I was in a conundrum with a bunch of company coming over for Memorial Day. My 8 year old air conditioner was making a very loud noise while it ran. I called Around The Town and the were very professional and prompt in their service. I liked that fact that they are "flat rate" and won't have any surprises with high hourly charges if it takes longer than expected. So the technician came out and gave me the option of replacing or enhancing the system with new technology called Renew Aire. The total process only cost me a little over $130 and it dramatically reduced the noise and even my amp usage on the unit. Two weeks later my second a/c unit went out after running for 11 years but this one had a bad compressor. It cost too much to repair compared to getting a new one so we opted to use his financing program and we were approved in a matter of minutes. Today we are enjoying an ultra high efficient Airease furnace and cooling system watching our bills come in almost half of what they were last year. This system also came with a 10 Year Parts Warranty!! Around the Town does quality repair and installs and I would recomend them to anybody. Thank you!!

Our house was toasty warm, thanks to their fast service on short notice. We had an emergency at our home and a party scheduled for later that evening. We called Around the Town and several other heating repair companies. They were able to take care of our needs that very day and at an affordable cost. We are keeping their card on our fridge for any future issues based on such helpful service.

My pilot light on my furnace failed to light this winter, so I searched through Google and found Around the Town (I live in Chicago). They sent a technician (they charge $85 as a servicing fee) out to look at the furnace, and after doing some checking to see if my heat exchanger was cracked, decided to replace the gas valve. The technician had a replacement gas valve in his truck, but after coming back with the gas valve, told me that it would cost $375 for the part. After asking him to wait, I went and looked online at the prices of gas valves. The same gas valve was $75 at a number of different online retailers. I told him I didn't want to pay a $300 markup on a $75 part. He responded that this is what his boss told him to charge, and that was just the price of doing business. I was surprised that his gas valve was so expensive, so I asked if there was something special about it -- he said it was just a standard universal gas valve. He didn't offer to lower the price so I told him not to install it. I paid $85 for an hour's worth of diagnostics, and didn't get a working furnace out of it. If you choose to use this company, consider that you will probably be paying much more for parts than you should, and once they've begun "servicing" your unit, they will charge you $85 and try to rack up the profits with overpriced parts. If you refuse to pay for overpriced parts, they won't offer to find cheaper parts for you, they'll just pocket the $85 and leave.

Owner came out, wrote an acceptable proposal, scheduled the heat and a/c install and he disappeared. Not even a call. Not even an excuse.

There are a lot of good companies with solid reputation. Keep looking.

Most unprofessional company I've "worked with" in a long time. I put that in quotes, because despite repeated attempts, they never even showed up!

I put in a simple AC service request with them because the price was good and they advertised support for my model. They scheduled me for about a week out, which was reasonable.

The day of the appointment arrives? no sign of the technician. An hour past the scheduled start time I called their service number to find out what the hold up was. I??m told that they??re sorry, but they had to reschedule me. Someone was ??supposed to have called me earlier that morning? to let me know, but no such call ever came. Having stayed home from the office through mid day waiting, I lost the day of work, and they rescheduled me for a week later.

The day before the next scheduled date I receive a call that they??re sorry (again) but they??re too busy and need to push me back another week. I tell them this is unacceptable, my AC is in significant need of service, and remind them that they already rescheduled my once (without notice). After a bit of waffling, the person on the phone tells me that their technician can come out the next evening at 6 to fit me in. I accept.

The next day I leave the office early to ensure I??m home on time (I have a fairly long commute). While in transit I receive a voice mail that they??re sorry (third time), but the technician can??t make it out this evening, and they??ve gone ahead and rescheduled me for the next night

At this point they??ve stood me up twice and although I didn??t bother to call back and chew them out, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well, the next evening came the predictable strike three. No show, no courtesy call to say they??ve screwed me over a third time, no nothing.

Most unprofessional company I??ve worked with in a long time. Complete failures at communication and no respect for their customer??s time or needs. They make the cable company look *good* at scheduling! Will not be dealing with them again.

Oak Lawn. I did not have a home inspection done. I was without heat
when I finally found Ed from Around The Town Heating. He came immediately
out and found that i needed a new boiler. Ed installed a new boiler
for a very good price, made sure that I had heat and that everything was
in working order. He also made sure that he layed drop cloths down to
not ruin my carpeting or furniture. I will definately use Around The
Town Heating again.

My hot water tank had gone out on me on a Sunday.
I called Around the Town Heating and Ed offered to come right out. I
did say that it was Sunday and asked if he could come on Monday. Ed was
at my home at 8:30 monday morning which was the time we set. Ed
explained why my hot water tank had gone out and installed a new one at a
very reasonable price. I will recommend Ed to anyone I know and will
definatly use him again
