I second that. This woman is a con-artist and a liar. She is a serpent and hides behind her bible.

In November 2008, I retained the legal services of Attorney Cynthia Gayle Smith for a civil lawsuit that I had filed pro se in Arlington, VA. Attorney Smith advertised herself as a Christian Attorney. It turns out, in my honest opinion, she was anything but Christian, ethical or competent. Attorney Smith failed to provide any notable legal services and in my considered opinion, based on facts below that I later learned, never intended to do so. Attorney Smith failed to even file an appearance with the Court. I chose attorney Smith because she professed to be an honest Christian. Instead she conducted herself more like a Godless charlatan by engaging in what I consider despicable, unethical, unprofessional, and unscrupulous misconduct. I terminated our contract after one month due to her failure to perform any services. As such, I then filed a complaint with the Virginia State Bar.

A week after I terminated our contract, Attorney Smith sent me a bitter, spiteful and unprofessional letter wherein she revealed what I consider to be an extremist religious fanatical misandrist attitude toward men in general and me in particular. It was clear that Attorney Smith held these opinions when she first accepted my case and retainer. In that letter, she stated that I was guilty in the eyes of God because I engaged in sex as a single man with single women outside of the sanctity of marriage, both of which (women and marriage) she declared were created by God.

Attorney Smith initially claimed that she had worked twenty hours on my case, which I disputed. She then clarified the statement and claimed that she would have worked twenty hours within the next three days had I not terminated the contract. Out of apparent economic and financial desperation in August 2010, almost two years after I filed the complaint with the Virginia State Bar, Attorney Smith sent me a bill claiming that she had really worked 35.7 hours on my case and was thus seeking an additional $3,925.00 to the $5,000.00 retainer she had already misappropriated. She stated that she was sending me the bill ??In light of the trouble the complaint [that I had filed with the Bar] has caused me in terms of bring (sic) to light my underlying financial problems (caused by injustices in my personal life)?.

On February 4, 2011, the Virginia State Bar issued a determination in my complaint. The VSB failed to address the plethora of ethical and professional misconduct issues I cited in the complaint. Instead, the VSB chose to focus only on Attorney Smith??s admission that throughout her entire legal career she had violated her fiduciary and ethical responsibility by failing to ever deposit any client retainers and fees into approved attorney trust accounts as required by Bar rules. This suggests to me that Attorney Smith essentially had been taking money from clients and depositing them directly into her personal bank account and spending the money as if it were an unexpected financial windfall without regard to the fact of whether the fees had been earned.

According to Attorney Smith, she is the ex-wife of a fallen Pastor who deserted her, their eight children and the Church to live with another woman in ??sin? and provided her no financial support. Consequently, I believe that Attorney Smith became bitter toward men, particularly African American men. And as such Attorney Smith I believe has become a serial pro se litigant filing civil actions against numerous and various defendants on grounds that are, at best, of questionable merit,? seeking to intimidate defendants into unmerited financial settlements.

For example, in August 2010, Attorney Smith filed a civil suit against an African American Pastor, his wife and the religious organization with which they are affiliated. She alleged in that complaint among other things Defamation and incredibly the ??impugning of her Sexual Purity? as a result of a dance skit performed by the church. Attorney Smith is the mother of eight children. However, apparently through some religious extremist fanatical construct she believes she is ??Sexually Pure?.

In May 2011, Attorney Smith filed a Pro Se civil suit against me for Defamation for posting on www.LawyerRatingz.com another truthful review like this one of the legal professional services she provided, or failed to provide, during our contract. I am convinced that the lawsuits against the Pastor and myself are patently frivolous abuses of process and speak volumes about Attorney Smith. Consequently, I would not recommend the services of Attorney Cynthia G. Smith.
