said that nothing happened!!! He tried to act like he had done nothing wrong, then he tried to convince me that it was MY fault. He finally confessed after five minutes of me crying.

They also dirtied and ripped the base of my bed, which is cloth. My other furniture wasn't damaged as badly, but it was all terribly handled.

At the end of the whole ordeal, when I still tipped them, the head mover said that I didn't tip enough and demanded a larger tip. He said that each mover (3 total) normally got tipped 20% of the whole move. Call me crazy, but paying 160% for a move sounds CRAZY. Especially when they did the worst job ever.
The majority of a day wasted, and all due to a mistake they made! I will certainly never use them again, and I strongly urge anyone considering Ideal Moving & Storage to look elsewhere.
Bottom Line: They were absolutely horrible. Don't trust these nasty people with your belongings!

I don't usually write any reviews, but this company was the worst moving experience in my life.

First of all, the three men were not professional, rude, slow and dishonest.

My new place was just 2 blocks from the old one, yet they charged me $1,500 (for a 1 bedroom apartment), but I didn't see this coming, for they charged me extra after they finished unloading. They told me that they worked extra hours, so they will have to charge more. Did I mention how slow they were? Now I'm pretty sure that was on purpose.

And it's not all. They broke some of my furniture, including 2 floor lamps, and stole some of my belongings - Why? I have no idea, but that painting was very valuable to me.

I'll tell every one and all of my friends not to use this movers and make sure this review gets everywhere online. Stay away from this company!

Just a note, this is my first online review ever. I signed up for Citysearch and Yelp just to share this experience. That?s how strongly I feel about it.

Before I get into the details of my complaint, let me sum it up in a single sentence:

Ideal Moving & Storage acknowledged that they broke my furniture, yet refused to honor the insurance policy that I had purchased from them and then kept charging me this premium on furniture I had left in storage.

I hired Ideal Moving & Storage Moving to move my furniture from my apartment to their storage facilities. This was nice furniture that had been given to me so I thought it would only be prudent to buy insurance supplied by Ideal Moving & Storage. I purchased $5,000 worth of insurance with a $300 deductible knowing that I could be on the hook for the remaining amount if the furniture were completely destroyed. That?s how insurance works. You pay for the amount of the insurance that you want. The initial move out of my apartment and into storage seemed to have gone well, or so I thought.

Six months later, Ideal Moving & Storage moved half of my furniture from their storage facility into my new apartment with the other half remaining in storage as I had less space in the new apartment. When the movers unpacked my furniture, I was dismayed to see that almost all of the pieces had suffered damage. The manner in which the items were packed caused serious chipping to the backs and legs of all the chairs. Almost every piece had brown tape marks on the fabric, leather, or wood. Most egregiously, my fine lacquered dining room table had chunks the size of nickels missing from its base. Obviously, I was upset, but this is exactly the reason one purchases insurance.

They were willing to give me $0 on the insurance policy and a nominal sum of $200 to go away. Didn?t you see the photos of all the damage that you caused to my furniture? Yes, they had. Don?t you admit that the damages were caused some time during the move / storage by your company? Yes, it was.

?So... how are you not willing to pay for a single dollar of this claim??

?Sir, you ?underinsured? your furniture. Because you under insured the furniture, the policy is null and void and we can not pay out on your claim under this policy.? (At least they called me sir).

She kept pointing to the $200 check they were offering and lecturing me on how lucky I was to even be offered that much. I believe the exact quote was ? this is a courtesy, as you deserve nothing.?

Then Ideal Moving & Storage actually had the gall to continue to charge me an insurance premium for a policy that they themselves had claimed to be invalid. The same supervisor that determined my policy was invalid would not refund the premiums. She was essentially saying that I should continue to pay premiums for a policy that they have already deemed invalid.

I know moving is always hard and nobody likes to do it. Unfortunately, Ideal Moving & Storage has a deep playbook of tricks that they will use to ensure that a bad situation is only made worse. I implore you to avoid Ideal Moving & Storage for your own good and for the sake of justice. To Ideal Moving & Storage, I want to say that I hope this letter inspires you to rise above your low skulduggery and change your business practices so that maybe one day you can be the movers people wish they had.

i bet that all the 5 star reviews are from the actual employees. i remember i read the bad reviews and mentioned my concerns to the sales rep Jacob and he said don't go anywhere else GO ON CITYSEARCH we have great reviews. SUCH LIARS!!!! SOME ONE DELETE THE BAD REVIEWS I READ 3 BAD
REVIEWS 2 DAYS AGO !!! AGAIN LIARS !!!

The Worst and Most Unprofessional Moving Company - Everything from being Late, Furniture Damange to Overcharge!!!

I was moving locally, distance is about 30min drive. Due to heavy and lots of furniture I've hired Ideal Moving & Storage . I read about their ratings and reviews, sounds like a reliable and good moving company to work with. Most reviewers stated that they are on time & great, etc. So I have decided to hire them.
On the day of my move - everything that can be expect to go wrong has gone wrong.
1) Moving Crew were late for more than 2hrs. (Scheduled move from 2pm-4pm). Crew didn't arrive until after 4pm.
Due to living in a luxury building, freight elevator must be reserved for moving and will be charged if not being used within the time frame as scheduled.
2) Overcharge my credit card (a great amount) than what's stated on my contract. I tried to speak to the consultant who send me the contract, they send me to someone else and refuse to let me speak with the person who send me the contract. They gave me an excuse as the other consultant doesn't know anything and charge me the incorrect amount. They told me that if I cancelled them now, they will charge me a cancellation fee, on top of that I have to pay for the freight elevator fee due to their crews being late and they wouldn't make you aware of the new charge until the day of your move so you have time to hire another moving co.
3) Moving crew does not know how to dissemble and assemble furniture. It took hours to complete a piece of furniture that could have been assemble within less than 15min.
4) After unpacking the furniture pieces, there were deep scratch marks on my wooden furnitures that is very noticeable.
5) The manager promise a refund check on the day of the move. The refund check never came. I have contacted them. They gave one excuse after another like the accountant will be sending it out this week, the check never arrived. Another excuse, the account department only cut checks twice a month, sorry for the delay, etc.... If you contact them a few more time, they will ignore you!!!

We moved from MA to FL and used Ideal Moving & Storage. Jacque was a pleasure to work with from the first call. The movers did a great job at packing our belongings, professionally packed and secured. Ideal also worked with us on the storage of our belongings while we found a perminent place to live in FL. David was also great and willing to work with us when we needed extra time before we were ready for our belongings to be delivered.

Great people at a great moving company.

I absolutely loved working with Ideal Moving & Storage. These guys are great! We have moved five times in the last four years, and used other movers in the past. Alpha Moving ripped us off and broke a few items we cared a lot about, some other local movers in New York City took care of the other three moves, but complained along the way.
When it came to moving from New York City to Jersey City New Jersey , this time, we did our homework. Ideal Moving & Storage really does deliver what they promise. The owner, David came and did our in-home estimate, we agreed on the price and that's exactly what we ended up paying.
How awesome is that?!
They work quickly and efficiently, each guy introduced himself with a smile and a hand shake and they didn't complain at all.
We were probably a big pain in their behinds, since the place we were moving to wasn't ready when it was supposed to be. They were so sweet, and held our delivery for three extra days. They didn't unload the truck, they just let it wait for us to be ready... and they could not have been nicer about the whole thing.
When it came time to unload our truck full of stuff- the delivery guys were incredible! It took less than 4 hours for them to unpack an entire truck, including stairs and a bit of a walk to our front door- not to mention our three levels INSIDE the place as well.
They worked their butts off and we were amazed and grateful! They even helped us move things around after we changed our minds where we wanted them, and did it with a smile!
We were a nightmare customer for them, I'm sure, but they made us feel like we were super easy to work with and they were grateful for our business.
If you want a professional, reasonable move and have faith your belongings will arrive intact, entrust your move to Ideal Moving & Storage
Thanks Ideal Moving & Storage you guys are awesome!
Pros: Don't complain, their flat rate covers everything

I moved with Ideal Moving after I spoke to Jacque C. She never promised me heaven, but advised me well. She stressed that i utilize all my packing spaces, empty all cabuinet and to let her know every item that would be picked up. The advise she gave helped with my move a great deal and actually made it stress free and cost effective. I had a few other companies who gave me home estimates, but none advised me like Jacque. She gave me a quote for 2200 - NJ to LA and I actuall paid 2170.80, because I took her advise and pack all my things well, labelled and even went over board by measuring the items- the scientist in me!. when the movers came, of course they tried to say i had more, but becasue Jacque had advised me well, I was able to stand firm and pay what was the given quote. The only moneys i parted with was the tip. I tipped the movers more and gave the foreman $20 only-I wonder why they have him working. Jacque you know your business I will refer all my freinds and family to you, but I am not too confindent in your foremen or David or whatever his name was!

When I phoned to book the move, Lisa was polite, helpful and even bragged that her mother had used Ideal Moving and was super enthusiastic about the service. Lisa even undercut the lowest estimate I'd been given by $200. I thought the experience was too good to be true...And it soon proved to be.
Initially, Lisa told me the owner would come to my apartment to give me a guaranteed estimate, but then explained he couldn't because there wasn't a subway close enough to my place (a six minute walk). Lisa (with the owner in the room with her) guaranteed by phone that the estimate I'd been given would be binding "unless I added a refrigerator or some other large piece of furniture." And she said the owner would be the one moving me on the day.
On the day: the movers arrived nearly 2 hours late. The owner was not with them. The "head mover" said he wouldn't know the cost of the move until everything was packed in the truck. Concerned, I rang Lisa, told her I'd forgotten about my bicycle and that there were 6 extra boxes. Lisa assured me that wouldn't tip anything into a new price category so I went ahead and let the guys pack my stuff.
The movers were quick, efficient, careful with my things and packed with incredible care.
Once the van was packed, I received a phone call from David (who said he was the manager), informing me that I owed an additional $350. He was rude, shouted at me, was unconcerned and unwilling to honor what had been agreed. When I asked to speak to Lisa, he said I could speak to her, but that he wasn't changing his mind. Lisa was suddenly mute when I spoke to her, like a child caught in a lie. David got back on the phone screaming at me so that friends, gathered in my apartment to say goodbye stood with gasping, open mouths in amazement as his voice echoed from the receiver against my ear. After they left, I realized they'd forgotten my large antique desk (which had been scheduled for the move) so it's utterly impossible that the extra boxes and bicycle took up more cubic feet than the desk they'd overlooked, which was on the inventory Lisa and I created by phone.
If only the problems had ended there! I wrote an email to Lisa and the owner about my concerns and disappointment. I never received a reply to the email, nor to any of the phone calls I made to find out where my belongings were after 2 and 1/2 weeks when I'd been told they would arrive in 5 days (at most).
More phone calls were not returned. Finally, over a week later, I finally spoke to David, who had been out sick, and apologized for the delay, explaining the truck had broken down outside of Chicago. David promised my things would arrive by the end of the weekend. He also offered a $100 reduction in the fee, which I gratefully accepted. On the following Tuesday still no things. When I spoke to David again, he was a monster, screaming at me and hurling abuses, which, had they been physical, would have been assaults. I have never in my life encountered a man speaking to a woman with such violence and malice. It was shocking and frightening. He told me my things would arrive whenever he decided they would and I had nothing to say about it. "The gravy train," he said, "stopped here." Whatever that was supposed to mean, I'm still not clear.
My things finally arrived 2 days later with only one broken leg on my antique Edwardian sofa.
My best advice: look elsewhere and skip the gravy train.

The owner is David Cohen; the amount of personal attention he afforded me is what won me over. I had read similar reviews on-line and in fact they are true! David stated that he understood today's consumer has many choices yet he wanted MY business. I had a piddly move from Alexandria VA to the West Village but that did not deter David. David did not pressure me rather he offered sensibility in our negotiations (his movers being careful + thorough). He built my trust.
The two movers departed NYC at 4:30ish a.m. for VA and arrived 10 min early at 9:50 a.m. Avi and Mike met me at my storage unit and proceeded with exceptional care. I was so relieved that they were thinking adults; they asked me questions and proceeded to work without delay (or breaks). I jumped on the regional train and met them back in NYC. They arrived 10 minutes early (again!) - how they managed a five hour commute and were ON-TIME is exceptional (they thwarted a major freeway accident which I confirmed on-line).
Avi and Mike carried my most precious items up three flights of stairs and together we managed 'watching' the moving truck to prevent illicit NYC fees (i.e., I was responsible for any parking tickets). I admire their tenacity and truly - not being cheesy here - their work ethic. They were hounds. Amazing.
I tipped my two rockstars 20% because they deserved it. Thanks David for getting my start in this amazing city off to a most splendid start. cw
Pros: Avi + Mike (the 2 movers) were kind and careful
Cons: Negotiations; but, they were true to their word - GREAT!
