Was there celebrating Valentine's day, wait staff was very courteous. Obviousy a very busy night, felt a little forgotten at times, but nothing major. Food was fantastic, but if you order the duck be prepared to wait 45 minutes. The only reason for 4 stars is because waiter told me 25 mins, but it took 45 mins. Definitely recommend and will be back.

I was there for a wedding and was blown away by the property, rooms, service, everything. Our room was gorgeous, we worked out at the gym the next day, the wedding was completely beautiful. \r\nThe most amazing this was the grounds. It is amazing to see how beautiful and hidden the property is given the fact that it is right in the Galleria area. \r\nRecommend to anyone

Now don't get me wrong the spa and gym are AMAZING!!!!! but the hotel? OMG! Can you say RUDE staff? I don't think it's possible to say it enough! If I am paying this type of money I at least expect you to be friendly to me. If you ask for anything you get a little attitude and apparently booking online is NOT the way to go! Now it's beautiful place but, I suggest firing everyone there and restaffing.

Attended a wedding and it was the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen in such a large city. A true resort with an amazing spa (Trellis), fabulous food, and one of the finest fitness clubs in the country. Our room was cozy and comfortable with a view of the woods that surround the hotel. Stunning! It is a hidden treasure. We went for our frineds very special day and it turned out to be our own special weekend. We were there for three days and never left the Houstonian property. Why would we? Gorgeous grounds and warm, friendly service throughout. Looking forward to returning many, many times.

Pros: Attention to the details

Cons: Have to book spa early. Fills up quickly but worth it.

The Houstonian is a special, specialized place. We have been going there for nearly 30 years, and have always had ideal experiences and respect from the staff. It is FAR from the most expensive, yet the extensive grounds and activity center give you the feeling you are not in a 'city' but at a quiet resort - far from the maddening crowd. The rooms are not large, but they are certainly adequate, as empasis is on a Spa or resort get-away atmosphere. Recommended for newlyweds, the over-stressed, and the lazy! \r\nWhen we are there, our friends and family prefer to COME to the Houstonian to see us, rather than us visit them... they all enjoy it as much as we do. In the winter, gathering around the fire in the lobby and sitting up chatting until 2 is a favorite part of the visit. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Houston.

Pros: Atmosphere, spa facilities, jog path, location, privacy, parking ease, service, views

Cons: Rooms are not HUGE - but, for us they are ample for a 4-day stay

.

Just because it's the most expensive, it's does not mean the best. The service not only RUDE, but terrible and slow. SNOBS galore in the staff dept. typical of wanna be part of the crowd, but not cutting it. Way too expensive just for being in the wood? No thank you, will not go back, will not recommend, will not stop by and collect anything.

$250/night, expect carpet without need 4 slippers. Maybe a coffeemaker in the room! \nCheckin: Didn't have my reservation, had to go back to valet get confirmation out of car. Got the #, got an attitude from front desk blaming Expedia - got the wrong # of nights, wrong room-type, wrong level of room (pre-paid). Clerk was less than professional/competent. No apology, blamed me/Expedia. \nRooms small - looked for chalk outline, looked like someone stabbed in room. Bathroom: Motel 6 - maximum one person!\nTemperature hard 2 regulate. Bed not comfortable\nNo one offered to take luggage to room (because we self-parked?) Front desk told us where to park but not how to get to room. Came thru lobby w/luggage & only way to get to room was through a wedding photo session, upstairs carrying luggage, late for a birthday dinner.

Pros: Great Gym, Relaxing land scape, open bar!

Cons: I live in new york.

Overall, I was not impressed with the Houstonian. The service is slow, it took forever before out luggage arrived to out room. The valet, however, is great. The rooms were average. I expected a lot more for a high end hotel. But it is the gym and the spa that makes them stand out. I wouldn't pay more then $150 a night for this hotel.

Stayed on March 26 for anniversary. Wonderful experience. The people are so nice. If I needed anything, they were always willing to help. The hotel is so beautiful with a home-like feel. They are building some new pools so only one was open when we stayed, but it looks like it will be really nice. The health club was wonderful and the best for last....the spa. So nice. The people, the service and the massage was wonderful. My husband and I had a couple massage. I'd recommend that for anyone who wants a unique and nice anniversary experience. I hope my husband takes me back every year!

Attended a wedding in Houston and had the opportunity to stay here. Absolutely amazing. Service was excellent. Very nice, yet very comfortable, like home. You don't know what a cool place it is until you drive in and see the beautiful grounds. The food at the reception and room service were excellent. The health club...WOW. Awesome. Walked the green padded track through the woods. Went into spa but didn't use it. It was really huge and nice though. I would highly recommend this place. It's not cheap, but well worth the price!

Wow, \nMy wife and I just stayed there for our anniverssary and her birthday. When we arrived, our room was not ready. The hotel checked our bags and gave us a limo to use for shopping until the room was ready. We were upgraded to the conscierge floor because of the delay and when we arrived back to our room for the evening there was a handwritten letter from the manager along with fresh roses, chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, and a bottle of champagne. I have never been treated so well by a hotel. the surrounding were beautiful and the staff was quick and curteous. We will be staying there again.

Who would've thought that there's a beautiful hotel surrounded by so much greenery in the middle of Houston? As a suggestion, go there during the winter. Everything is lit up with holiday cheer and at night the trees and gazebo outdoors are covered in white lights. The friendly staff and several activities added to an even more pleasant stay.

My recent stay at the Houstonian was first-class all the way ... from the friendly staff (everyone from the front desk to the bellhops to the valets) to the splendid rooms, excellent room service and on-site restaurant (the duck is incredible) to the spa facilities. The pool and whirlpool are superb, and that, in a word, describes my overall experience. I'll be coming back, time and again.

My fiance and I treated ourselves to the ""Spa Weekend"" for our 1 year anniversary! We arrived tired, were greeted with smiles and helpful information regarding our room, the property and printed itinerary for the Spa. The amenities were gorgeous, we felt like royalty when visiting the Lounge on the Concierge Level, sharing a cordial in front of the fireplace! In our room, lush wooded landscaping greeted us through picture windows. At the Olivette for our night out"", our entrees were delicious, impressing us with the expertise of the chef. Sunday's Spa Day was more than we could have dreamed of; I was treated by my fiance to the ""Beautifully Spoiled"" package, we shared a room during massages and ate a superb lunch in soft cashmere robes! Our choice of the Houstonian as our wedding location in July the best we could think of! Thanks for making a beautiful experience!
