The extended hours of service as well as the care they provide. I appreciate the concern they show when I need care. When I have begun experiencing bleeding late on a Friday, it is good to know that they are there and I do not have to either wait for Monday to see a MD or run to an emergency room.\r\n\r\nFour of us from my family have used their services and each of us has had nothing but positive experiences.\r\n\r\n

Pros: Hours and care

I have been very pleased with the services at the NSMC. The physicians, PA and DO have been attentive, they listen to the patient and take the time necessary to make appropriate diagnosis and referrals. All and all, the walk-in center spends more time with me as a patient than my primary care physician.

The other review made me think this place was a clinic, where I come from clinic means affordable health care for the uninsured, often with a sliding scale so payment is based on income. This Medical Walk-In is even more expensive than some doctors private office fees- $130, just for the office visit. North Stonington is a relatively wealthy area so I'm not surprised about this, I just got mislead by the former review. There is a clinic not too far away in Hopkinton, Rhode Island- $78 office fee, and there is a sliding scale so you may pay even less- you just need to bring proof of your income. There is another clinic in Norwich, but I didn't get their information. \r\n\r\nAlso, I work outside and had removed several deer ticks this past spring, I've had two bouts of flu like symptoms since- so I feel I need a Lyme test. The receptionist said No! I needed to pay for a physical and then maybe the doctor might give me the Lyme test, maybe not, and I could expect the lab fees to be in excess of $200 should the doctor decide to give me the test. It only cost $40 to have my dog tested for not just Lyme, but 4 other tick born diseases plus heartworm! And they do the test annually, living in an area with one of the highest rates of Lyme infection is enough reason to test our pets, but people are not so lucky at the North Stonington Walk-In Medical Center. I was really shocked when a Medical Center in Connecticut thought a Lyme disease test might not be necessary- everyone should be tested annually with or with out symptoms. Inexpensive treatment with antibiotics could spare you a lifetime of chronic illness which is what happens when Lyme is not treated promptly- and Lyme is epidemic here. Why can't we do as much for people as we do for pets? \r\n\r\nThis place may be great for insured people looking for help from other ailments, so I'm not saying don't go here to those lucky people. I just wanted to spare uninsured people the hassle of looking into it.
