I tried this place because i had one of those "daily deal" vouchers. I absolutely did not waste my money on this one! I went just before the evening crowd would have been filing in. The staff was ridiculously friendly. The owner even came out to welcome me and tell me about specials, upcoming shows and such. While I waited for my order I snacked on these spicy peanuts in a shell (wow; how did they do that?). After a short wait they brought my food which was FREAKIN' FANTASTIC! All of my out of town comany will be eating here.
Atlanta has many great culinary & social attractions, but one of the upcoming, great hidden treasures is Hotte Hawg's! From the dazzling staff to the out-of-this world food, it is definitely the place you want to be. If you're not in the neighborhood, then the drive is absolutely worth your time. The food is literally amazing, and Kyle, Kerry, Toni, and the rest of the staff give the bar a real "Cheers" type of vibe. They really make you feel comfortable, like you belong there.
For a quick bite, nice meal, or just a drink with good friends, Hottie Hawg's is hands down your destination of choice. Add in the great live music, you've got a real goldmine of top-notch entertainment and extraordinary cuisine. If you haven't, then you MUST...experience all that Hottie Hawg's has to offer. See ya there!
I live in Riverside, the neighorhood that Hottie Hawgs is located and the neighborhood was thrilled when it opened and we haven't been disappointed.
First the food, there is not a bad thing on the menu. From the brisket to the veggie burger, you can feel that everything is made with sense of southern bbq pride with a twist. Ask any of the guys about the food and they are thrilled to tell you how they came up with each item. My personal favorite is the BBQ Pork, Brisket & Chicken Street Tacos.
Next the people, everyone and I mean everyone, are there to have a great time and enjoy themselves. From the owner, managers, bartenders and waitresses to the guys in the kitchen, they all want everyone there to have a good time. It's hard not to have a great time with the owner Kyle pouring shots and the beautiful girls dancing on the bar!
Last but not least the live music, they have some of the best blues and rockabilly bands playing every Thursday & Saturday nights!
One thing I forgot to mention, a Hawgarita is must! but be careful, this not your typical margarita. It is best describe as a tasty bottle of booze with ice and a straw!
I don't know who hires the talent there but keep it up, and the food ain't bad either.
Bottomless bloody mary brunch is alright, everyday menu is different from what Georgians might be used to, but, it's better than a lot of chain BBQ restaurants
Our first experience of Hottie Hawgs was their New Year's Eve party. We didn't know it was a prix fixe thing, nor that the courses were pretty much all high-quality gourmet BBQ meats. That didn't stop them from not only making us right at home (and feeling like honored guests), but they also made special dishes just for us to eat so that we would get our money's worth. Boy, did we - we left that night smiling, carrying home a gift, and full as ticks of wonderful, original food and warmth from the good company and true southern hospitality.
That pretty much sums up the type of people, food, and service you can expect. They always greet us with a smile - sometimes a hug or two - kind words, and amazing food.
Fare-wise, these guys don't just do the obligatory garden burger - they make an amazing black bean burger from scratch (with an always fresh kaiser roll, onion strings lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli) - top it off with a little of their homemade BBQ sauce, and you will be in Hawg heaven. Their fries are crisp, and seasoned with a flavorful combo I have yet to figure out (but they should be illegal, because they are seriously ADDICTIVE). Their fried okra is awesome - whole okra, lightly breaded, crispy, and NOT greasy. Their battered/fried bottlecap pickles are a nice treat as well (and sprinkled with fried jalapenos for the brave). A good offering of salads, slaw, (both always fresh) etc round out their vegan options.
BUT - one of their most awesome veg offerings by far is their tempura mac and cheese balls. Home made shells and cheese, flecked with (just enough, but not too many) jalapeno pieces, then tempura breaded and fried - it's the one sinful splurge for this mostly vegan family.
Vegetarian-wise, their fare also includes a grilled cheese with tomato sandwich that is positively brimming with a smoldering cheese combo and huge slices of fresh tomato.
There are more offerings, but the options above are so good that we're loathe to forsake them for anything else on the menu.
The drinks are always tall, and the night is always warm when we venture out to Hottie Hawgs - and it's affordable, so we go weekly.
I stumbled on Hottie Hawgs a few months while working in the Riverside area. It was love at first bite.
I have come in almost as many times as I have fingers since and the food and atmosphere keep evolving.
The service has become much friendlier with each visit. The rubs they use on their meats are some of the best I have tasted anywhere.
They recently changed up the cut of potato they use , this recent change is good, but I preferred the wedges.
The presentation of the food has a gourmet appeal, and the drinks are always yummy.
Great place to go for delicious Texas barbecue with a unique twist. We had Brisket Shepherds Pie which was one of their St Patricks day special and OMG it was delicious. I also love their Stewy Mac which is a combination of Brunswick Stew and Macaroni and Cheese. Delicious. Wings are great too. I like DSB dry rub. Yum.
Besides the food it is a very fun and relaxed place to hang out. It has more of a party vibe than a bar or restaurant. Like you are friends with the whole place. Check it out!
Hottie Hawgs BBQ is a great place for pulled pork, brisket, and they have great wings! Not slimy wings, but crispy and dry rubbed.
They have a full bar, and both draft and bottled beer. Very fun place, you don't even have to like BBQ to have fun there! Lots of friendly, easy going staff, never had a bad time. Plenty of big screens to check out the game.
This place is delicious. It's a cozy local gem with a very laid back atmosphere. The food is delicious - try the dry rubbed chicken wings and brisket. Hands down best in town!
Hottie Hawgs is a definite must for any BBQ lover out there. I've gone multiple times and have never been disappointed.
My absolute fav is the DSB Dry Rub Wings, so freaking good and so different from the generic flavored wings you get anywhere else.
The pulled pork and chicken are both fantastic and if you like spicy make sure you ask for the Maple Habanero sauce.
I've also had the street taco's, ribs and the burger...all really good.
They've seem to always have beer specials and the HawgARita, good God, that thing is glorious.
They have live music, trivia and a bunch of flat screens for sports...they promote the Sunday ticket for NFL too but i've never been there for a game.
I'm not giving them a full 5 stars because I think the service could definitely get better. Lot's of inconsistency with the service but nothing absolutely terrible.
In the end, I think if you are a fan of ATL barbecue this spot has to go on your list!
Hottie Hawgs is an incredible BBQ joint - don't expect shlock food here - it's creative and delish! Amazing owner and staff, great patio, quality live music, cute dancing girls :)...
The most popular spot in Riverside and well deserved!
Okay, this place is FABULOUS!
The best pulled chicken sandwich I will likely ever eat. And the DSB wings, fuggedaboutit!
They have great specials too.
I love hitting Hawgs for some sports, beer, and some of the best BBQ in town.
The live music and wait staff are great if you're into that kind of thing, it's not really that important to me as long as the food is good and the beer is cold, and on those two counts Hottie Hawgs delivers.
Hottie Hawg's BBQ surpassed all of my initial expectations!! Don't let this casual environment fool you. Chef Matthew's creations are a culinary dream! Not to mention that he has toured with some of the most recognizable musicians from around the world catering their concert and events, including Elton John. The staff and owner Kyle Vaughn will make a point to make you feel right at home from the very moment you enter "Hawg Heaven". You've gotta try thier "Armadillo Eggs", which consists of beef brisket, cheese and other secret ingredients that are stuffed into a jalapeno and fried til golden brown!! If BBQ isn't your think then their Shrimp and Grits will be! Yum!! I found out as I was leaving that they also serve brunch on Sat & Sun...$3 Bloody Mary's!!! Perfection!!!!
