The waiting room and staff were all very polite. It looked clean. However, when you are taken back it's like an assembly line of children in dentist chairs with only a few feet in between them. It was all in the open, we walked right by a child, not 3 feet away that had his mouth wide open getting his teeth cleaned. How sanitary is that? Anyhow they took us to a room, didn't bother shutting the door, so it remained quite noisy from the assembly line right outside. Within 2 minutes of meeting the assistant started rambling about the doctor having his own product line. The doctor comes in barely acknowledges my very young and anxious child, his patient. We get her in the chair and he starts shoving things in her mouth without talking to her at all. He never tried to explain what he was doing, and she began to cry. He told us his opinion on what her crying meant, still not speaking to her and finished the exam. Of our 20 minute discussion majority of that, say 10 minutes and I'm being generous was about how this doctor has his own product line to sell. I was referred by another dentist that I was really impressed with, so this is not at all what I was expecting.

While at first we were happy with the treatment that Dr. Branam's office provided to our children, we quickly began to question some of his methods. The fact that the parents were not allowed to go with the child for the exam to "encourage independence" seemed like an acceptable idea even though we were somewhat uncomfortable with it.

This has led to our planned exit from entrusting Dr. Branam with our children's care. The problem has risen because without the parent??s consent on multiple occasions now they have treated our children with uncovered procedures thus sticking us with bills for uncovered procedures that the insurance will not cover.

Not allowing the parents to accompany the children in the exam rooms, providing treatments without consent, then expecting the parents to pay the uncovered bill is totally unacceptable.

Although they may specialize in pediatric dentistry and handle the children well, they obviously are lining their pockets with additional money by performing services not covered by insurance and doing so without any interactions with the parent.

After 3 instances of getting stuck with uncovered expenses that we were not consulted on, we will be looking for a new dentist.
