I visited with a friend of mine and his wife, who is Chinese. Service was okay until the waitstaff found out, at which point we went up to half an hour with no service. I don't care how fancy your restaurant is, that kind of conduct is unacceptable. Do not support this racist establishment.

The restaurant's Kae Jang is the best I've ever tasted. As an avid fan of all things spicy, the raw crab is to die for an amazing.

The place has a nice interior.....that's about it. Far overpriced for the food, which is nothing special.

The place is clean on the inside, but that's it. The food is mediocre and service is OK. But the price for all of this? Not worth it, there are many other places in Los Angeles that are better.

If anyone wants to experience RACISM, this is the place that you have to visit!!!! The waitress put all the meat in and started to grill in 10 minutes everything was done. You will have to finish by then because there are many more customers waiting outside and they want more money come in. The waitress will keep checking if you are ready to leave and made us very very uncomfortable. No respect for customer. You will regret if you visit this restaurant and very expensive especially a lousy service like this! They will start to clean the table and you know they want you to leave! Very very impolite! Never experienced anything like this!

Great place to go with a group of people, especially if you've got clients in town. The food is really good here and the service was great. As usual, be prepared for the Korean BBQ smell on your clothing.

Probably the best Korean restaurant I've been to. I went there about a year ago for a friends birthday and we got a private room in the back. It was a pretty cool room and there was a stove built in to our table so we can watch the food cook in front of us. The restaurant looked pretty clean and did not have that nasty smell that other Korean restaurants have.
There was a button on the table that you can push to call the waitress over which my friends were having a little too much fun with. The waitress turned out to be really nice and brought us everything we asked for on time.
The prices were a little higher compared to other places but well worth it.

The VIP private room made me feel like an important business man on a meeting for the Korean mafia.
Chosun Galbee was a really cool place and I will definitely go back.

I recommend it for people who want a legit Korean BBQ.

This is the first of the fancy Korean restaurants decked out in concrete, steel, and modern design. The outdoor dining area is especially nice in the evening after a hot day. The food is not great but good. The service is fine with Korean ladies walking around in their traditional outfits. A good place for those who want an introduction to authentic Korean food in Koreatown.

You'll first see a well-lit, pristine, modern building with attractive landscaping and a valet parking service. No grafitti, trash or shopping carts here! Once you enter, you're greeted by several well-groomed staff members in suits and hanbok (Korean kimonos) -- you might even think you're in a hotel lobby. You're guided to your table and handed your menus -- try not to get overwhelmed with choices. I had the Yookgaejang (""spicy beef and scallion soup"") ; my friend had the Galbee Dolsot Bibimbab (""sizzling rice hotpot with prime ribs and vegetables"".) We were also given a variety of complimentary appetizers, ranging from pickled sprouts and kimchi to potato salad. Here's a quirk: they didn't have any authentic Korean beer on their menu, but they served me Kirin (Japanese) in a Hite (Korean) beer glass! A staff member stopped by our table every few minutes -- their service was incredibly attentive and polite. We were also given a complimentary cup of sujunggwa (a sweet drink made with persimmon, pine nuts, cinnamon, and ginger) for dessert. Given this great experience, I'll definitely come back again!

For me I don't think it's a fascinating place as other people said. Their menu are a bit pricey which people claim their meat quality are top notch but I disagree. Their marinate were not bad but average. They don't even have rice paper which I love. Only thing i think its beyond average for this place is the ambiance. The outside patio actually feel quite nice to hang out but their valet sucks so oh well just satisfactory star for this one.

honestly, i don't know what happened to this place. it used to be so much better! the meat quality got worse (or tougher) and i think they're starting to rely too much on their non-korean customers' unfamiliarity of korean cuisine nowadays to even realize to brush up on their act. the last couple of times i really wasn't impressed whereas i used to be consistently pleased every time i dined here, even though they're a bit pricey. i didn't mind paying so much before (for korean food) b/c the food (meaning the meat) was so good&soft. but now i'm not so thrilled about this place. i've started ordering non-bbq dishes from the menu and they're actually turning out to be a lot better than their bbq meats now. i'm hoping they improve...

This place serves the best quality dining experience within the Koreantown area.\r\nThe food, needless to say, is marvelous, especially because the beef are very good quality meat.\r\n\r\nMust trys: Beef tongue (sliced very thinly, dellicious!), Raw beef appetizer (mixed with chopped pears, giving a sweet taste to the dish, and the dish is iced so it's perfect for summer!), and of course, the Chosun Galbee.\r\n\r\nThe seafood is decent but if you are at Chosun, it's gotta be about the red meat more than anything

Honestly, I thought after reading the reviews of the restaurant ""I'll give it a try"". Well, it surprised me by being the single worst dining experience in my life. We got BACON that was about as fresh as the attitude from the staff. Really, this place is awful. The only redeming part of the evening was the soft mints in the lobby. And when I took 2 from the bowl the hostess gave me the stink eye. Its a good thing they have mouth wash in the bathroom cus I had an awful taste in my mouth when I finished.

Cons: Food, service, value, attitude, quality, taste

Food was okay but service was HORRIBLE! If anyone would like to experience racism, this is the place! If you don't speak the Korean languange the service is substandard and they don't pay any attention to you. The best piece of advice is to grab the plate of meat and cook it yourself, otherwise you may be eating CHAR-sun galbee. Oh and not to forget, it's pricey and parking is bad.

For anyone looking to get away from the all you can eat cheap meat trends in K-Town, I would recommend Cho Sun. Even when you strip away the cool atmosphere and the beautiful architecture, the quality of meats there is undeniable, which is the most important thing when you go to a BBQ restaurant anyway.

I usually read reviews when I want to go to a particular restuarant, and rarely has it backfired on me! But I must say this was one of the worst choices I had made. You may go there to praise the architecture of the restaurant or the waitresses in ethnic dress, or the ""coolness"" of the place, but certainly not for food or service. We were dumped with raw onions and mushrooms and meat on a 'barely warm' grill with no directions on how to cook and a bunch of bowls with usual Korean side dishes. Waitresses never returned to check on the meat. I was surprised how they expect everyone who visits there restuarant to know how the Galbi should be prepared. (and more importantly if I have to cook my own food..I can do it at my own kitchen or backyard right?wouldnt pay $30 an entree to do it in Olympic Boulevard) Meet turned out horrible. The soups were the worst beef broths I've ever had! Poor service! They don't even come to fill your glass with water the second time! And to end it go there for some passive smoke! Bad experience all together. wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I've been to a bunch of Korean BBQ places in the LA area and Cho Sun wins on every front. The food is fresh and the quality of the meat is much better than many other places. The outdoor garden helps prevent the BBQ smell for lingering for days. And the service is usually better than many other Korean places.

Cool decor. Clean environment. Servers cook the food for you on the table in front of you. Food is awesome! Great for groups. Place is loud but fun. Long wait on weekend night if you don't make reservations... or at least it has been every time I've been.

I've been to many Korean bbq places, and Chosun has got to be the best!!! The galbi meat is tender with just the right amount of flavor and the side dishes, kimchee, rice are very fresh. The mool nengmyun there is delicious too! Price is right for what you get, the place, ambience is very nice, clean, upscale, but still very comfortable to chat with your friends or eat with your family. The bathroom even has mouth rinse for you! I recommend this place to everyone, if you haven't tried it, you are missing out!

Chosun has the best Korean food in LA... Hands down. Not only is the ambience great (modern architecture) but the food is better quality than most other Ktown restaurants of comparable price. The galbi meat always satisfies. It's a great place to introduce your non-Korean friends to what Korean food should really tastes like.

Not a big fan of cooking my own food, but have to say Chosun Galbee must be one of the top spots. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and comfortable. There is a very decent number of small dishes that are accompaniments to the meal, and which are quickly replaced once they're finished. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. My only qualm is that if you eat outside, you are surrounded by way too many people smoking.

A great place to go with a large group, as long as everyone eats meat. Out of towners that we bring here are always impressed. Very modern, cool architecture. Try to vary what you order (some beef, some pork, some seafood) so you get a nice variety. And order some non-BBQ items, I love the seafood pancake. People sometimes complain that is place is expensive but if you go with a big group it's actually pretty reasonable and everyone gets plenty to eat. Order a Hite beer, they're great!

We love Chosun Galbi -- whenever we have out-of-town visitors this is a must. From dinners with a few friends to larger parties in private rooms, we've found this a terrific location for entertaining, and a great introduction to Korean food. Service may be a little hasty at times, but generally the waitstaff is attentive and helpful, and the food is always delicious. The seafood pancake is a real stand-out, but everything we've had has been fantastic -- you really can't go wrong here.

I've been here several times, and have noticed that the quality of the service just goes down each time I visit. The last time I went was the clincher, though. Usually service is nonexistent in Korean places, but this time there were about 4 different overattentive girls coming by to flip the meat (that you cook on a grill in the center of the table), they completely rush you and cook the meat horribly. I like to take my time, but they just wanted to dump all the meat out at once and didn't wait for the grill to get hot. basically they ruined the meal. I wouldn't normally complain but if you're paying 30$ for each order of galbi the service should be impeccable. it was completely annoying. i'm never going back there again.

i remember chosun while it was still on western before it moved to its new location just a block west...it was like many other korean bbq places - big, smokey, extremely crowded, loud and with unescapable proletariat feel (albeit being pricey). then they moved to the new location with completely new look (quite chic and well designed), but its still like many other korean bbq restaurants minus being smokey and looking proletariat - still very crowded and pricey. but with a great service. i think it's a good gateway restaurant to introduce non-koreans to korean bbq. they a huge outdoor sitting area which is very nice on a cool summer nights

This is one of the best korean bbq places i've been to in LA. Definitely a good place for groups. It's a little pricey - but the restaurant is nice and comfortable - something that's rare for genuine k-town bbq. Good ventilation system too! I've left this place not smelling too bad.

If you need to bring first-time Korean bbq eaters to somewhere in K-town, I would definitely recommend this place. The environment is nicer and the waitstaff is very attentive. Food is plentiful although the bbq dishes are pricey. One great thing is that the restaurant is very large so the bbq smoke doesn't stick as heavily to your clothes.

I really liked this place. Unlike most smoky Korean Barbecue spots, this one has a really nice outdoor patio. It's fun for either lunch or dinner, and the waitresses help you to figure out how to cook everything if you're not sure. I really like the bulgoki we had here. There's a limited drink menu, with different sakes, beers and soju.

This is an upscale Korean restaurant near the intersection of Western and Olympic. They offer barbecue as well as a variety of other Korean dishes. As Korean restaurants go it is relatively expensive. Entrees run around $15-$20 a plate, with a few cheaper things, and a few more expensive things. The barbecue dishes we tried were all very good, the ingredients were top-notch, the marinate for the barbecue was great, and so forth, thus the higher price was justified. There were a variety of other very interesting looking dishes on the menu, including raw beef. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, it should win a prize for interior decoration. This seems to be a popular place. We arrived at 6pm and were seated quickly, but by 7pm there was a huge crowd of trendy-looking types in the lobby waiting to be seated.

Despite being among the more pricey joints, I would have to say that chosun galbi is well worth the extra money. The banchan is always interesting and the quality of the galbi is a notch above the rest. I have never been disappointed. The only drawback is the crowds of people amd long wait on the weekend. For the more brave of heart, I would recommend the spicy fish stew - yum\n

Chosun galbi is an interesting place -- I know some people who love it and many who revile it. It's all about value equation. It is probably 2-3x what a hole in the wall would charge for nearly the same quality food. If dropping $30-40 per head at a very good quality Korean BBQ is cool then it's fine. If that thought horrifies you I suggest you look elsewhere.

Pros: good quality meat, nice setting , banchan selection

Cons: expensive, often raucous, service spotty

Chosun Galbi is not dramatically different from any of the Korean restaurants found in LA's Korea Town, except for its setting and design. Providing a huge outdoor eating area (even in the winter), Chosun separates itself from the rest of the pack. The BBQ dishes are wonderful as is the Bim Bim Bop. If you have run into spotty service at other Korean restaurants, you will be pleasantly surprised by the excellent service at Chosun.
