I already paid for my bridesmaid dress in full in mid February & when I did pay there was no mention of signing a contract. 3 weeks later, I find out that even though the dress is completely paid for, they refuse to order it until I mail/fax a signed contract. They are super unfriendly & disorganized to paying customers. When I get married ? I?m NEVER going there.

When they ordered my dress "cut-to-measure" a few months ago, I assumed that the dress would come back and only a few minor alterations would be needed. Instead, I tried it on at my first fitting and it was even bigger than the sample had been! They had to clamp it again and I haven't lost any weight. All my measurements were exactly the same as the ones they took months ago. So I got charged an additional $500 for alterations. The whole thing felt like a scam. Why didn't they actually make my dress to my measurements?

That being said, I am totally in love with my dress...

We had a horrible customer service experience at the flagship Priscilla store in Boston. I ordered five bridesmaid dresses in September. One bridesmaid placed her order the next day, and then I got a call that afternoon from a salesperson saying that she was worried that they'd heard from one girl and not from the others. Keep in mind this was less than 24 hours after I placed the order. All of the other girls then got their orders in. One took a few weeks too long, but at that point no one called me to check in. Two of my bridesmaids were given forms with the wrong names and sizes on them. One had to have hers faxed to her in Minnesota and it was screwed up three times; another was in New Haven and hers was also screwed up the first time. Once the order was finally placed, I never heard from them again. After five months, my maid of honor called to check in on the dresses, and they said "oh, they've been here for weeks, we tried calling but the number the bride gave us was wrong." Which is a) incorrect, because they called me in September, b) they had my email address, and c) they had all of the bridesmaids phone numbers as well. When I called to talk to them, they got very defensive and claimed it was my fault that I didn't know the dresses were there. Several of my bridesmaids then had to rush to get them in time for them to be altered, and the people at the store continued to be unhelpful throughout the rest of the process. The dresses were beautiful, and a good value for the money, but I would NEVER tell someone to buy them from this particular store.

Pros: Dresses are well made, some are reasonably priced.

Cons: Rude and unhelpful salespeople when time to order dresses.

After reading these reviews I hesitated to make an appointment at Priscilla, but I am SO GLAD that I did. My consultant, Michelle, was very friendly and took the time to sit with me and mom and find out about my personal style and budget before bringing in the gowns. She also explained that she would not bring in dresses outside of my budget without giving me a heads-up so that I would have a chance to say 'no, let's not even try it on.' (And she kept her word on that!!)
With every dress I tried on, Michelle encouraged me to talk about what I liked/didn't like and - when I asked for it - she gave me honest and very helpful comments. She picked up on things like my expression and mood when I had each gown on which, I think, demonstrates how focused she was on finding the right gown for me. When I had a question about changing something on a dress, she asked a manager - who was also extremely helpful and friendly - right away. My appointment lasted nearly 3 HOURS, and everyone remained helpful and patient the ENTIRE time. Now that's stamina!!
In regard to some of the other reviews, I can understand the desire to "go through the racks" yourself and, yes, it is true that this particular salon does not allow much of that. But frankly, if you expect to walk in there with no appointment and just grab anything you like it is your expectation, not the salon's behavior, that is out of line. And in regard to pricing - it's all relative. Priscilla is not the place to find a "steal." Their prices range from about $1,500 to down payment on a house. If their prices don't jive with your budget, that's fine. Realistically, we all have our limits. But think twice before you waltz in there just to play dress up. I can see how they wouldn't appreciate that. No one likes to have their time wasted.
One more thing....the level of customer service IS NOT related to your budget. Mine was modest and they were not at all turned off by that.

After a terrible and very unprofessional appointment at La Reine in Waltham (they are not only unfriendly, unprofessional and pricey but the atmosphere in that trashy old house has nothing to do with a nice bridal experience) I was very excited to finally go to Priscilla of Boston. Well known for its beautiful but expensive gowns I was a little worried if I would have any chance to find something for my not so big budget. I had the sweetest Saleswoman ever, Phyllis, very experienced and very friendly. She asked me several very professional questions about my wedding location, my desired gown style and so on before bringing in some samples - questions nobody asked me before! And we finally found my dress. I love it and I can't wait to finally get and wear it. I can highly recommend this great store and I can only tell you that my experience was wonderful and really unique.

With shabby looking dresses (which some of them made in China) they think of themselves as a high class store. Stupidity. Comically arrogant and lazy, they simply lack a basic sense of class and etiquette. The most terrible service I have gotten anywhere in the world. And I travel everywhere!!! In fact, there was no service. Stay away, save your time, energy, money, and good mood and get your dresses from some other places. I know why they charge in such sneaky way. They have no other skills to maintain their business, except sneaking in unspoken charges. For the money they charge, you can probably fly to Hong Kong, or Taiwan, or Eastern Europe (Prague or Budapest), get a vacation, and a dream dress with a meticulous service.

After reading numerous negative reviews of Priscillas, I felt inclined to write my own review. When I began searching for my wedding dress I made an appointment at Priscillas with very high hopes. Upon my initial entry into the store, I was greeted with smiles and congratulations. My sales associate, April, was welcoming, friendly, and endlessly helpful. After showing her the dresses that I had selected online, (and sadly realizing they were out of my price range), April found another dress for me to try on that she thought I might like. Well, it was perfect. She knew exactly what I wanted after only knowing me for a few minutes. The entire experience was all I could hope for out of wedding dress shopping, and all of the sales associates contributed to my wonderful day. I have not yet been through the alteration process yet, but I hope that they live up to my already high expectations.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Priscilla. What used to be "the place" to go in Boston for wedding gowns is now a shabby, second-rate department store relying on the Priscilla legacy as cover. After being rushed to order my gown ("If you don't order today, you'll never have it in time"), I had to make repeated phone calls to obtain a tiny swatch of my material. Repeated questions about swatches for bridesmaids' dresses were ignored (thankfully, I didn't end up ordering there for this reason). The day of my first fitting, I was amazed when I put on a dress that fit like a glove, rather than the skimming A-line I had ordered (I had actually LOST weight, so expected the dress to be loose if anything!), and that also didn't sit straight across the top unless it was tugged and held. Not a happy bride. After leaving, I called and explained the situation to someone at the store, was told that the manager of the store was "unavailable" and then had an exhausting, unsatisfactory discussion with a customer service rep somewhere in Philadelphia, who hadn't bothered to get the fact from t he store, and who spent an hour promising me that if I just gave them a chance, they'd "get it right." Presumably while billing me outrageous amounts for extensive alterations that would have been unnecessary had they simply measured correctly in the first instance (the salesgirl who "measured" me and sold me the dress never made another appearance in all of this, by the way). Despite being told that a senior management representative would contact me after I cancelled my order (and was told I would have to forfeit my deposit, despite their errors), I ended up getting my dress elsewhere and am thrilled with it. It was made the way a wedding gown is supposed to -- with a muslin, by a skilled dressmaker who knows how to properly fit a gown, and who takes the time to do so, unlike the posers at Priscilla who simply want to make a sale and push you out of the store.

I was shocked upon check-out, after my first fitting, that they tacked on an additional $480 dollars on my bill.
Since they make you pay for each adjustment, I truly believe that they ordered the wrong dress size, I literally had to hold up the dress from falling down!!! (NO, I weigh the same exact as at the time of the measurments were taken). They also charged me additional $208 for having the train bustled. I was not advised of this fee when I ordered the dress. OUTRAGEOUS!!!! SNEAKY!!!!

I went shopping for my dress here and was treated very rudely by the sales manager. When she thought I would not buy my dress that day or be able to make up my mind quickly enough for her convenience, she refused to answer any more of my questions or to let me browse, and then stomped off. Clearly there are some staff there who do not understand what customer service is. Despite the famous name, this is a just chain store that is staffed by people with attitudes who just care about making a sale. There are some nice gowns there, but the dress shopping experience is also about feeling comfortable and respected, and being in a low-pressure, friendly environment. There are other shops with pretty dresses. Why not give your business to someone who deserves it?

I recently had an appointment at a bridal shop on Newbury Street. After that appointment I decided that it was an great opportunity to visit some other shops in Boston. Although I did not have an appointment at Priscilla of Boston I decided to go into the shop to look at the gowns with the possibility of making an appointment for a future date. I will NOT be making an appointment at Priscilla of Boston. The older sales woman was rude, condescending and judgmental. I explained to her that I was looking for a classic, elegant dress without elaborate detail for my Fall wedding. Her snappy retort was, "Why don't you just go to David's Bridal?" and turned her back and walked away. I would think that the sales staff at a bridal shop would treat a potential costumer with common courtesy. Especially a potential customer who is having a Fall wedding on Nantucket with eight bridesmaids. Until the staff at Priscilla of Boston has been trained properly in basic costumer service skills, my advice is that brides and their attendants should take their business to a bridal shop that will treat them with respect.

I have been looking around for wedding gowns for 5 months, and have visted several shops. I went to Priscilla's three times, and the service is not only consistent (I say this very positively), but they never put any pressure on the Bride. I worked with three wonderful consultants, all of them were friendly, upbeat, and very knowledgable. They all took the time to learn my style and respected my price range. I ended up finding a beautiful gown and couldn't be happier about my choice! Truth be told, the prices are on the high end, but they do not hide that fact. I think there are many gorgeous gowns, all unique in there own way. My suggestion is to be open minded and trust the staff, they are great!

I had the best experience here while shopping for a wedding dress. I worked with Phyllis who is amazing!!!! I told her my budget and she brought me a gorgeous dress that was exactly the style I had in mind and the dress fit me great. She is also a sweetheart and fun to work with. She is not pushy and she respects the fact that you are on a budget.
I was so relieved when I went here after all my horrible experiences in other bridal stores! Priscilla's not only carries beautiful gowns, but has awsome customer service.
I highly suggest this bridal salon.

My experience at Priscilla of Boston was great. I made an appointment and was welcomed at the door. During my consultation I told the staff that I wanted to spend much less than their average dress costs. The woman helping me didn't even bat an eye and immediately started getting out dresses. She found me a beautiful Melissa Sweet that was on sale b/c it was a sample. I ended up going home with a dress that was 4/5 the original price and Im thrilled. I highly recommend Priscilla's.

After I read these reviews, I just had to write about my experience. I made an appointment for February for my mother and I to look at wedding gowns. Our experience was very positive. Prior to going, I was a bit nervous that it would be a snooty gown shop. Honestly, everyone was friendly, helpful, etc. Our salewoman was very good. She clearly has done this for a long time. I brought photos of some Priscilla gowns I liked and she brought those for me to try on as well as others she thought I'd like. She emphasized that we were going to have fun and we really did. She was patient as I tried on a few dresses multiple times, in fact, she encouraged it.

My dress has not come in yet (October wedding) so I can't speak for the fittings and alterations but our dress shopping experience was very good.

I went into the salon not knowing that it was by appointment only (there are no signs stating this). My mother, sister and I exited the elevator and were glared at by the two people sitting behind the desk. They did not greet us or even stand up, they only asked in an accusatory tone of voice,"Do you have a appointment?!" I said "no, but could I look around anyway?" They nodded and glared. One man gave me a smile and a apologetic look, the others should learn from him!!! I walked through the salon and was PUSHED aside by an older sales associate. She actually pushed me because I was in her way. I figured she was having a bad day, so I continued to look. I found a dress I loved, It was my dream dress. Overpriced, but beautiful, I wanted to try it on. I asked and they LAUGHED at me, and said no, I needed an appointment. I was ready to buy a dress at that moment, and knowing I live an hour from the salon, they told me that they couldn't help me. They could could have been nice or apologetic that they could not help me, but they were rude instead. They lost out on a $4,800 sale. They are snotty and rude, please stay away!!!!

Wedding gown shopping should be an amazing experience for every woman but my experience at Priscilla of Boston was nothing of the sort. The woman who was supposed to "help" me was obnoxious and rude. She barely cared to know what styles I wanted and would answer all of my questions with either a "yes" or "no". She was not friendly and had an 'I don't want to be here' attitude. She had me try on only 4 dresses that were all exactly the same. I did like one of the dresses, but I would never support their store. I highly recommend going somewhere else. Don't waste your time.

You really have to be very insecure or very stupid to put up with their * . The staff's incompetence and their "I am going to insult you before you insult me" attitude is only the beginning. I had the misfortune of shopping for a bridal gown there. There is no sevice, no management, stupid sales people (SAT scores of 300 or lower). If you ask for an off white traditional gown, they bring you 3 bright white strapless Tango costumes - and glare at you in mock outrage when you dare to repeat your request. Priscilla's is NOT for the sophisticated bride, but for pathetic suckers willingl to endure needless abuse at the hands of some really sleazy creeps. STAY AWAY!!

Talk about rude, insensitive staff! 1st appointment, the sales rep couldn't be more indifferent, She didn't listen to me and brought me the most hidieous gowns. Talk about not trying at all! Second appointment, when I wanted to try on other dresses, she kept rolling her eyes at me and gave me the, "I told you so..." speech. (She didn't tell me anything!)

My friend had the most unfortunate experience there, too. After her broken engagement, she called to cancel the dress. After a whole, "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that..." speech from the sales rep and, "Let's see what I can do. I'll call you back." my friend was sent an impersonal, "cancellation" form. "I'll call you back" whatever! To make matters worse, Priscilla STILL sent her promo/events postcards every week! She called to complain to the manager. The postcards stopped coming - guess what? Some sales person called and left a message saying her gown has arrived, please drop by for her first fitting! Can you BE any more insensitive and disorganized?

There are so many great bridal stores in and around Boston. Priscilla of Boston, in Boston is NOT WORTH GOING TO!!! TRUST ME.

Pros: You can find Melissa Sweet gowns here. That's the only pro.

Cons: WORSE service. Clueless staff. CLUELESS!

Do you want to be treated badly? By people you don't know who will still gladly make a commission off of you and your bridal party? Yet actually have a very limited selection of gowns and styles for you to choose from? Then by all means go here. If not, go to any of the better bridal salons anywhere in and around Boston. Don't demean yourself.

I went dress shopping last summer with my mother. We were both thrilled...until we walked into Priscillas. From the moment I stepped in there, I felt out of place. When I asked to set up an appointment, the very rude saleswoman asked me when my wedding was. When I told her September of 2007, she actually laughed in my face. "You do know that all of the dresses will be different at that point", she asked, indignantly. "Yes, but I am not looking for a trendy gown, I want something traditional". Figuring that would shut her up, I put on my best smile. "Well, Miss, we don't usually book appointments for weddings that far in advance". My poor mom just wanted to get me out of there for fear of ruining my first wedding dress shopping experience. So, we left, and the rest of the day I felt deflated.

Cons: Service, Service, Service

.

I was shocked at how horrible the service was. I was treated as though I was inconveniencing them even though I had an appointment. I was given three dresses to try on and then completely forgotten about. I don't think anyone even noticed when my bridesmaids and I left scowling. The dresses were ludicrously priced for such gaudy designs. Price does not equal quality and service at Priscilla of Boston!

I just read the poor reviews of the Boston store and can't believe it! I purchased my dress from this store in November and had a wonderful experience. The staff was helpful and made my dress shopping experience everything that I wanted it to be. Just wanted to defend the wonderful people who helped me...

Weddings are supposed to be HAPPY OCCASIONS!
Not only did the saleswomen at Priscilla lie about ordering one of my bridesmaids dresses (while charging my credit card for it), but they proceeded to insult 2 of my bridesmaids for starting families (i believe the quote was "getting themselves pregnant"). Priscilla does have beautiful, quality merchandise, which is why we chose to buy a very expensive wedding dress and 10 bridesmaid dresses from them, but they really need to work on putting some customer service behind their big name or else its gonna get old real quick. I can name 10 girls that won't be shopping at Priscilla for their weddings. Even Vera Wang in New York is more gracious - stop in some time, you may learn something.

Pros: beautiful gowns

Cons: service, service, service

I looked for my wedding gown at Priscilla and was very disappointed. They have some lovely gowns, but since you aren't allowed to browse the collection you might never see the one. The salesgirl that helped me was rude. I've heard that the service in other locations is much better than in Boston!

I left in tears. That's how rude the salesgirl was. She told me not to be so picky because my chest probably wouldn't fit into anything they had anyway. For $3000 a dress, I thought she might be more accomodating. She never even took me out of the dressing room for me to see myself in the large mirror. She gave ma a HAND MIRROR so I could see the back of the gown. Then she hurried me along in time for her next appointment. She was AWFUL. Do not go here. EVER!

I just purchased a gown from Priscilla of Boston in Atlanta and had a fantastic experience. The consultants at the boutique could not have been any more helpful and they helped me find the dress of my dreams. I would recommend this shop to everyone.
