.

So last night my housemate was going to watch basketball & I thought it would be nice to bring some basketball-type food home. I saw a sign on the "JJ Fish" on Guess Rd. that announced a wing special for something like $7.99. Now, I'd never been in this place before as I'm not a fast-food kinda person & a veg, but I figured "what the heck, I'll try it" as it seemed very "basket-bally". Walking up to the door I was a little startled by a hand-written note on which was written "Restroom for CUSTOMERS only!!!" with big underlines -- and thought to myself "Well, that's kinda hostile" -- still though I went in (I can be rather dull at times) ... I asked the gentleman behind the counter for a suggestion and he told me the wings were good -- as I continued to look at the menu he was pretty impatient, which was weird as the place only had one couple in it and they were waiting for their order, but I hurried up to order anyway as his impatience made me feel like I should just get to it. So then I went to wait for the food by the pick-up counter and there was another big sign that told me not to wait there and I had to go sit down to wait -- apparently standing by the pick up window is some big offense ???
As my order was nearly ready, I noticed that he wasn't tossing the wings in any sauce & they looked really dry, so I looked around and saw some hot sauce in a plunger thing with some little cups by it & figured that maybe the wings were supposed to be dipped in that. Problem was, the little cups didn't have a lid & I had a to-go order so I looked around and saw by the cash register the little cups with lids so I thought it was like Firehouse Subs where you use the little to-go cups when carrying out. I walked over to get one and the impatient guy literally yelled at me -- which surprised the heck out of me. Then he angrily told me I could have it for 35 cents -- I declined and told him I wasn't comfortable giving any more money to a business where employees yell at their customers. He continued yelling and called me a "cheapskate" -- really --- and I explained that it wasn't the 35 cents, I just didn't want to give any more money to this business. Then this other guy steps in (not to admonish his employee about yelling at customers and losing business, but to explain to me about "food cost"). Again I told him I would have happily paid the 35 cents, but his employees behavior was so offensive I didn't intend on supporting the business in any way. Now this is the best part ... I'm walking out the door and the impatient, rude guy tells me to "Go f**k myself"
I honestly burst out laughing at that point because I was in this surreal moment where people/businesses like this actually exist. Oh, and for further irony, there was a cool article (by the counter you aren't supposed to stand by) about how classy coach K is -- still makes me chuckle.
So ... if you ever happen to find yourself at the JJ Fish on Guess Road --- warning: DON'T use the restroom, DON'T take time to look at the menu, DON'T stand by the counter, and be sure not to make a mistake like picking up a to-go cup that's right by the counter or you will end up being verbally abused.
Weird.
