I met Dr Nyquist today. Prior to my appt I started looking at reviews on him. They were all negative... Not one positive. My experience was polar opposite of every review I read. As a first time patient he spent a lot of time with me and asked very good questions to help him in my diagnosis. He was kind and caring. He spoke to me on a level that I could understand and explained everything in detail. He did not try to over medicate me in any way nor did he try to give me meds that I didn't want. He personally selected a therapist in his office that he felt could help me best and that I could connect and build trust with. Leaving his office I felt as if I had hope and a plan of action to help me get better. I would recommend him and will continue to seek his care for my depression.

Dr Nyquist is a horrible doctor. He is rude and uncaring and only pumps the prescriptions in the patients that he gets kick backs from the pharmaceutical companies. His staff is rude and abrasive and they double charge your credit cards and will not refund the money. CROOKS and SCAMS

I made an appointment over the phone to see Dr Nyquist, whom I was referred to though my regular doctor. My biggest mistake was not reading the reviews on this office before I made my appointment because I would have been saved from this TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. ALL of the reviews on here are dead on- DO NOT waste your time unless you want to be treated like a piece of crap!\r\nI gave my credit card number over the phone and was told that there was a $35 charge if I missed my appointment. On the day of my appointment, I called and said that my class had gotten out late and I would be late for my appointment (I estimated about 15 minutes). Since I just moved to TN 3 weeks ago, I am still unfamiliar with the area and I still get lost frequently. I arrived at my appointment about 45 minutes late because like i said, my class got out late, and I had A LOT of trouble finding the place. I walked in and the lady at the front desk was on the phone. I Waited for a few minutes to speak to her, and after 10 minutes of waiting and not being helped, I finally just filled out the sign-in form and sat down. My name was called a few minutes later and this HUGE RUDE RUDE RUDE lady tells me i'm too late for my appointment and can't be seen today. I understood that I was pretty late, but I explained that I called in advance and that I am new to the area and had trouble finding the place. She continued to tell me that I would have to be the $100 fee and re-schedule. I was shocked at this point-- I had been told that the fee was $35 not $100!!! I would NEVER have given my credit card and authorized it to be charged for $100 in the case that I miss my appointment, NEVER! She looked at me as if I was lying, she was rolling her eyes at me and just overall being VERY rude. She girl at the computer just sat there and she looked very uncomfortable. She wasn't the problem, It was definitely this big fat pig that was the problem. I started getting upset at this point because not only was I lied to about the amount that would be charged in the case that I miss my appointment, but this lady was giving me such bad attitude about missing my appointment, saying things sarcastically like ""you should have called us and asked for directions instead of looking at google maps on your phone. You claim you don't talk on your phone while driving, well looking at maps on your phone is MUCH better"" \r\nShe tells me to hold on a second, then comes back and tells me that they will charge me the $100 and i'm never allowed to come back there again, because i'm supposedly being confrontational with the front desk. Obviously this made me even more mad-- How DARE they treat patients so rudely. I was not being confrontational, I was upset because I was told the fee was $35 and now all of a sudden its $100. I was also upset to begin with because of the way she was talking to me, rolling her eyes at me, and being sarcastic with me. Maybe if they didnt treat people to RUDELY then they wouldnt have so many terrible reviews. Save yourself a whole lot of trouble and just don't come here at all. If my experience can help or prevent anyone else from going through the same thing, then it was at least worth it. \r\nBY THE WAY- I cancelled my Credit Card and ordered a new one so that the $100 would not be authorized! HA!\r\n

Worst doctor experience I've ever had!!!! Dr. McCoy is a real jerk and Connie at the desk is a lying dumbass!! They are only concerned with getting money, and do not care about the patients!! I've never been so irate and upset from a discussion with a doctor! I was in tears! Make sure you cancel your appointment with 24 hours notice, or they charge you $100 (even though Connie at the desk doesn't let you know that policy and lies so that her ass doesn't get chewed out and the patient has to pay $100!!)\r\n\r\nDO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!!!! READ ALL THE REVIEWS AND LISTEN TO THEM OR YOU WILL REGRET IT! THEY WON'T HELP YOU AND THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!

Pros: Absolutely Nothing!!!

Cons: Rude Staff, Rude Doctor!

I had read the previous review, but hoped it was just a rare bad experience. Unfortunately, the previous review is mostly true. I had an initial appt with Dr. Nyquist. I thought he was terrific and truly helpful. Even though he requested I come back to him, the office staff said he was booked and I would see the NP. I have seen him (the NP) twice. He is an ok guy, but I am going to find another pyschiatrist due to the treatment I get from the office staff and their outright refusal to help with insurance issues. They now send out a note saying they won't speak with insurance or pharmacies because ""The insurance companies do not provide payment for this service."" I just needed the dr to change the way he wrote the prescription (20 mg pills instead of 2 10mg a day) but there is no way to leave a voicemail or speak with the doctor. It's sad when you go somewhere for help and the supposed ""help"" is rude and belilttling. Even though I thought Nyquist was worth the month long wait to get an appointment, I cannot recommend this office.
