I often recommend you and tell folks that I've been coming to you for nearly 20 years. I wouldn't go here if I didn't think I was getting the best care for my dogs.

Dr. Ashford does a great job educating you which is a really nice aspect. He doesn't just go in and not give you the information. He explains everything and helps educate you on the health of your animals. He works in partnership with the pet owners and communicates well with the owners and the pets. Some vets just connect with the pets more than the owners and that is definitely not the case here.

I now live near by Town & Country and have several dogs I wanted to take there for basic care and any needs. I stopped by and spoke with staff about pricing and they said I would need to speak with a vet.? I found this to be surprising since it was basic care items; shots, teeth cleaning, check-up. So I called back later and waited... and waited...finally got the DVM on the phone - she then tells me to speak with the front desk!!??? Seems as if no -one there actually knows what is going on!! Called an old friend whom still works for the NCSU Vet school and told her my experience -she wasn't surprised! That Speaks Volumes......\n\nThe reviwer -Lorren1 must work there.

I recommend Town and Country to friends, family, and anyone new that moves into the neighborhood. In fact last summer my neighbor was having issues with there very elderly dog and he had dental issues. They tried another vet and were not very happy with the results so I sent them over to Town and Country. They ended up being very happy and pleased with the care that they received there.

I'm very pleased with the Vets and the care my dogs have gotten at T&C vets. I have been a client for over a decade. However, I would never use the boarding/grooming side of this operation. They are separately owned and operated. I had my old doberman boarded there for 2 nights years ago. I used a harness for him since sometimes he needed some support walking on the leash. When I picked him up the harness was chewed to bits (which they presented to me) because they had never taken it off in 2 days. I would never take another dog there, but am very happy with the vet care side.

I've been using T&C since 2001 and have always been very happy with the Vets. I recently had to let my 10yr old lab mix go due to canine cognitive disorder. Dr Ashford & Dr Groulx were both extremely helpful to me in making this difficult decision. When the time came, Dr Groulx could not have been more caring if he had been her own furry child. The entire staff is to be commended for their love of animals and I wouldn't take my other furry child anywhere else.

We have had some positive experiences with the kennel at Town & Country, although we recently had an unsatisfactory grooming experience. The owner, who is full of southern charm, worked to resolve my concerns to my satisfaction. My bad experience was with the grooming of our cocker spaniel. She received a very short shave (razor lines and skin showing) rather than the style we discussed. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, I got a shrug from the groomer and was told that's how she does the cut and that it would grow back. The groomer lacks the tact that I am accustomed to in the south. Having a comfortable relationship with our pet's groomer is important to us, so we will find a different groomer. The grounds are very nicely landscaped, however, there is a very bad odor outside the facility. I thought it was the grooming facility, but I have scents (pun intended) found out that the odor is from a neighboring business. The staff at the front desk is very friendly and seems to love animals. The inside of the facility is very clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend getting in touch with the owner if you have a bad experience because she does care about her business.\r\n

My dog was boarded there over the Christmas holiday. When I picked her up, they'd given her a bath. Initially, I thought that was strange, but nice. But when I got her home, I realized her tail was dropping straight down- it was completely limp. I thought it was broken, to be honest. She cringed every time I bent down to pet her for a full week. The vet said her tail wasn't broken, but it was bruised. When I went to T & C to talk with the owner, she said ""nothing happened."" In fact, she said that maybe my dog ""fell off her bed..."" The cots are (maybe) 6"" off the ground- and my dog didn't have a cot. I'll never know what happened, because my dog can't tell me. But I'll never take her there again.

I have called 4 times seeking to find out if the cot cover I ordered has come in. Here is the typical conversation: \r\n""Hello, Town and Country Kennel, can I help you?""\r\n""Hi, I'd like to find out if my cot cover I ordered is in. Can you help me?""\r\n""No, that woman isn't here.""\r\n""Well, can you find out if any cot covers have come in?""\r\n""I don't think they have."" \r\n""Well, is there any way for you to find out?""\r\n""The only one who has a number to the guy who makes the cot is gone.""\r\n""Oh. Well, what's his name?""\r\n""I don't know.""\r\n""Can you find out? Look, I've called 3x for this.""\r\n""Well, I don't know, and like I said, the only woman who knows is gone.""\r\n""So, you are saying to me that there's no way you can help me.""\r\n""Right. You'll need to call back.""\r\n""How about you leave a note for the woman to call me back?""\r\n""OK, that's a good idea. I'll have her call you. Have a nice day.""\r\n""Wait! Don't you need my name and number?""\r\n""Oh ok, give it to me""\r\n\r\nSo that was 4 months ago, and I have had several other phone calls like the one above. Still no cot cover. I wonder how the cot guy's Christmas was? I do not recommend this kennel at all! Laziness and unwillingness to help on the phone is a huge red flag.

Cons: you pay for it

Want to know more about the workings of this kennel, but they only offer tours from 10 - 12 Mon. - Fri. No exceptions - too bad if dog owners work during those hours and cannot get there during those hours. Not impressed with such inflexible rules. Makes me feel something is being hidden. Like day care for children, there should be a way to see the operation in business during any of their business hours. My dogs are like my children to me. I wouldn't drop them off sight unseen. At the minimum they could have one evening or Saturday tour a week for a group of people. Not accomodating in my opinion.

My dog has been going to the Doggie Daycare for quite some time now. As an extremely friendly, playful and well-socialized dog I felt doggie daycare would be a great option for exercise and play while I am at work. The fees are high compared to others in the area and have even risen since I first started taking her. Despite this, I continued to bring my dog there - the people are all pretty friendly and seem to genuinely love dogs...however, my dog has been injured there so many times I'm beginning to wonder if they are even watching the dogs. Not one time did anyone point out an injury to me. When ever I would question what had happened, no one could ever give me answer. In addition to the high daycare fees, I have spent 100's of dollars on vet care needed because of these injuries, including office visits, stitches and antibiotics to prevent infection of wounds (only once - after complaining, did they comp the vet fees). I understand that animals are just that, animals...and they play rough sometimes, but I can leave my dog in a field full of other dogs and walk away for free...I pay them to watch her and make sure she is in a safe environment. If at any time there was a reason why she should not be attending, they should have let me know. I feel their greatest concern is money, not the well-being of the beloved pets, who are like children to many of the people who bring them there. I will not be bringing my dog back to this place because of all of the incidents that have occured, the last a ""trauma wound"" on her neck that was so swollen she couldn't wear a collar for three days, but went unnoticed by staff. After all of these incidents, I would have to blame myself if something really serious happened. Maybe my situation is an isolated one, I hope so for the sake of the other dogs who go there.

watch out for hidden charges. do not give your credit card number unless the employee explains exactly what will be charged on your card. then get a second opinion from another employee to make sure the first employee has it correct. also, take down the name and time of the person you spoke with. the customer is always wrong. get ready for an attitude if you question anything.

I left my dog at Town and Country because I came in town for a family social event, and there would be no one at the house to care for him. I dropped him off on Saturday morning (because the kennel closes at 12 noon). The kennel staff advised me that they only opened for one hour for pick up on Sunday from 4 pm until 5 pm, so I was there at 4 pm sharply and picked up my dog. When I got ready to pay for my bill, I was given a total for two days. When I inquired about the balance, I was told, that I had to pay for Sunday as well. I couldn't understand why, because if I could have picked my dog up earlier that morning, I would have, but I couldn't becaue of their hours of pick up, so I relunctantly paid the balance owed. After leaving the kennel, I inspected my dogs belongings, and found a bag of dry dog food (that I had asked them to give him that Sunday morning ), was still in his bag. This led me to believe that no one comes in on Sunday mornings to feed the animals. I stopped down the road a little ways to let my dog out so that he could use the bathroom, (and because it had just stopped raining, there were puddles everywhere). My dog jumped out the car, and headed right for a rain puddle, and immediately started drinking from it!!! Of course I wouldn't let him, and waited until I arrived home to give him fresh water. He drank two full bowls of water when we arrived home!! I'm not sure if he was not given water, or had it, and refused to drink it. However, to close, I would have to say that my time at the social event the night before was a much better time than my dog had a the Town and Country kennel.
