Jiffy Plumbing gets 5 stars for being the most knowledgeable group of plumbers and HVAC techs I've dealt with. And I've had to deal with more in the past few years than most people do in a lifetime.

The most recent, and convoluted, problem we encountered was related to a tankless water heater that we had installed in the spring of 2009. While it worked flawlessly during the warmer months, we started experiencing intermittent and inconsistent loss of hot water during the colder months. During the winter, trying to take a shower or bath resulted in the hot water cutting out after a few seconds. Over a period of time, we had a variety of technicians come to the house to investigate the problem, including plumbers, service techs from Washington Gas, and even the regional rep for the tankless water heater manufacturer.

While all were helpful and offered different possible causes and solutions, only Pete with Jiffy Plumbing was correct in his thorough assessment of the problem. Upon his first arrival, he calculated that the gas pipes in our (100 year old) house were too small in diameter to fully supply the tankless water heater AND the gas-fired boiler used to heat the house. While other plumbing companies had also recommended increasing the gas pipe diameter, the others had only recommended a partial solution, which in hindsight may not have solved the problem. In addition to upgrading all the gas pipes in the house, Pete discovered something that everyone else had overlooked: the gas meter was too small to adequately handle the gas requirements of the tankless water heater combined with the boiler; more specifically, the regulator on the gas meter needed to be opened in order to sufficiently provide the correct gas pressure to the house.

After scheduling a visit with a Washington Gas tech, the tech agreed with Jiffy Plumbing's assessment and increased the gas pressure at the gas meter regulator, finally eliminating the last bottleneck that had other plumbers and technicians baffled.

I will definitely be using Jiffy Plumbing again in the future, and I would highly recommend them!
