||| After looking over the Norse website, I looked for what others thought with a search on the phrase *Norse Custom Homes reviews*. On 16 sites with Norse info, I found one nice posting that wasn't clearly just a company comment! I also found an A+ rating by the BBB. Looked OK! But obviously not based on Jon's documented issues I list here! But if you're beginning to consider this contractor, as I was, read on! My next pre-hiring checks produced startling results I didn't find anywhere else. They were with three government websites, exposing a raw list of many extremely serious issues. Bad enough to compel me to add this at the review sites to make this critical information likely to be found. This may help vet your other company choices too.
||| Public records (#1,#2,#3 below) show he has conflicts that are increasingly severe with the IRS & many more. Condensed for review limits, in March 2015, I found: [a.] of 255 Liljegren Auditor records listed, four in 2011 and 2012 are recorded "FEDERAL TAX LIEN" (at "Sort by:", choose "Date...Descending" to find) on their heavily mortgaged house (2010 record) showing Jon and his wife Susanne Liljegren additionally owed a total of about $95,000 to the IRS. Another record shows "RELEASE FED TX LIEN" -Fed speak for paid?- on only Susanne's $14,490.79 lien leaving a total of $79,944.25 still due. (This is what underwater/judgment proof, even to the IRS, looks like.) [b.] at the Courts website, 25+ records that list Jon or Susanne Liljegren (including the various misspellings but clearly them) as "defendant" since 1995, [c.] at the Auditor & Courts websites, many judgments and liens often against both Jon and Susanne, with many not shown as somehow resolved and [d.] the Margaret search produces links to King Co Superior Ct. records showing a 45 item, 3+ year process including item 19, a "Petition For Removal Of Pr" to successfully remove Jon from the Personal Representative (Pr) control of Margaret's 2011 estate. (This is a forced removal & requiring clear and compelling evidence of wrong doings.) All these findings tell me this SOB has the balls to try to fight (cheat?) the IRS, subcontractors, suppliers, lenders, his siblings and more! Biting a lot of dust doing it doesn't seem to have changed his ways much! Auditor records do show after more than 2 years, it seems the Pierce County Parks, Peninsula School District as well as a few others were lucky to get Jon to pay up. Bottom line, is THIS the guy to trust to properly account for of hundreds of thousands of your dollars while building your home?
||| Verification...per his website, Jon G. Liljegren currently is Norse Custom Homes, LLC. Per L&I was formerly Liljegren Enterprises / Norseland Construction. Go to three websites: #1 *Pierce County Auditor* (there Search Documents link at the page bottom, then "click here..." then Recorded Documents gets you to Name:), #2 *Washington Courts name search* and #3 *Washington L&I verify a contractor* (there at "I want to search by" choose "Name"). Search each *phrase* to get links to each website. Search the Auditor and L&I sites with only LILJEGREN in only the labeled "Name:" box. The Courts site makes it harder by additionally requiring at least the first name initial. Of the full alphabet, clearly Jon related information showed only when first initial J, S and M were added to those 3 separate LILJEGREN searches. "J" found 15 listings for Jon, 4 for John (Jon misspelled but clearly him), and 4 for Jane Doe (Susanne name apparently not known but these listings also include a Jon/John G.) "S" found 3 for Susanne "M" found Margaret (his mom's estate with Jon as the removed 1st PR.) Of course, this doesn't find likely misspellings of Liljegren.
||| Consider too, the L&I website shows Jon is NOT the "owner" OR "governing person" of what is presented at the Norse and review sites as Jon's one man LLC! (Limited Liability Co.) His required bond "protecting" you is the minimum $12,000! Erik, listed by L&I as the "owner," is not mentioned anywhere on the Norse website and returns not one public record in the Auditor search, perhaps because a separate search shows he also lives a long way from Pierce County! (Jon's new company in name but "owner" Erik's A+ rating?) Why dump Norseland's reputation & credit history if good?
||| Do check all this out first hand. It's all there and useful to know how it works. Need more? Look at complete records for the details of what the above searches only list. With potentially reams of documents, it is most efficient to view them at each of the offices. Also get a professional background check to find some of what the government doesn't tell you. Or search *how to conduct a background check on someone* for more ways to do it yourself. (5000 char. limit. Balance elsewhere.)
