I took my Mazda 3 here, well to the spring cypress and kuykendahl location, due to my transmission not switching any further than 3rd gear. Sal, the owner, gave told us and gave us his word that we would not have to pay anything up front. No down payment, can make payments, have a year to pay it off, and still be able to drive my car after the work was done. After we signed the paperwork, we received calls from loan places and one wanted my mother to put my fathers truck up on a loan. We were not told that it would be loans, he guaranteed us to be able to make payments after, even after telling him our credit was bad to do any kind of financing. He then called the dealership to see if they would tack it on to the back of my notes, which they did not agree to. He kept my car and told us that we now have to pay a total of 3480.64, the price of a new transmission isn't even that much, in full in order for me to even drive my car away. I then had to call the dealership and explain what was going to them myself, I showed them all the paperwork I had from Sal and even they agreed that it was a scam and they tried everything to help us get the car back. They wanted me to get Sal to give us an itemization because they sent their mechanic to talk to his and his mechanic said that they haven't even opened the hood to see what was wrong with it. When we asked for the itemization he grew very mad at us but sent it a couple of hours later. Sal and I came to an agreement of 3000 and I can get my car back. After I talked to the dealership they were gonna help get the money, and I told him that I was able to come up with the 3000 he told us that now he tacked on 300 for court costs to send a certified letter that he was going to sell the car. Now, it's going on 2 months since my car has been in there, I'm pregnant with a high-risk pregnancy and a broken ankle and have had to miss several doctors appointments and work due to no car. I have a 6 year old son, whom I've had to miss teachers conferences and doctors appointments for also. I luckily work with my mother, but unfortunately I live in Sheldon and she lives in Cypress so she now has to drive to come get me at 4:00 in the morning to get us and my brother to work on time, on top of that she has to take me to do my running around during the weekends. Had he told us that it would be loans or there was a possibility of losing my car we would have never agreed to any of this. He seems nice and sweet and first but became a real a-hole quickly. Now the dealership has told us that they will possibly be suing us for losing the car while still making payments on it. Now, I'm without a car, and a lot of obvious debt because Sal gave us his word and then went back on such. Had I did more research on the company I would have found all the complaints and similar stories to what I have been going through, to which I found after having signed all the paperwork.

First of all I would like to say that this is my first time putting reviews online for anybody. I don't like to hurt anybody's reputation and try to compromise on situation when you feel decieved. Well this one is totally frustration and couldnt help myself and had to write about it so that no one should go through what i have been through. I called this guy named Sel up and explains him my truck's transmission problem. he said bring it here and he will check it for free and then he asks for 500 bucks to take it down and check. i agreed of course there was no way out. He took it down and called me up said it needs a re-build. I said no, put it back i will take it somewhere else. he said he is gonna charge me another 500 to put it back. So now you see how he trapped me. I agreed to go for a re-build and he promised he will put a used transmission which he didn't. he just replaced the torque convertor and put everything back which I had. Now I couldnt fight with this guy cause he is the boss of everything and most importantly he had my truck. Well he charged me $2500 for 1500 buck job. he gave me a life time warranty on the re build and i left. 3 months later, i again faced issues with my truck's transmission, so i went to him. he checked and said I have some liquids mixed with the transmission oil so the warranty is not going to cover anything. he asked for another $2500 for this. I left his place and towed my truck away to another mechanic but promised I will never go or suggest this Evil person to any one. So please take your time to decide where you guys are going. Do your research which i didn't and end up going to this Un ethical guy and suffered.
Go anywhere but not this and I am not saying this cause I am upset, i am saying this cause i don't want anybody to suffer. Trust me its pretty bad. Also dont listen to his salesmanship at all cause he is good at trapping you with this talks but sucks at getting the right work done. Thanks for reading!

Make no mistake about it; this shop has no desire to do anything besides provide you with a full and very costly repair. They will not listen to a customer who says they are not willing to spend much money on a vehicle and make every effort to deceive you into thinking they are keeping your costs down until you accept or reject an expensive repair. My vehicle had a late shift between first and second gear on days over 100 degrees if I've been driving for more than an hour straight. I refused 3 different offers of $1,500 plus and was told that I owed them 7.5 hours of labor at $95/hr it took to check into the problem. So, $1,500 or your car that you drove in here three days ago won't run, but you owe $700. This three day had many phone calls I'd had with the shop and the owner. I was repeatedly told I would be called back and not called. I was hung up on a couple of times and it was made clear that their personal matters are more important than the customers'. I couldn't stand to give them another dollar beyond what was made clear I was legally liable for, so I towed my vehicle without being repaired. They might do good work if you let them, but don't go near unless you are absolutely sure you need a whole transmission.

I initially contacted Americas Transmission Experts, located at 930 South Mason Rd, Ste J in Katy, TX 77450 and spoke with Sal, the owner, Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was very kind, friendly and took time to speak to me concerning my transmission. I explained what occurred with my car that lead to the need of a new transmission and he said, I can almost guarantee that you do not need an new transmission, Volvos are hard to destroy, let me pick it up and do some free testing and get things taken care of. I agreed and explained I had a set amount of money so I first needed to know worst case scenario. He explained worst case scenario you will need a new transmission $1,800, I then said are you sure? I really need absolute worst case. He proceeded to say with new transmission, Life Time Warranty, no rebuilding anything, casing.some electrical replaced because Volvos sometimes needs this it may run a whole lot less than what the other place was charging you. It will be around $2,200.00. I was very excited about this. So excited that I gave him the go ahead to pick my car up and get started on it right away. However, things took a turn for the worst once my car arrived at the shop. It took several phone calls and request to have Sal to call me in order to get the status of my vehicle. Sal finally called and stated that they needed to get this form signed before he was able to get the last final thing tested. Sal emailed an agreement that stated if my car was not fixed by his company, I would pay $95/hr labor. I did read this agreement but as stated above, Sal and I had already had conversations about worst case scenario so I knew that he and his staff would be fixing my car. After several calls, I called Sal, he then explained that it would cost $3, 995.00 to fix my car which was not the verbal quote we had discussed previously. During this conversation I reminded him that this was not what he had expressed to me before. He proceeded to explain that they were (Americas Transmission Experts) were the experts who did transmissions daily. We ended that conversation with my request to move my car to a different shop that honored their word. Sal then said he would total my fees and call me back tomorrow. Sal did NOT call me for almost 2 complete days. I then had my spouse call and he quoted him a $1,095 fee for diagnostics. After requesting how Sal occurred these fees and feeling like I had no other option, we had to allow Sal to fix the car but I requested an itemized. He sent 3 quotes and neither were itemized. He then requested payment before he worked on my car. I had to get a third party involved. After which, a somewhat itemized bill was sent. I requested my 10% discount to be added to this quote in which is advertised discussed in an email but wasnt honored due to conversations with partners. After seeking help, I was told that I had to pay his unfair amounts, file with the BBB and take him to Civil Court. Therefore, I had no choice but to pay this amount and attempt to settle it later. My advice to anyone considering this establishmentsimply DONT take your car to this establishment. Americas Transmission Experts is unfair and will cause you lots of un-needed stress.
