I wouldn't count too much on BobL674's commentary (due to his hormones leading his opinion rather than quality service).

I have been a long term client for Dr. Wagner. When I first began going to Dr. Wagner's, everything was fine. He seemed like a nice guy with a quality practice.

The last couple of times I have visited haven't been so great. When I came in for my most recent eye exam everything was so rushed and when I had asked questions they seemed to be shrugged off. I have worked in the medical field before and I am not one of "those" clients that asks unreasonable and repetitive questions. I understand that being busy can cause somebody to get overwhelmed, but then you need to get additional staffing to provide quality service to your clients. My bill for the rushed exam was $95.

I also saw another woman attempting to ask some questions while in the waiting room to various staff members and she was brushed off as well.

Upon checkout, I was told since I was getting a free trial from a company, I would have a $30 credit for when I decided to purchase my contact lenses since some people are allergic to this type of lense. I wanted to purchase a six month supply but was told my $30 dollar credit wouldn't be honored. NOBODY had even mentioned there was an expiration date on my $30 credit or else of course, I would have stopped in sooner to purchase them!

I ended up stopping in to get a print out of my prescription and I got that sort of annoyed look from the receptionists, but I did get the printout quickly. I have never complained in my many loyal years as a client, it just seems to have gone downhill and more about money than the client.

By the way, my contacts were cheaper online. In this economy, I might as well go to Wal Mart for my eye exams, too.

Just returned from a great appointment with Dr. Wagner. Major thumbs up!

I'd ignore the few bad reviews below. I called around and these really are the best prices I could find. AND I thought the staff couldn't be more helpful (with some really hot girls too).

Avoid the business like the plague. They do not stand behind their merchandise, but rather try to blame problems on their suppliers and refer you back to them. After writing a letter directly to Dr. Wagner, a office person responded by telling me to contact my insurance even though the problem was with replacement lenses scratching because they did not put the protetive coating on that I paid for. The supplier also cut the lenses poorly which kept popping out of the frames so I had to use my added insurance to have the problem fixed. They also billed me for a contact fitting I told them I did not want. The place it a big rip off, and it is frustrating that their customer service is so poor.

I have been going to Dr. Wagner for the past two year's based off my husband's great experience. Dr. Wagner takes time with me to not only go through the general exam but also shows the inside of the my eye and talk about the actual health of the eye. He answers all of my questions to make sure I understand. I have never had an eye doctor take the time like he does. He also discovered that I do not have astigmatism and saved me a lot of money on my contacts. Recommend 100%!

I LOVE Dr. Wagner. I have been seeing him for 2 years now and couldn't be more happy and satisfied every time I walk out of the office. The staff greets you right away, takes your info (or gets it from their files if you are a repeat customer), does the preliminary exam, complete with the pics of your eyes, which is pretty cool. And then Dr. Wagner explains everything to you so that you have no more unanswered questions before you leave. He is professional, knows his stuff, funny, personable and very reassuring that he will use everything he can to get your sight better so you can get back to seeing again. Their turn around time for glasses to come back is fast, as well as contacts. And they always give "maintenance" if you stop in. Loose screw, lost nose paid, readjustments, etc. And they always give you a free set of contact lenses before leaving the appointment, which is cool. And when I lost a set or the ripped in the past they have given me a replacement pair if I stop in at not charge. I'm sorry that they other people have had such a bad experience, but I only have high praise for him and his staff. And I refer him to everyone I know who wears glasses! So far 3 have become new clients of his! Wish they gave out referral bonuses! Plus, Danny Goeke will be coming back as a spokesman in June 2012!

I went to Dr. Wagner's Optical because I had been needing glasses and found a groupon for $50, worth $180. It said the exam would be free and $150 would be applied to the cost of glasses. I picked out a nice frame, was given a prescription for bifocals and when told the price between line and no-line lenses I chose to go with the line because of $120 difference. I was charged $485 for my glasses, AFTER $150 was taken off for the groupon. When I got home my husband looked at the receipt and questioned whether they had applied the groupon. He searched for my frames and found them at several area businesses at less than 1/2 of what I paid. The MSRP on the frames is $250, not $500! I called back and asked about the groupon. I was told it was indeed applied. When I asked if it was customary to charge double the MSRP I was told they were a small, private business and charged what they had to to make money. I told her their website said all frames were 50% off with the purchase of lenses. She said only one discount could be applied. I said "Had you given me the choice of 50% off frames or a groupon discount, I certainly would have taken the 1/2 off!" She said it was my fault for not asking for that discount. So in essence, the groupon cost me $150 instead of saving me $130 as advertised. Had I received 50% off my frames, the total would have been $360. Instead, I ended up paying $550 counting what I paid for the groupon. When I said I was going to return the frames I was told they did not allow refunds, returns or exchanges once glasses had been picked up. This is a VERY unreputable business and I recommend going to Lens Crafters, Sears, Sams or any other place you can find rather than spending double the money here!

SO HELPFUL!!! The office was really nice, the doctor was beyond kind, the wait was short, and the care that I received was top-notch! Additionally, I noticed that some of the other reviews on here mentioned issues with the staff BUT I saw no such thing. The employees were nothing but full of good advice when helping me (and other customers) in finding glasses.

I got just what I had hoped for: Great care, great service, great glasses, contacts (for the first time!) and all of it for a very reasonable price (I did a bit of shopping around and found that they really do have the best prices out of anywhere in the area).

Basically, I would recommend this place to anyone I meet.

Well, what can I say; I have very mixed feelings about this place. When I first went in and delt with Dr. Wagner I was very happy, I felt that he was very friendly, professional, and did a great job answering all my questions. I left there feeling like I had found my new place for all my eye exams. Although Dr. Wagner did an excellent job in making me feel confident and comfortable I doubt I will be returning. When I went back to pick up my contacts there was a small misunderstanding about what I was supposed to be getting. The girl at the front desk was EXTREMLY RUDE, cut me off while I was trying to explain to her my problem, and even turned her back on me while I was talking and walked away! I was so insulted and offended by this very unprofessional behavior that I doubt I will be giving them a second chance. I am curious; does his rude staff realize that there are several other opticians right there in the mall? Sorry Dr. Wagner, you need to make sure that your staff is treating your customers as well as you are.

I've been coming to Dr. Wagner for years which resulted in an extremely unpleasant experience. I worked with Jennifer thoughout this process at least 5-6 times. Each time she would suggest "give it time" to adjust to my single vistion, then changed to bi-focal, then changed back to single. Which resulted in not being able to see clearly period. I then requested to try the bi-focals once again because I was told by other people with bi-focals that something must have been wrong that I could NOT see at all with them. I had them reorder the bi-focals and when they came in i was told it would be $240.00. because it was now past the 60 days. Jennifer never told me anything about "give it time" but do it within 60 days. so if i wanted to see clear again, i needed to pay 240.00 on top of the 300+ I have already spent. I then talked to Lizzy the office mgr. Absolutely NO managerial tactics in handling a customer that is NOT satisfied. NEVER once did she apologize for the misunderstanding Jennifer and I had with 60 days. NO way in this world did she suggest any kind of compromise. When I asked to speak to Dr. Wagner, she said he would call me back on Saturday after his last appt. It's now days later and NOT a call from him or anyone else in the office. Jennifer saw me walk in and NEVER once made any eye contact and acknowledge her customer was back, just simply ignored me. So between Jennifer the cold sales girl, Lizzy the worst manager skilled woman I've ever dealt with and Dr. Wagner NOT returning my call ever, YOU make the decision if this is the place for you. Its NOT for me ever again.

The place was full but someone asked to help me right away. The doc was awesome. Saw photos of the inside of my eye. I have never had that at any other eye doctor's office. I picked a beautiful frame with the help of a girl named Lizzy. It was a great deal. got my glasses after walking around the mall. I got a lot done and I got my glasses. I'll be back!

I've worn glasses all my life and have gotten them from almost everywhere in the Milwaukee area: Wisconsin Vision, Lenscrafters, D.O.C., Macy's Optical, Penney's Optical, Sears, Optix, etc. I am sticking with Dr. Wagner's from now on. Due to a neurological condition, I get my prescription from a neuro-opthamologist, but my daughter gets hers from Dr. Wagner. He is always very helpful and takes his time with her. It is easy to get an appointment, and he has evening hours, which means she doesn't have to miss school.

They take my vision insurance, but the staff always calculates which is cheaper: their current special or the discount my insurance offers. Sometimes it is one, and sometimes the other. Yes, they are often crowded, but I have never found the staff to be rude. If the one poster felt ignored, all he needed to do was ask for help. Perhaps they didn't notice him. It is not always easy for three staffers to help a multitude of customers in a busy optical practice and remember exactly who came in first. I have always seen them working hard, trying to help everyone in the store.

Dr. Wagner offers one-year insurance on glasses, which I always purchase for my daughter. I believe it costs less than $50 and covers loss and breakage for a small deductible for one year. I like this since kids often break and lose things.

They have an incredible selection of frames and are very helpful in assisting you in selecting yours. Unlike Lenscrafters, where they tell you everything looks fabulous on you because they just want to make a sale, the staff here seems to genuinely want you to walk out looking good. I probably tried on 80 pairs of frames, and the staff person never seemed rushed or irritated.

Most lenses are in stock, and my daughter's glasses are usually ready in an hour. My lenses are unusual, and so it generally takes 2-3 days for them to come in, which I don't mind.

I recommend Dr. Wagner's to everybody. This place is fabulous.

After reading some of the negative reviews posted here I felt I absolutely MUST write my own. We have been going to see Dr. Wagner for several years now and I rave about him everytime the words glasses or contacts come up in a conversation. Both my husband and I have been in glasses since we were very little so we've had our fair share of last minute glasses purchases at "one hour optical places" and gone to many different opticians over the years but finally we've found one we'll be sticking to. Dr Wagner is great. He was able to fit me into the right contact lenses after 10 years of wearing uncomfortable ones (i have dry eyes) or avoiding to wear them while at work because staring a computer all day dried my eyes even more. I was ecstatic! As for my husband, he has troubles finding glasses that will fit because he has practically no bridge to his nose. Again, Dr. Wagner and his staff to the rescue, they were able to fit him with a pair that lasted...ready for this...4 years! No small feat to get glasses that durable (especially with two small children at home constantly using Dad as a jungle gym) at an affordable price. As for the eye exams, I was always made to feel at ease and the staff, all of them, are great with my kids. We were in just last Saturday to have my husbands eyes checked and buy him some new glasses and despite it being VERY busy we found the staff very helpful. They were running crazy but still found the time to help us select some frames and get us in the door and out as fast as possible. (Much appreciated by a mother with two impatient children!!!) Again I can't rave enough about him and his practice. Please take the time to stop in and check them out if you need glasses. For us, we'll never go the route of pricey opticians or cookie cutter one hour optical strip mall stores. My family's eyes are much too precious!

For us, we'll never go the route of pricey opticians or cookie cutter one hour optical strip mall stores. My family's eyes are much too precious!

Pros: Great Doctor! Helpful Staff! Great Prices!

Cons: Can't think of any, we've never had a bad experience!

.

My whole experience was great! I can see better now than EVER before. The testing was very easy and painless. He showed me a picture of my retina and explained the different parts. Wow! My glasses were ready in about 55 minutes( I went back early to see if they were ready and they were!). The best part was the price. I like expensive looking frames but I don't like to pay the price. I was able to get a pair of prescription sunglasses and my regular prescription glasses for the same amount as my regular glasses alone last year( Lenscrafters). Go to this place!

Pros: Dr. Wagner

Cons: none

I was going to Dr. Wagner's optical for years.
The workers are very nice and helpful. Dr. Wagner is also very nice, he takes the time to help his workers out if it's slow/has time.
I went on 5-29-09 Friday morning to get new glasses and by Tuesday morning I had a call letting me know that my glasses are done.
I have family members and friends that go to Dr. Wagner and no one ever had any trouble with the workers!

I have been going to Dr Wagner for many years. He is a really nice and a good eye doctor. I would have continued to go there if I hadnt been treated so badly. I went in to replace my glasses that I had lost and was treated very poorly. Since I wasnt there to just pick up they went ahead and helped everyone before me even though I had been waiting longer than most of them. There were three girls working and all seemed too busy to answer my questions. When I decided on what glasses I wanted it was priced out way too high so I decided to look else where. Had I been treated better I would have purchased from him since hes a good doctor and I wanted to give him business. I asked for a copy of my glasses percription and the shorter chubby girl wearing a vest (4/14/09) gave me a very hard time and made me look at these glasses I had no interest in for a cheaper price. Maybe if she was nicer about it I would have considered it. I looked. I left. Came back and asked them again for my script and they gave it to me. When I left the same rude girl yelled I hope you find the right frames in a mean tone. I must say not all very rude (thinner girl was the only helpful one) He should fire everyone else and maybe he'd have better business. I surely would come back but until then I will be doing my business elsewhere.

Pros: Dr Wagner

Cons: His rude employees

.

Do Not Shop Here!!!!
Dr. Wagner's is a terrible place with terrible service. The employees were very rude. After I decided not to buy my eyewear there they never canceled the authorization they got from my insurance. So when I went to buy my glasses at a different optical store my purchase was rejected by the insurance because Dr. Wagner's never canceled their aurthorization. I called and they said they'd do it, but they never did. I had to go to the store, and they still brushed me off and said they'd do it when they had the chance. It is illegal to not cancel an authorization immediately after the customer does not make a purchase. Finally, I had to become very loud and make a stink before the manager very rudely got off her butt and took 2 minutes out of her day to cancel the authorization.

Cons: everything about it!

Office was very clean and assistants were really friendly and helpful. Dr. was great and the prices were actually better than I expected. Cheaper than when I went to another eye place, also located at the mall. I would recommend my friends to go.
