I think Dean means well. I really do. I also think he is not a particularly good businessman or landscaper.

We bought an old home which had been terribly neglected and quite overgrown. Bravo was hired to do two jobs:

1) Clean the yard of all the branches, rocks, trash, etc. This was quoted on a time basis. The invoice came in at twice the estimated amount.

2) Install a backyard drain system. This was quoted on a fixed price basis. When the invoice was presented, all sorts of additional line items were added. Generally, these took the form of "encountered more rocks than expected" and "used more topsoil", the latter after specifically saying in the quote that he "would use NO MORE THAN xxx yards". Again, this was a fixed price quote. Last I checked, that means the contractor assumes risk for overages.

Then, these two jobs required 2 months to be completed. And, Dean asked us for money in advance of the job completion, because he had poor start-of-the-season cash flow. When 1/3 payment was provided (we are not without understanding), he asked for more!

We'd finally had enough and discharged Bravo Landscaping. I cannot discourage use of their service strongly enough.
