There is always something to do here no matter the season. They have guided tours, you can view the grounds after, there is a gift shop on site. Beautiful place. I suggest going there in the spring and then again in the winter. It is a little pricey for the tours, but so worth it to see all there is to see here.

There is always something going on here.
In the spring they have their garden show and all the flowers that grow there are just beautiful.
You know spring is here when you see all the beautiful colors and kinds.
they host wine tasting, the Ohio Mart,Shakesphere festival and more.
A great place for banquets and the food is delicious.

PROS: A beautiful place to see and lots of events
CONS: Expensive

Beautiful place tucked into the middle of Akron. The people that work here seem snotty most of the time - but what can you do? The price for admission is average, definitely worth it. During the holidays you can drive through and look at all their lights - that is definitely the best time!

When we visited Stan Hywet, we took the Nooks and Crannies tour. It was very informative, and we learned a lot about the Seiberling family - as well as the history of Stan Hywet. Customer service is okay, nothing spectacular. Lots of parking, but hard to find where to pull into.

Stan Hywet is a hidden little gem of Akron. Beautiful grounds, and is very pleasant to view no matter the time of year. The facilities they provide for weddings are generally better than the average location.

I went on a tour here thinking it would be incredibly boring, and ended up being pleasantly surprised. The home itself is absolutely beautiful and so historical, and the tours give great insight into its past. The highlight for me, though, was when we were able to walk the grounds of the house. The gardens are amazing and so beautiful. You are able to take pictures outside, and i was able to get some great shots. It's also very romantic to walk hand in hand with someone along the garden paths. This tour took the good part of the day. Also, there is usually a coupon for admission in the local Entertainment book to help with the cost (which wasn't terrible).

A historic mansion that was tastefully decorated for the holidays. The Mansion will defiantly inspire your education and imagination on what it must of been like for the families who lived in that time period. The only problem we have encountered was the rudeness of one event staff. I have visited other sites like this in my travels and never have been treated so badly. I sure hope that the individual who made our visit uncomfortable does not repeat this behavior with other guest.

I've loved Stan Hewett ever since I moved to Ohio more than 10 years ago. They have a Japanese Garden.
AA started there. No kidding, Bob and Bill met at the Gate House on these grounds. The mansion is
gorgeous and decorated especially nice for the holidays. A different theme each year.
There is an old stone quarry which provides the wonderful rock work on the land, and exquisite
gardens. A super gift shop and great spot to eat lunch, etc. Food is wonderful. I've seen Shakespearean
plays here, they have an Antique Car show every Father's Day, and many other wonderful events. You can
go through the grounds only, or the house and grounds. Its definitely worth the cost of admission.
I've attended a wedding there and the settings for photos are beyond belief. Archways, gorgeous
backdrops, tree lined lane, etc. etc.
If you have an hour or a day...make it a point to go here.
It is also historic. The people who founded it were in the rubber business and hosted Presidents
and dignitaries from around the world.
I particularly loved the tour of the kitchen.
They sell plants in the greenhouse and the butterfly section is a wonderful new touch. Its
incredible to have them fly around you and land on you....not as big as the one in Niagara Falls,
but very nice.

Pros: Its simply gorgeous. I visit fabulous homes and gardens whereever I travel. AAA+++

Cons: Gardens cover many acres. I don't think there is much help for handicapped or elderly.
