Its sad to see one of my favorite restaurants drop so dramatically. In the 15 years I've been their customer, English has always been a challenge, but that's what gave Pico de Gallo its charm. It wasn't a riverwalk tourist trap. It was an authentic mex-mex (not tex-mex) place.

This week I attempted to arrange a party of 20+ guests, and at the last minute was informed that a 'deposit' of $3 per guest would be required. OK, no big deal. But they weren't asking for a deposit to hold the reservation, they were asking for a surcharge of $3 per guest just for the privilege of showing up. This seemed very odd, so I asked for the general manager, Ramon, to call me. My call was not returned. I called the next day, and my call was not returned. Ditto the third day.

Lacking all confidence, I did not hold the party, but did stop by the restaurant. Unlike in years gone by, the dining room was empty. I had a meal. It was OK, but far from the quality I've enjoyed in the past. I ordered a drink, and can safely say that it was one of the shortest, stingiest drinks I've ever had. When I ordered another shot, and asked that it be poured more fully, it was equally stingy. I switched to beer.

I guess I was in denial, and went for dinner when I shouldn't have, and ordered a second drink when the first was short.

As in the past, the mariachis were present, but now just standing around and playing nothing.

It's sad to see this institution die of neglect and indifference.

Pros: best mexican food

This restaurant is located near an area where significant numbers of homeless people congregate and live. Were approached twice between parking lot and restaurant. Restaurant posted large signs regarding towing and that they are not responsible for stolen items from car. After lunch with my vendors, I briefly left restaurant in one of the other contractor's car to visit a job site (we had 4 cars) When I returned the restaurant had towed my car. It appears that the restaurant spends more money monitoring and maintaining the parking lot than they do in preparing food or cleaning the bathroom. I guess that tells you where their priorities lie. No security to protect your car but plenty of eyes on the lookout for a towing/revenue opportunity. Anyway my recommendation is to avoid this restaurant.

Pros: None to Mention

Cons: Your car will be towed

Great Service! Friendly staff and good food for the price. Great margarita prices for the wide selection they offer. Highly recommend their lunch specials

I saw them tow this guys car. The tow service guy was hiding in the bushes laughing. I will never ever go there again. These people also own Mi Tiera, forget it. I am done with all of them. This is how they treat their patrons. I heard that they get kick-backs from the towing service. There are plenty of other places to eat in SA.

I went there to meet someone for lunch. They were not there yet so went across the street to find an ATM. Upon my return 5 minutes later to wait for my party, they towed my car. Don't go near there. They may tow your car regardless of whether you are eating there or not. Needles to say it is not worth the +$250 charge for towing which they could care less about.

I recommend this place for great food and service, we are stationed overseas and we go to this place as soon as we're in SA. Yum I recommend the enchilada plate, and try some of their desserts, and a margarita. Great Service I really must stress.

Pico De gallo is a great family restaurant. the food is good the marachi band is awesome. This is all well and fine if you are not a vegetarian. they do not offer a vegetarian option. they do have rice and cheese enchiladas. The refried beans however are cooked in pork and that is not mentioned on the menu

use to be good a couple of years back. chips we're crunchy not crispy.(too thick)sauce was watery and tasted like straight tomatoe sauce. long wait for the food, and not worth it. if the wait is long, the food should be hot. right? nothing just didn't taste authentic anymore. (tourist trap) this reveiw is from an hispanic not a gringo....you'll have better luck at a taqueria!! Thats real hispanic food! yeah i'm sure the've been open for ever but its the tourists that are keeping it open......

Not your most authentic mexican food, but it can pass. If you have out of town guest for business, then take them here. It's in the heart of downtown and has easy access to all the tourist spots of SA. But if you are entertaining family and friends that want really good food this isnt' the spot, plus it's kind of pricey.

This place is fantastic. I held my rehearsal dinner here and it was both wicked cheap and super yummy. I had a large crowd (30+) and a lot of out-of-towners unfamiliar with Mexican food and culture. I think they were more impressed with this dinner than with our actual wedding! The mariachis are great. In addition, the restaurant is great with a smaller group (have dined with groups of 6 - 12 several times in the past). Occasionally the service is spotty, but only when they are really really busy. \nIn particular, I love their steak options as well as the enchiladas and the sopapillas are to die for.

This is a wonderful place to throw a party as it has enough room for everyone. The prices are good and the food is great. It also has a bar. The atmosphere is also pleasent and friendly.

To start we couldn't get any service dispite the 15 waitors standing around doing nothing but avoiding eye contact. The men left ALL of the service to the two girls. We had to send our margaritas back, they tasted like floor cleaner. The next round was just as bad. When our food arrived we were surprised that the ""home made"" tortillas were so hard you could knocking sound on the table with them. My enchilada was rock hard and I couldn't cut it with my fork or knife. The one item that was soft was my cripy taco! The corn tortilla shell was soggy beyond belief. I was disgusted and embarassed that I brought my friend here. I will never eat there again, and I will tell everyone not to waste their money there. There are so many other great Mexican restauarants in SA.

Located just to the west of popular Market Square and Produce Row, Pico de Gallo bridges the gap between aunt Maude from Moline and savvy locals in tune with traditional Tex-Mex. It can rebound with the blare of mariachi trumpeters and is…
