We had Joe Bateman and Kevin to our house . Both were very professional and arrived at the designated time. They explained everything they were going to do as well as gave the price upfront. Very happy I called Randy's. I had a couple unreliable company's cancel on me before. The Randy's Electric magnet has a permanent home on the fridge.

Thank you to Sean and Randy's Electric for: returning our phone message, showing up on time and completing the work needed in a professional and courteous manner. Sean did a great job explaining the issues and answering all our questions. He also pointed out an issue I had forgotten about and took care of it, making me feel safer in our rental home.

Dale installed an extra outlet in our kitchen last summer. He did a great job. He was very neat and took care to clean up after he was done. He is also just a very nice guy. When i got home, Dale and my husband were chatting like they were old friends. I'd definitely hire him again.

I was not home when Dave came, but my wife said he was excellent. Very nice, curtious, and explained everything well. He found a few small extra problems and fixed them for free. I took away 1 star as I felt it was pretty expensive, $877 for about 3.5 hours of work, with not very many parts. If budget isn't an issue I would use them again.

Dale was fantastic - he immediately understood what had to be done and the work was completed in an hour. He also advised on other work that we'll need to get done over the next year to overcome what the previous homeowner did. THANKS!

I just had a ceiling fan installed in my bedroom. I couldn't be more pleased - perfect installation by experienced, professional electricians - Sean and Joel. They overcame many difficulties to get this done. I would recommend Randy's Electric to anyone.

Dave was very professional and courteous. He recommended replacing some smoke alarms that were probably over 15 years old and was able to take care of that in addition to replacing a kitchen light fixture. Very happy with the work performed.

Customer service from start to finish was A++! From the person taking my appointment, to the confirmation email, to the reminder call and service visit, the professionalism was superb. Joe, our service provider, was on time, friendly, efficient, clean, and knew his stuff. He even checked our smoke detector unprompted and was able to upgrade our outdated unit on the spot. We were able to address all of our concerns and knew what we would be paying up front. We were also impressed with the marketing channels: the use of the website, social media platforms, QR code, magnet and flashlight pen all show innovation that is unusual for a small business like Randy's Electric. My ONLY negative reaction was to the mention of/promotional material presented at the very end of the visit stating that Randy's is a faith based business and Ask Me About My Faith. I respect everyone's right to practice their faith and understand that some have a need to express that faith in ALL aspects of their life- even through a private business that provides a service to the public. However, I did not at all appreciate having that faith suddenly foisted upon me during a service visit to my home. That said, the faith issue was not extensively intrusive and it apparently hasn't hurt their business model. I would definitely use Randy's again and recommend them to others!

I had a great experience with Randy's Electric. I did have a coupon for diagnosing and repairing one electrical problem. Even though the actual cost might be considered expensive, I think it would be well worth the price. My technician was professional, did high-quality work, and answered all of my concerns. It was definitely one of the best service experiences I have had. I will be using Randy's Electric for future electrical needs.

Randy's Electric is responsive and professional. They are not the cheapest but if you want cheap, remember that you get what you pay for. Randy's gets the job done right and done efficiently. You don't have to worry about city codes or permits, they take care of that for you. Randy and Cindy are great. And their team of electricians are very skilled and professional. I will call them anytime. When we needed our electrical upgraded at a ental property, they helped us. When we needed our mast replaced and power restored after a recent storm, they helped us in a bind. We highly recommend Randy's.

Do not call Randys Electric or you will pay WAY more then you would if you called a legitimate Electrician. I thought rather then post my own story I would just post some other peoples experiences from Angie's List and there are hundreds more. I will continue to paste these out here in the weeks and months ahead. These are actual quotes by actual customers:

Description Of Work:
All they did is move an electrical box! I had a $99 Angies List coupon which I thought would be more than enough. It took them only about 30 minutes to do the work, which is a simple electrical task. Their hourly rate would be around $500/hour!!!
Member Comments: The work went fine. The charge was exhorbinate.

Description Of Work:
I had a floodlight installed on my garage. They were 3 hours late. I was charged $300 for 10 minutes worth of work. The flood light sagged. After I inspected it further the screw had be stripped and I had to correct the problem myself. They didn't waterproof around the junction box that was installed so I also have to do that myself so that when it rains my garage doesn't burn down.

Description Of Work:
Replace bad circuit breaker.
Member Comments:
$255 invoice for 20 minutes of work and a $5 breaker.
Electrician, then hands out religious scripture upon completion of job?WHAT GALL !!!

Member Comments:
Which means I paid $206 in labor for 20 minutes of work, which works out to $618 PER HOUR. If I were Randy, I wouldn't want to break my prices down into parts and labor either, because the implied labor rate is absurd. It wasn't a total loss - at least I have eliminated Randy's Electric from any future work on my home.

Member Comments:
I'm new to the twin cities so I don't know if this is standard but Randy's does not charge by the hour. It's by the item. In our case moving the kitchen exhaust fan cost $357, add to that a $49 service charge, a $7.75 fuel charge for a grand total of $213.75. That's right, $213.75 was what it cost for a small uncomplicated job that took about 1 hour.

Member Comments:
Unfortunately, the quote was crazy overpriced. $1100 for the job. WOW. There was also a $49 service fee, which was never disclosed when I scheduled. I couldn't afford the work. They snatched up my $69 and I ended up with wasted hours of picking up lighting/waiting at home. I will be asking for my money back. Very disappointed in this entire situation. I will not be using Randy's or referring them to anyone.

Member Comments:
The company charged us $254.75 to change a light bulb!!!!!

Member Comments:
The technician arrived on time and then proceeded to show me some laminated sheet with his charges to do this work...it said one thing like $239 to install an outlet.

Member Comments:
When he was leaving he explained they were a Christian company and gave me a religious tract. Here is the problem - after he left I looked up the light fixture he provided and it retailed for under $30 and I was charged $239 for it. My fault for not checking right away, but an 800% markup is not acceptable business practice.

Description Of Work:
Replaced two exterior lighting fixtures.
Member Comments:
The cost was more than I anticipated, even with the Angie's List Big Deal;l I would have shopped around more if I had known what their rates were, The electrician was nice enough and seemed to do good work. However, at the end, I didn't appreciate his pitch about being a "faith based company."

Member Comments:
It wound up costing about $600 more, which I thought was too high. I think if I'd done 3 separate visits, it could have cost that much, but it was all in 1 trip which I felt was over priced. I also didn't like how much proselytizing they did.

Member Comments:
Less then one hour later and $456 lighter in the wallet he was done. The price to do this work was over the top.

Member Comments:
They made sure to tell me they were a Christian based business and liked to pray for the people whose homes they were in.They asked if I was a Christian and I told them I was not. Before they left, they asked if I would like them to pray for me.I found this very offensive and inappropriate for a business relationship.

I also had a bad experience. I was quoted a price for a simple hour and a half project at $449. I called another electrician and he did it for $85 total. What a ripe-off these guys were.

Do not use. Four times as expensive as a regular electrician. He charged $160 to change one outlet (10 minutes of work). Don't fall for $49 to come out. They know once you have paid that, they got you. It doesn't go towards final price as was told on the phone. Also, lied about completing the work in one day. Do yourself a favor and PICK SOMEONE ELSE!

Randys electric sent out an electrician to our home to install a couple of pre-existing lights and a couple of outlets. They say their pricing is "up front" but you don't find out what the project costs until the electrician gets to your home which costs you $50 right out of the gate. So the electrician arrived and produced this "pricing list." He has a look at what we want done and quotes us a price of $750 which I thought was outrageous. However my wife said to just sign it as we can't send him away now that he's here. So we signed it but I couldn't help feeling like we were getting way ripped off. So ten minutes later I told the electrician to stop and abandon the project. The guy was a little strange so I wasn't sure if how he was going to respond to this but he almost seemed used to it. However he told me he couldn't stop now that he had started and if he did it would cost us $350 because he had to perform a diagnostic. Now I dont know what a diagnostic is but apparently they can be performed in under 15 minutes with no visible sign of any work being done. So I told him that was way out of line and offered to pay for his service call but that was it. So he called Randy and told him he had performed a diagnostic and now I want him to quit the job. So he puts me on the phone with Randy and I told him the cost was to high and I wanted to hire another company. So Randy tells me thats fine but he will still have to charge me the $350. It was a bizarre situation as I now have this guy who looks pretty tightly wound standing there telling me he wont leave without a $350 check for doing nothing and Randy telling me he wont go down on his price. So then Randy offers me a payment plan which I unfortunately agreed to. The electrician was done with the whole project in 2 hours which equates to $375 dollars/hour. So based on the situation and the simplicity of the job, I again asked Randy to reconsider his price and come down a little. Randy told me no, you signed the paperwork. He said the only way hed come down on his price was if I agreed to give him a positive review online, otherwise he was sending me to collections. Thats apparently how he gets his positive reviews. Heres what he wrote to me: If you will give us a good review somewhere online and pay in full within a week, I will reduce the bill by $100-.I will not be responding to any more emails, company policy requires that if you dont pay we send it to collections. I hope you choose to send us a check!

That is the true Randy speaking there. He also tried to justify the high cost because his electricians wear shoe protectors, are drug tested and he offers the up front pricing and a warranty. So I asked Randy to see the pricing list his electrician quoted the prices from but he will not provide it. I asked Randy what a diagnostic is, why it was needed and how long it generally takes but he will not tell me. The only thing I saw the guy do was stick a little light thing in an outlet, it turned red and that was it. Thats apparently what cost me $299 dollars. I also asked Randy to provide proof that his employees are drug tested since he uses that as a selling point. He told me Id have to take him to court if I wanted proof of that. So if youre going to use Randys make sure you know youre going to be spending a lot more for services that really dont materialize into anything but fluff. Also make sure he sends you the price list BEFORE his electrician shows up because once you sign that paperwork youre done. Every other electric company Ive talked to offers the same type of warranty that Randy offers so dont let him tell you his is unique. Oh and his electrician also told me that they are a high end company and theyre not cheap charlies. If that had been posted on his website I certainly would not have called them. The only thing Randy does differently is charge outrageous prices. By the way Randy had a bunch of negative reviews up on Dex yesterday and today theyre all gone. Nice work Randy but this is long term. Im stuck and I have to pay you but I will do everything I can to warn people about how you do business!

The technician just left my house I cannot help myself to think that I have been ripped off. There is a $50 fee just to get to your house which I thought would be ok to pay IF they were indeed an "affordable company" as their ads and website says. THe $50 fee ends up being $57, by the way, because they charge you a "fuel surcharge" of $7. Randy's is a few miles down the road from me!! I lost power in some outlets at my basement. The guy says that it is a single circuit diagnosis that he would do for which would cost me $199 dollars "today". I asked the guy: ok, so if it takes you one minute to fix it it is $199 but if it takes you 4 hours it is the same price? The answer: "yes".By the way, note the word "diagnosis". He said "if it is something easy I will fix it myself but if it's something more serious we will have to set a repair". WHICH IS NOT A PART OF A DIAGNOSIS! Add some moola to the equation. I don't know a thing about electric work but what I do know is a ton about marketing and sales. Randy's has it all wrong. First of all, their marketing communications is everythig but integrated. They tell you they are affordable and then they charge you for fuel and flat fees that are outrageous (disconnect). They tell you that their customer service is unmatched and the technician is grumpy and comes with a wrinkly and dirty shirt on (disconnect). Their pricing structure is all but market fair. They will charge you $200 to diagnose a circuit no matter how long it takes them. As I said I don't know much about electricity but what I know is that there were 5 outlets, 3 wires (red, black, and white) and a breaker that could be possibly wrong. Really? $200 bucks to check that out? I have been really lucky with small licensed electricians so I recommend that if you know of one and you have the time to wait until he or she has an opening for you, forget about Randy's and their pricing scheme because you will OVERpay for it
