I'm still shocked at the shady business tactics of Rapid Realty. I hope to never come across this type of business in my life. The stress of searching for an apartment is enough without having to be mislead, lied to and in the end robbed

this is the worst and most unprofessional real estate company that i have ever dealt with. please believe me. i know you dont know me and i dont know you, but i have never once before taken the time to write a review of a place. this place has made me do that.

let me tell the story:

i went there because i found an ad on craigslist and lo and behold, it was actually a showing agent from here. i went to see a few places with them and finally decided on one that i liked.
their procedure is to take a certain amount of money as a deposit. i gave that and they were more than happy to take that money (obviously).
unfortunately, it didnt work out with me getting the place that i wanted. so now comes the time for the refund of the deposit right? i gave them cash and so i expected them to simply give me my cash back. reasonable right? Wrong! first of all, apparently they dont keep cash on hand. and no, they cant get it for you. and the only way to get your money is to issue you a check.
so i had no choice but to take the check. they deal with bank 'X' - so i was like what if they dont cash it? because i dont deal with bank 'x'. they tell me that any bank can do it. fine.
then they date the check for the next day! not even for the day that i was there to pick it up! i had given them $400 - of my hard earned money - and they couldn't give it to me that day?
anyways, i had no choice but to go to the bank a few days later. i get there and the teller tells me "i cant cash this check. tell the person who wrote it that i cant cash it and they'll know why. i can't tell you why because it's not your account".
at this point im a little perturbed. i go back to their office - and find some other irrate customers waiting for a refund as well - when they finally tell me that i can go to the bank the next day and get my money.

i know its a long review - and quite wordy. i hope you got through the whole thing.

basically, they only want your money (as with any business), but if you're not giving them any money, they don't give you the time of day and make you run around and really at the end of day, cease to respect you.

This company employs unprofessional, overly pushy realtors that make promises and do things behind your back. If you want a pleasant experience avoid them. It is not worth the misery.

OMG I'm soooo happy!!! I am pleased to say that my experience in finding my 1st apartment with Rapid Realty was an awesome one! My Rapid agent made the whole process easier than I thought it would be and I felt that he genuinely cared about finding me my perfect apartment...which he did :) . My cousin will be getting ready to move to Brooklyn in 1 month, and you can bet that I'm recommending her to Rapid Realty in a heartbeat!!!

I had an excellent experience with Rapid Realty. I am now living in a comfortable one bedroom apartment thanks to Curtis from the Bay Ridge office. I simply told him what I was looking for and the amount I was willing to spend. He was very professional and courteous and in one week I was able to move to my new apartment.

The first time my boyfriend and I went to view an apartment. First off The broker looked very unprofessional. We went to put a deposit anyway because we were in a rush to move. When we got to the office, they told us the apt was a fee apt instead of non fee like the ad said. To top it off it was 200 above the monthly rent the broker originally stated. I walked out of there with the speed of light. Two months go by with endless application fees and we decide to try Rapid Realty again with another broker. I called one person who transferred me to another and then another. We go see an apt we were interested in and the first thing that comes out this mans mouth was "wana put a deposit?" NO we said we would check out the neighborhood and get back to them. He made it his business to add "yea, if its still here". His beard was over grown, he had stained clothing, and not to mention he reeked of fish. He has some credit issues but they made promises that they new the landlord and could help us regardless of his credit so long he had no rent court. It took 5 days instead of the 2 they said it would take all to tell us we were denied. They could not state why. Our full month deposit was suppose to take 48 hours to be returned, took 4 days!! I told them to KISS MY ASS GOOD BYE. They are the only agency who asked for a deposit just to apply. NO WAY NEVER AGAIN!!!

whether I should even bother reviewing this place, but I decided unsuspecting apartment hunters need to know. There's nothing here from you in terms of good and knowledgeable service, just a group of inexperienced young agents trying to convince you into renting something either totally out of the neighborhoods you're interested in, or overpriced. Look elsewhere, even just Craigslist is better than this.

My experience with Rapid Realty is that they are extremely unprofessional and seedy. The agents really just want to get you in the worst apartment for the most amount of profit. My cousin just applied for an apartment with them. After sending them all of the necessary documentation, the agent avoided his calls for two days, then today called to say the apartment he was interested was not actually $1600, which it was listed for but $1800! this is the most absurd unprofessional thing I have ever heard of. At least she promised she would find him an apartment by today lol!! disgusting

When you see this company RUN the other WAY!!!! They will tell you everything you need to hear to make the deal seem like the dream apartment. The realtor Zaghir Ahmed aka Zigar in the park slopes office there Brooklyn location that lives in Carroll Gardens is a prime example (funds I am sure received deceptive tactics and scamming people into leaving deposit). He is ruthless, unprofessional, can hardly articulate with out sounding uneducated and giving you false information about possible apartment available. He talked me into putting down money for an apartment in park slopes. Come to find out weeks after leaving the deposit, information for the credit check, W2, proof of employment and all information need for the application; a couple weeks later called me with the story of it was possible not available. If I could put down $ 5,000 dollars verse original $ 2,600 balance due on move the in date. He claims there was another application that was better. Weeks after I was giving a receipt as the apartment being mine. This had nothing to do with my deposit to hold the apartment. He pulled what is called a bait and switch. When I requested a refund, he would not return my phone calls or text at all. Funny, enough after seeing the apartment he called me everyday countless times (more times then I talk to my girlfriend or anyone in a day!) in regards to if I wanted the apartment. He went as low as to call me/text on New Years Eve and New Year?s days all day back to back in addition to endless texts. When a refund was request he disappeared faster then a fugitive on the America most wanted list. This is a very shady unethical company. I had to let him know in text/ voice mails I was going to contact the proper channels ( help me Howard from the news, my personal lawyer, the attorney general, the commission for consumer of realty, the better business bureau etc) If you check this site and others, all this company reviews are 95% - 100% percent negative. Trust what you read!!! If anyone took time to write a comment please take a word of advice look to another company (it not worth it in the end, save your self the stress, time and energy). In the end I found an apartment with a genuine professional broker verse a rapid realty who are more un trust worthy then money hungry lawyers. Good luck.

I was hit with the possibility of being homeless with my daughter. My parents sold our home and I was left the responsibity of looking for 3 apartments. I went to Rapid Realty whom connected me with an agent, Zaghir Ahmed. This gentleman listened to my trouble and got right to work. We went on many viewings and found 3 apartments in a matter of 3weeks. I am currently living in my new apartment, in a safe, vibrant neighborhood with nice landlords. Zaghir Ahmed (Rapid Realty) is an amazing agent with a caring heart. I recommend him to all.

I had a similar experience that Niknik916 had.
I got a weird feeling when i was being asked to put down large amounts of money with no information, and all the agents that were helping me were college students that didn't know anything.
I was also told that the apartment was "no fee" but i was asked to pay 1st and last month plus security, which i later found was wrong. (i was actually paying 1st and security/last month to the landlord, and paying a 1month broker fee). They kept asking for me to have a guarantor, so my parents were going to do it.
However, they would not relinquish a copy of the lease for my parents to look over before signing. this totally sketched me out, because only an idiot will sign a lease without reading it and a guarantor is essentially signing the lease for you and are holding themselves accountable for any deviation from the terms of the lease. we were getting threatening messages telling us that they HAD to sign it that day or forget the apartment. we ended up finding another apartment with a different branch of rapid realty and the apartment wasnt as great (its a 5 floor walk-up!!!) but we were able to see the damn lease.
But...i was working with Kristin Halla and Anthony Holder and i thought they were great...until i got the apartment. i had asked about 20 times to see a copy of the damn lease for my records, and i was told i would get one. after asking about 20 or so times i was sent a copy, but it was missing 2 of the most important pages!!! so as i am typing this i am still completely pissed off that i can't get a copy of the lease and they are ignoring my emails, that i am getting my sister who is a lawyer involved while i still have evidence in the emails that i have been asking with no response. i have also be reporting rapid realty to the better business bureau because they are swindling people out of hard earned money, and anthony holder, kristin holla, and monique, you guys just better watch out because you will more than likely be unemployed soon...
(i also put 1 star because i had to, it i could put negative stars i would!!!)

I didn't bother reading the 5 star ratings because I know they were put there by Rapid Realty employees. I starting apartment hunting in Brooklyn in July 2010; luckily, I was in no rush to find a place. My friend referred me to an agent at Rapid Realty (she mentioned him several times and I decided to call the guy the fifth time). So, I made an appointment to meet with the gentleman the following day and he showed me ONE fabulous apartment. The second we walked out of the brownstone, standing on the sidewalk, he told me that I would have to give him a check for first month?s rent, last month?s rent and a security deposit. I couldn't understand what the security deposit was for because he had already told me in a previous conversation that Rapid Realty WOULD NOT charge a fee. He told me that the third month?s rent was in case I left the place in a mess when I moved out. I thought that's what last month?s rent was for. Anyway, I asked him why in the world would I give a dime if there was no guarantee I would get the apartment. At that point I hadn?t filled out one form. He didn?t even know if I had given him the right name. All he was concerned with was money. I proceeded to remind him that he promised to show me several apartments and even though I really like the apartment he had just showed me I wanted to see a few more, have options. He was a bit annoyed and tried (aggressively) to talk me into giving him a check. Eventually, he retreated and promised to take me out to see more apartments the following day. In the meantime, I dreamed about the first apartment I saw. So?he and I went out the following day to look at 3 apartments. The first apartment was a DISASTER. We were unable to get into the second apartment because his colleague had the keys and she wasn?t there. The third apartment was cute but more junior level. We doubled back to the second apartment and it was a no go. I really wanted to settle on the first apartment I saw the day before but was suspicious about having to leave money behind without nothing being done i.e. credit check, application, etc. I told the agent that I had to sleep on it. He and I went back and forth. During one conversation he was extremely understanding and comforting and the next conversation he was practically yelling at me.
I decided not to go with the apartment because of this uneasy feeling I had. I just couldn?t wrap my head around giving my money away but I was obsessed with the apartment. I went to Rapid?s website and low and behold, the apartment I wanted was listed, after I was told that it was taken off the listing. Approximately three weeks had gone by and my phone rang. It was the first agent; the one my friend initially referred me to. He told me that the apartment I really wanted was available again. I was so angry because I knew something wasn?t right. I asked him what happened to the people that signed the lease and he said something about the tenants not being eligible for the apartment. I thought that it was odd that a month had gone by and they just figured out the tenants were not eligible. I decided that I would cut ties with that agent and Rapid Realty all together. The last I heard from that tenant was a voicemail I received stating ?Hi ____! I know I?m fired but wanted to let you know that I think you are real cool and maybe we can hang out sometime?. Can you believe it. Rapid Realty is the worst!!!

PS. I was forced to put one star, otherwise it would have been nothing at all.

My roommate and I spent about a month looking for an apartment with no luck; but Chris managed to help us find an awesome place in less than 10 days. He showed wonderful customer service and put a great deal of effort and consideration throughout the entire process. Thanks Chris! :)

I am JennU77 roommate and I would have to agree that Chris did a tremendous job at finding us our beautiful apartment quick and easy! He made the process swift and painless, he was always easy to reach and would get back to us in no time, un-like other people we have dealt with. Not only was he helpful with our move he had PLENTY of jokes and made everyone feel comfortable.

Thanks for everything Chris, I'll be waiting for a housewarming gift a.k.a PS3!

P.S- I just referred him to a friend today and he is already on it and has a place to show them TODAY!

Chris Horner how do I love thee let me count the ways....... My roommates and I were in dyer need to move quickly. So like many others went to Craigslist. I contacted an ad. Unbeknowst to me, the ad was from a realty company. I was a little leary to proceed due to past experiences, but Chris was different! He informed me that the apt we were interested in was no longer on the market. ( Rather then of just showing us something else and passing it off as the apt that was adverised , trust me this has happend!!) Instead he informed us that he had something AMAZING that just came on the market and he would like to show us. He worked on our time. Some how some way he got 3 girls on 3 different schedules to see this apt without the slightest hesitant or annoyance of our ever changing schedules. It was not an easy feat! When we saw the apt we fell in love! An amazing 3 Bed/ 2 bth in the area we wanted. He was friendly, genuine, and had our best interest at heart. Chris is very efficient at what he does and doesnt waste your time with B*&%*t apts. Chris Horner u rock. ( sorry for the corniness>>>>> but he's great) :)

My girlfriend and I were shown an apartment by Chris and his associate Vivica at about 11:30 am, we fell in love with it, and had the lease signed by 6 that night. We were working with incredible time constraints and Chris was honest, organized, and incredibly efficient which made the deal happen very quickly. We never once felt pressure of any kind and it was so greatly appreciated . Though our encounter with Rapid Realty was brief, it was tremendously positive and gratifying!

Liars and cheats. Inexperienced agents, ready at all times to lie straight into your face to make a commission. Not much to talk about here - Googling "Rapid Realty" will do, be sure to do your research before giving your business to this business. No brokers here, only inexperienced people tricked into working for a company that also runs a real estate licensing school.

Be warned that some agents with this company may jerk you around. I contacted agent Melissa Dixon about moving into an apartment within a month. I had a big job opportunity coming up shortly after that date. I had my own list of apartments to look at but she assured me that she knew about an apartment that was a sure thing and that I shouldn?t work with anyone else. Evidently the promised apartment went to someone else because they could move in sooner. I could have moved in sooner too! But she didn?t call me until days later after many calls and texts from me. Then she said she?d call me with another apartment the next day. Five days and many unanswered calls from me later she admits that she has nothing for me. Now I?m in the embarrassing position of telling my employer that I can?t make it (I?m from out of state). To add insult to injury she called me a bunch of names when I called her out in a pretty reasonable way.

I am new to NYC. I just recently moved down here from Rochester, NY and was stressed out to say the least on finding a suitable home to live in. I dealt with a couple of realtors while I was still in Rochester and from the start, I was not feeling very good about the lack of communication and "suggestions" they were giving me.
I then looked on the internet and saw a bunch of good reviews on Chris Horner. (When I first called him I joked and told him he must of had a bunch of his friends put all those positive comments up) until he called me and I realized everything that was being said on here was true. He told me exactly what he was going to do for me and delivered! I gave him a list of criteria I was looking for and he went to work! Within an hour he was sending me links and following up with pro's and con's for certain areas. It was very difficult locking down a place living way up in Rochester, so I drove to NYC. I sent Chris a text and said I was here and the next morning we were driving around looking at places. He was able to hook me up with a beautiful brownstone in Brooklyn and the landlords are awesome! (They are actually human too!!) I told him I wanted the place, we went back to the office and filled out the paperwork and I put down a deposit. Saturday morning I am moving into my new home and I couldn't be happier with the service I received from Chris. If anyone is looking for a new place to live, I STRONGLY suggest you give Chris a call. Thank you Chris for a job well done. I apologize for writing such a long review, but you deserve every bit of it.

I've always been a bit hesitant, if not incredibly weary when it comes to searching for a perfect 'home, sweet home' in the catacombs of the Big Apple. After a few run-ins that left me in situations dealing with bad apartment conditions + jaded landlords and tip toeing on eggshells around roommates, apartment hunting has left a sour taste in my mouth. Chris Horner helped my anxieties that were taxing me away. He found an incredibly spacious place with my desires and at my price range. Being honest, I was initially unsure of the apartment. Rather than bully me into taking the spot, he took me back the next day and walked me around the neighborhood whilst giving me the pros and cons of the place to aid me in my decision. Whether or not I was going to take the apartment, his approach and knowledge made me feel assured that I was making the right choice. (I did take the apartment!) I?d recommend Chris to all my friends and family because he is a wonderful representation of great customer service: He is an active listener of your needs and concerns, has great research skills and does his homework before meeting/during your meeting, and does not corner you into making an abrupt decision fueled by his own personal agendas. Professionalism at its best! Thanks Rapid! Thanks Chris!

Looking for apartments couldn't have been more pleasant for me with the help of Chris Horner. My friend and I, had spent a few days or so looking at apartments in the Brooklyn area. Every place we were brought to by a Realtor seemed to bring disappointment. Ready to give up for the day, we thought we would give it one more shot, which is when we walked in to Rapid Realty. Chris didn't waste his time or ours, by showing us places we both knew did not meet are standards. We gave him a rough idea of our price range, and our expectations for the apartment. I was not expecting much because of our prior encounters with Realtor's all over Brooklyn. The next day we met up, and to my surprise, the third place we walked in to we fell in love with. I could not be happier with my experience with Rapid Realty. Thanks Chris!

Chris Horner really saved the day for me! He was not the typical "broker" just trying to force a place on a customer, he listened intently to what I wanted and went out of his way to show me places that matched my criteria and price. If I didnt like a place... that was that and on to the next. Overall his customer service is what won me over...yes the office is a little disorganized, but its bearable when you find the right apartment.
