In late October 2010 I signed a contract with The Home Depot to install leaf protection on my home gutter system - I ask and was assured that Home Depot only sold ONE type of leaf protection system and it would not touch my roof - a clip -on gutter guard. On 11/18/10 Alpha Gutters - a Home Depot subcontractor - came and installed a "NON Hone Depot" product that did go under my shingles. To do the installation Alpha Gutters, Inc, the installer, CUT my shingles of my roof without my knowledge or consent. This installation invalidated both my installation and manufacturer warranties. More importantly the cutting resulted in shortening the shingle overhang to an extent that it has degraded my roofing system - fascia boards and decking protection - and made my roof ineffective to protect my home from potential water damage.

I have been working since that time to attempt and resolve this issue - there have been more than 20 persons involved from The Home Depot, Sedgwick (The Home Depot's insurance company) and American Claims Services (Alpha Gutter's insurance company). Alpha Gutter's insurance company denied the claim stating that it was a "work product" of the installer. Basically the insurance company is saying that Alpha Gutter's was fully aware of what they were doing when installing the incorrect product and the installation the "incorrect" product which resulted in the permanent damage to my roofing system is not covered. In addition the workmanship of Alpha Gutters, Inc. was extremely poor. The cutting of my shingles was done with an razor knife by hand without any sort of marking line and resulted in a very curvy and uneven cut line. This poor quality installation also resulted in the tearing of shingles too.

Bottom line, I wish that Alpha Gutters, Inc. had never come to my home and performed any sort of work - as a subcontractor of The Home Depot or not. To date this issue is not resolve and neither The Home Depot or Alpha Gutters, Inc. have take any actions to make this matter right to my satisfaction.
