Frightening experience. April was fine during prenatal care, but when it came time for the birth it was like we had a totally different midwife. We had an issues during the birth that a postpartum nurse later explained were really common and no big deal if addressed properly. The issue was quickly and easily addressed when we got to the hospital using simple means that April could have done at our home. But instead of helping my baby be born, April panicked, she changed her mind over and ever (she even said "I'm sorry I'm being so indecisive"), and worst of all she did not tell me what was going on. I knew something was wrong but she kept saying "you don't need any help to birth your baby" and "he's just about to be born" which was totally untrue. And later she admitted that she knew that he was not in the right position to be born at that point. Through the birth and after, April was detached, cold, did not show me a shred of caring. What was really scary was that after the birth, I examined my birth records and also learned about legally what she is required to do when the baby's heart rhythms are not normal. The law says she was supposed to transport me to the hospital IMMEDIATELY when there are heart rhythms in the "non-reassuring" category. She didn't transport me until more than 1 hour later, after the baby had had 3 different kinds of "non-reassuring" heart rhythms and finally what is classified as an "ominous" heart rhythm. Even then, she waited more than 10 minutes to make the decision to transport. So scary. Do not hire her.
